On an old house with various paint conditions, I found this was just too time-consuming and still required a lot of hand scraping. Chemical paint-stripper (I selected a relatively non-toxic but very expensive (!) variety) so far has been faster and easier. I am returning this product because it does not do what it claims, though perhaps it might under more ideal circumstances. I am going to try some type of electric paint shaver/stripper next, and if that does not work well, I'll go back to relying on chemical methods. The truth is that there is no easy way to get all the paint off of an old house. I hope someone invents one some day, as it will be worth almost any price!

It worked fine, heating paint quietly and fairly quickly. I can't say it's faster than a traditional heat gun, but I like that it is safer when dealing with lead paint. Or at least I did, until the third day I used it and it started shutting off randomly. The insulation on the power cord tore where it enters the handle. I suspect the electrical connections inside can't handle the heat it puts out, because now it won't run more than a few minutes.

Don't bother, go get a tub of Citristrip instead. This thing is slow and unwieldy. Held it for 40 seconds over my old paint, barely got a bubble out of it, put it down, scraped that bit, pick it up, try again on the next spot, nothing there either. Threw the Citristrip on there, went and cleaned the kitchen, came back and it was all ready to go! Easy peasy, way cheaper.

Had to get some paint off an old dresser and thought I'd try the speed Stripper. No problems really. It was pretty quick and didn't give off that nasty smell that you get from a heat gun. Overall I'm pleased

Q: Which of the 6 versions of these Show Tech Speed Strippers would be best for my FB1 (75% poodle and 25% Golden Retriever) who has VERY course hair that mats SUPER quickly? TIA!
A: You would want the coarse style ones, we currently do not have the xl in stock so the 8 tooth coarse is the one i would recommend unless you would want to wait for the xl to be in stock which can take 2-3 weeks.
