How to Buy a Real Registered Driver's License

Real Driver's Licenses
The Real Driver's Licenses are a new form of identification that is in compliance with the federal Real ID Act. If you decide to apply for an enhanced or Real ID You will need to go to a DMV to apply. You cannot order them on the internet, over the telephone, or through mail. You must bring the following documents to your local DMV: proof of identity, such as a driver's license, birth certificate or passport or proof of Social Security number or Social Security number ineligibility; evidence of date of birth and two evidences of New York state residency. You must also have a current photo.

You will feel more secure in airports and at your destination due to the additional security features.
