Having just completed his freshman year at MIT, Ray discovers he will have to forfeit his prestigious summer internship in order to care for his mother, who's laid up in bed with a broken leg she suffered in a suicide attempt. Yearning to break free, Ray gets caught up in a sequence of tragicomic events that spin out of control and take him perilously close to the edge of insanity--including the fact that he must resolve a growing attraction toward his homebound mother.
