"Mortification of the thighs," as was the old phrase for this practice, is a most effective summary discipline that seems to have been largely forgotton. It's actually more painful than a simple bare-bottom spanking (albeit not as humiliating) & can be performed almost anywhere at any time without problem. Slapping or strapping the inner-thighs just below the crotch "works" best. Well, I never heard of it being put quite this way, either, but as with you, thigh slapping was also the usual (summary) punishment at my boys' school. Our uniforms' shorts were even made inordinately brief & snug to facilitate this abasement (and to keep us self-conscious). It was not nice, but in a word, it "worked."

I used to look forward to getting my legs slapped by a teacher or a friend. And who says it had to stop at 18? I'm 33...and my frat brothers and I STILL slap each others' legs!

The most embarrassing corporal punishment I ever got was when I was 11. My mother was just starting to prepare me for my spanking, which had been coming both for sassing her and for playing ball in the house which resulted in a broken window.

I've been taken over my dads knee a few times. People need to understand and a firm hand when treated fairly can make a relationship both paternal or with a boyfriend/husband.
My sisters and I were spanked as long as we lived under our parents' roof. I moved out at 19, and was last spanked at that age, but my sister stayed until age 25 and my dad continued to spank her for punishment. I think that this kept us really well behaved, and in fact I think that we were spanked for fairly minor things: at 19, the one time I was spanked was for saying I went to church when I hadn't.
