Frontend Web Developer

Location: Remote | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement user-friendly interfaces for web applications.
• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs.
• Optimize applications for maximum performance and scalability.
• Ensure cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience with frontend frameworks/libraries such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of responsive and adaptive design principles.
• Familiarity with UI/UX tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD).
• Understanding of version control systems like Git.

Preferred Experience:

• Hands-on experience in frontend development (academic or personal projects accepted).
• Previous work on interactive or educational platforms is a bonus.

Backend Web Developer

Location: Remote | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop server-side logic and ensure scalability of web applications.
• Design and manage database schemas.
• Build RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to align functionalities and designs.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Node.js and Python (or PHP).
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Express.js or Django.
• Knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

• Hands-on backend development experience (personal or academic projects accepted).
• Previous work on educational platforms or CRM systems is a bonus.

Event Coordinator

Location: In-person | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and executing events for the Ethiopian Space Science Society.
• Manage schedules, invitations, and event logistics.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure smooth event delivery.

Requirements:

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Prior experience in event organization is a plus.

Junior Writer

Location: Remote | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and write engaging space science-related content.
• Collaborate with the content team to meet deadlines.
• Proofread and edit articles for clarity and accuracy.

Requirements:

• Strong writing and research skills.
• Ability to deliver tasks on time.
• Passion for space science and technology education.

Graphics Designer

Location: Remote | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Design visual content for promotional materials, events, and digital platforms.
• Create graphics, illustrations, and branding assets.
• Collaborate with teams for visual consistency.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects)
• Familiarity with Inkscape or similar tools.
• Ability to deliver high-quality designs on time.

Video Editor

Location: Remote | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit and produce videos for events, educational content, and promotions.
• Add graphics, transitions, and effects to enhance videos.
• Collaborate with the content creation and design teams.

Technical Skills:

• Experience with video editing software like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Filmora, or DaVinci Resolve.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Data Entry Specialist

Location: In-person | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Input, verify, and maintain organizational data and records.
• Organize files and ensure data accuracy.
• Collaborate with team members to manage data workflows.

Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets or similar tools.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment.

Maintenance & Design Engineer

Location: In-person | Working Hours: 12 Hrs (3 hrs/Day - 4 Days/Week)

Duration: 3 Months

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintenance and design telescopes.
• Support projects requiring hardware or system design improvements.
• Collaborate with teams for project execution under tight schedules.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a BSc in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to work with teams and meet project deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and design principles.

Can I still apply without being a member of the ESSS?

Yes. Though we recommend you to become a member of the ESSS, membership wont affect your application process.

Membership Requirements

Everyone can be a member of the ESSS. The only thing you need is two 3x4 Portrait Photographs of yourself and an Annual membership fee depending on your age.

20 Birr/ Year for people below the age of 18

50 Birr/ Year for Undergraduate Students

120 Birr/Year for Adults
