South Korea's U18 soccer team defeats Ukraine 4-2

The South Korea Under-18 National Team opened the first round of the Seoul EOU Cup 2023 with a win.


The Koreans defeated the Ukraine U-18 team 4-2 in a hard-fought match on the first day of the tournament at Mokdong Sports Complex in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday.


After taking the lead in the 10th minute on a header by Park Soo-bin (Pohang U-19), South Korea conceded a goal in the 23rd minute through Vasilets Maxim.


Korea came back to make it 2-1 in the 43rd minute when Kang Kang-wook (Bupyeong High School) scored with a header, and Ha Jung-woo (Daedong Semugo) added a goal 15 minutes into the second half.


Ukraine came back to make it 3-2 with a header from Panchenko Sergiy in the 22nd minute, but Korea responded with a goal from Baek Min-gyu (Pyeongtaek Jinwi FC) to seal the match.


The tournament will feature the U-18 national teams of South Korea, Ukraine, Morocco and Vietnam in a pool format.


Prior to the match between South Korea and Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador Dmitry Ponomarenko officiated with an anti-war ceremony.


South Korea will play Morocco in the second round on Dec. 12 at the same venue. 스포츠토토링크
