The Elder Scrolls Mods Wiki is a FANDOM Games Community.
Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds is part of a three-module immersion mod called Sounds of Skyrim . The other two modules, Sounds of Skyrim - Civilization and Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons have to be installed separately.

This part of the module of course focuses on the effects of the wilderness. Over 115 new effects have been added with the sole purpose of enhancing the presence of animals. Many of these sounds are birds or insects, howling wolves, deer and foxes. The sounds that are present will also vary depending on the location and time of the day. For example, when in the Reach, the chance to hear goats is greater than when in the Pale.

Sounds of Skyrim Complete Collection
The Wilds focuses on adding sound effects in Skyrim's wilderness. With the 115 new sound effects, the purpose of The Wilds is to audibly enlarge Skyrim's fauna with the addition of various animals, birds and insects that play according to weather, time of day and region. In the forests, for example, you'll hear the sounds of foxes, deers and ravens. At night, you'll hear wolves howling from far away or common loons calling others. In The Reach, you might hear the occasional mountain goat or hawk. In addition to animals, The Wilds also adds rain-impact sounds on tents and wooden structures, sounds of rustling bushes to simulate the movements of small mammals that scatter away as you approach and sounds of calm water waves hitting wood on tree logs or structures that are partially submerged in water. ========== IMPORTANT ========== 2017-02-05 Announcement As most of you have been aware, I tend to come and go in modding. This time, after losing my work on the long, long overdue updates to Sounds of Skyrim, I will stop working on them for good. The lack of motivation to modding Skyrim in general and the fact that I'd have to start again doesn't make me want to continue the updates. This is why from today, I allow anyone to make updates, add-ons and patches or even to port it to Skyrim Legendary Edition if someone wants to do so. As long as I am credited as the author and that the the list of sound credits is included in the mod, feel free to re-release Sounds of Skyrim as you see fit. If you have questions on how I made the SOS patches to make it compatible with lighting mods and other cell-editing mods, let me know. It has been a lot of fun working on the project, and I'll never forget the night when I went to sleep after releasing the Dungeons and having a hundred downloads and waking up the next day and seeing it in the thousands, growing every hour. What an excitement! I'll also never forget how Civilization brought pain and suffering as the infamous snoring corrupted your save games. It did help the modding community to learn more about how a simple scripting mistake can cause serious issues. Sounds of Skyrim has been an adventure I'll never forget and I hope you, the players, will continue to keep interest in sound-related mods like the excellent Audio Overhaul Skyrim and Immersive Sounds (and others I'm sure I missed while I was away). I wish you the best in Skyrim! By the way, this is not a goodbye from modding in general. I'm still working from time to time on my Oblivion projects. ================ Latest version: 1.12 ================ Online readme for advanced configuration: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/readmes/Sounds%20of%20Skyrim%20-%20The%20Wilds_readme.txt Refer to the changelog in the thumbnail above the screenshots to know what's new. ====================== What is Sounds of Skyrim? ====================== Sounds of Skyrim is an audio project split in three parts that, in the end, adds around 460+ sound effects to the game world. It affects almost every cell and region in the game. My main goal is to not have one environment that is soundless to enhance immersion. The sounds are affected by the time of day, weather and location. So when walking in the city streets during the day, you'll hear the echo of doors opening and closing, children playing and workers sawing things. While at night, cats fight for territory and dogs bark. The other main feature is being able to hear the outside from the inside. If you get close to windows inside buildings, you’ll hear what’s going on outside. If you’re in a wilderness cabin on a rainy day, you’ll hear the rain’s impact on the wooden roof. If you’re in the entrance of a cave and look outside, you’ll hear the birds and other animals outside going about their lives. All sounds can be heard from inside if you’re in a building where you can hear them. For instance, if you’re in a farm in the wilderness at night, you’ll hear the farm animals present, wolves howling, owls, crickets and other nightlife animals. Finally, this mod would never have been possible without the contribution of many sound recorders and artists from Freesound.org . There’s a file in the archive with the credits for everyone who made the sounds. A HUGE thanks to them, otherwise the sounds would not have been as high quality as they are. ========================== Other Sounds of Skyrim Releases ========================== The Dungeons: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=9106 Civilization: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=81064931 ====================== TECHNICAL INFORMATION ====================== ============== Download Mirrors ============== Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10886 ============== Mod Compatibility ============== Some mods require a compatibility patch to work with Sounds of Skyrim – The Wilds. You can find the patches on the mod’s download page on Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10886 Instructions on how to install them are provided in the download file. Below is a list of mods known to be compatible, incompatible. ======================= Compatible - No Patch Needed ======================= Open Cities Skyrim Realistic Lighting Overhaul ======================= Compatible - Patch Required ======================= Sounds Propagation Overhaul Realistic Colors and Real Nights (RCRN) Climates of Tamriel Climates of Tamriel-Sounds Climates of Tamriel-WinterEdition ==== FAQ ==== Q: The sounds in the videos are too loud or/and the delay between them is too short. A: This was done in purpose in the videos. The higher volumes allows you to distinguish them from the default sounds and the frequency allows you to hear as many sounds as possible to give a nice preview of what the mod does. In the game, the volume is much lower and the sounds do not play frequently. Q: I do not like 'that or this' sound. What can I do? A: There's an in-game configuration utility that starts when you first launch The Wilds that allows you to disable or re-enable groups of sounds. Q: Does Sounds of Skyrim decreases performance? A: No. The way the new sounds play is the same way the game's default sounds are played.

Unimaginably boring game without this mod.

The first "sounds of skyrim" I installed was caves/dungeons. I was amazed by how good it was, and am now installing all of them

How do I uninstall? Otherwise, where is the patch for Climates of Tamriel?

The other two are fine but this one keeps randomly crashing my game.

whats the config command again? PS: you should add that information to the mod description :)
