Sonic doesn't want to kill anyone in IDW, not just the Deadly Six. It's a consistent trait of his character in those comics that he wants to give everyone a chance, and let even the bad guys be free as possible, only stopping them when they use that freedom to hurt others but otherwise leaving them be.
