With a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie set to premiere next year, cosplayers have been quick to whip up their own renditions of their favorite hedgehogs.
With a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie set to premiere next year, cosplayers have been quick to whip up their own renditions of their favorite hedgehog characters. Sonic has been around since 1991 when Sega Games introduced the blue speedy hedgehog to compete with Nintendo's Mario mascot. Since then, Sonic has taken off, having been made into TV series', comics, and has moved on to other gaming systems like PlayStation and Xbox.
This expansion meant introducing new characters into Sonic's story. The show fully developed characters like Tails and Dr. Robotnik, while the games brought in more female characters like Amy Rose and Rouge the Bat. It’s safe to say that these colorful characters are loved by the fans equally, giving cosplayers plenty to choose from when recreating their favorite hedgehog player. See for yourself with these 10 Sonic the Hedgehog cosplays that will blow you away.
Scourge or Anti-Sonic is the polar opposite of Sonic the Hedgehog. He was originally designed to look exactly like the protagonist, but eventually, he was given his own unique look, complete with green fur, red glasses, and a distinct scar over his stomach.
Cosplayer Ely is an artist and gamer who has a particular fascination with the Sonic series. Her closet cosplay of Scourge the Hedgehog is easily recognizable, especially with the flaming leather jacket, green wig, and ear accessories. Besides Scourge, she has also cosplayed Silver the hedgehog and Dib from Invader Zim . 
Blaze the Cat hails from another dimension. She may be a princess, but her pyrokinesis powers make her a force to be reckoned with. The same can be said about this cosplayer's crafting skills.
Cosplaying as Blaze the Cat could not have been an easy costume to pull together, but every inch of Megan's design is spot on. And on top of that, she looks like she is simply thrilled to take on the persona of Sonic's purple-haired friend. If you think about it, any Sonic the Hedgehog character is going to be a difficult costume to replicate. We are talking about anthropomorphic creatures, after all. However, cosplayers tend to be innovative people, which means there is no cap on the type of designs they can come up with.
Take this Pittsburg cosplayer, for example. Her Silver the Hedgehog cosplay is made possible by sewing together gleaming silver material that emulates the character's futuristic facade. She also expertly crafted the wig to look exactly like the animated character, which had to have been a chore all on its own. Suffice to say, this is an amazing take on Silver the Hedgehog and speaks volumes about her cosplaying abilities. Some of her other featured work includes Giorno, Taako, and Alucard.
Rouge the Bat came into the Sonic X series for both the television show and its corresponding comics. The jewel thief is widely recognized by her attractive garb, which consists of her white fur, black unitard, and pink heart-shaped chest plate. This unique concept is why Rouge is so popular among cosplayers. That, and the fact that she's just a badass.
Moonlight Nayru did a mind-blowing job with her Rouge cosplay. Not only did she hem together the bodice herself, but she made sure to include the appropriate accessories, like her bat wings. She even has a jewel prop handy. Moonlight has also a stunning Zelda cosplay and Princess Peach cosplay.
Shadow the Hedgehog is Sonic's arch-rival. His red-streak fur and golden wristlets are his most noticeable attributes, besides his illustrious mohawk. So there's no doubt which Sonic character that King Maii is representing.
It's fascinating to see what cosplayers come up with in order to humanize these type of characters. There's no limit on how to express these Sonic characters, which means that anything from closet cosplays to original concepts can be implemented. King Maii has the right idea by combining a red and black bodice with a fur-lined collar. And the red and black wig is perfect for Shadow. This cosplayer has dressed up as almost every character under the sun, from Peter Pan and Merida to Mary Poppins and Pinnochio.
One of the most intriguing Sonic characters is Amy Rose. In addition to her crazed personality, her costume is colorful and eccentric. She comes with the typical golden cufflinks and a circular red dress, but it's her giant hammer that cosplayers are eager to put together.
Misstunatun's Amy Rose cosplay is one that surely delights anyone that walks past her. Her exaggerated dress is iconic and her home-made hammer looks identical to the one that Amy Rose slings. If you want to see more of this cosplayer, make sure to take a look at her Sakine Meiko.
Cosplayer Tiki had the idea to do a cosplay makeup test with this red wig they had handy. It worked out perfectly for Knuckles the Echidna.
Tiki constructed the wig to flow exactly like Knuckles' fur, and the way they incorporated his animated features into the makeup is brilliant. The menacing eyebrows work fantastic, considering Knuckle's famous short-tempered attitude, and the nose is highlighted just right to give it that cartoon edge.
Everyone is eager to see Jim Carrey's live-action rendition of the famous villain from Sonic the Hedgehog . The genius scientist is the most distinguished Sonic antagonist with his wheelbarrow mustache and robust figure.
Ant is a makeup artist who can transform himself into literally any character. His Dr. Robotnik is convincing, especially with the goggles and the orange mustache. If you think this is impressive, you should see how he uses makeup to look exactly like Walter White from Breaking Bad!
Tails is Sonic's amiable sidekick and best friend. His real name is Miles Prower and he is given the nickname "Tails" due to his rare split foxtails. Tails has been around since the beginning and fans are impatient to see whether or not he will make an appearance in the upcoming film.
Until then, cosplayers have been imagining their own spin on this Sonic character. Callula Cosplay is a Texas-based geek and cosplayer whose Tails cosplay is ridiculously perfect. She fashioned together an orange bodysuit, jacket, and shoes to bring this character to life in the most expert way possible. Not to mention that her wig is styled in an exact replica of the animated creature. Callula's other fascinating cosplay creations include Cruella Deville and Elphaba.
And in lieu of coming up with closet cosplays or live-action concepts, this cosplayer takes his Sonic cosplays to a whole new level. This full-body costume is a precise recreation of the Sonic the Hedgehog we all know and love.
However, in addition to the ordinary blue facade, this cosplayer routinely turns his Sonic into other famous characters. His Instagram plays host to a large and versatile cast, with each one being cosplayed by Sonic himself. His portfolio includes Sonic as Tony Stark, Captain America, Hugh Hefner, Sub Zero, and Tracer.

This famous extraterrestrial hedgehog has TV shows, video games, and even movies dedicated to his journey. Needless to say, people love and adore him. So, if you are curious to see what he and the other characters would look like in our world, here is a list of the top Sonic cosplay.
We are starting with the secondary antagonist of the series. Metal Sonic is famous for portraying a more evil or sinister version of Sonic. And some cosplayers chose to display a less intimidating look of the character. However, as you can see in this picture uploaded to the Deviant Art website by user Phantasmalila , the cosplayer did a great job of representing Metal Sonic in his true form. 
The anthropomorphic hybrid of a hedgehog and black arm, this character is Sonic’s arch-rival. Very determined and ambitious, Shadow will do anything to achieve his goals. And his black and red appearance will undoubtedly intimidate you. User SaiShiro1993 made sure to look intimidating and sinister like the character. Cool, right? 
As its full name suggests, Cream is a Rabbit. And like the character, Rabbits look as cheerful and sweet as they are. So, of course, cosplayers also look cute and charming when dressed like this character. Just look at this cosplay by user LunaDialCos , which was also uploaded to the Devian Art website. It looks pretty spot on!
Some people assume that Knuckles is another hedgehog because of his looks, but he is actually an echidna, a very rare animal. And these creatures do have the same spiny features as hedgehogs. And, of course, the cosplay embodied this feature excellently. Just look at this look by user Cyril-Sneer. What do you think? 
Miles is a fox, but foxes can’t fly like him with his tail spinning like the helix of a helicopter. The Screen Rant website made an article entitled “10 Cosplays That Will Blow You Away,” and this cosplay by danabeth349 of Tails ranked second, which was very well-deserved. 
Of course, we will end the list with the one and only, Sonic the Hedgehog. He may be an icon of fast-paced platformer games, but perhaps it may be more accurate to classify him as a Smurf than a hedgehog. Or maybe an alien? Nevertheless, AmberSkies really put the effort to look like Sonic. She deserves an A++.

I have been looking for a Sonic costume like this everywhere. I'm glad I found it here. I have one question though. I noticed on the front top part it has a little open section. Is it possible to make it so costume is covering the full body. The arms can still be sleeveless.
