A Las Vegas mom started doing yoga to combat her longstanding issues with anxiety and depression and now it’s become a way of life for her and her children.
Modelesque Instagram star Summer Perez, 31, does daily Asana yoga with her son Jayden, 5, and daughter, Cataleya, 3, and posts photos of them all engaged in the ancient practice while sporting matching outfits.
“My children have been watching me practice since day one — well, it was a mix between watching and climbing all over me,” Perez told Caters News.
Perez credits yoga with helping her children remain calm and says it has also made her a better mother.
“Yoga and meditation has become a tool in which I am able to work through some of the most painful events that I had buried deep in my heart,” Perez, who became accustomed to hiding her pain, told Caters.
“Now that I had kids, I couldn’t do that. And I needed to face it rather than mask it. I did not want my kids to go through what I’ve been through,” Perez added.
Perez says other busy moms should take the time to practice yoga even if it feels like they are too bogged down by their parental duties.
“I don’t always have quiet time, but I do what I can,” Perez told Caters.
“It was my kids being around during my practice that inspired them to practice on their own without having to pressure them to do so,” she added.
Perez – who works as a cocktail waitress at night – is raising money on a GoFundMe page so that she can attend yoga teacher training and help others to transform their lives.
So far the enviably fit mom has raised just a portion of her $4,000 goal.
“I have a passion for helping people live their very best, healthiest, and happiest lives,” said Perez.
“And I want to be able to share this with others and help them find a light through the darkness, find hope, connect with their inner most being and be strong from the inside out.”
