A woman in Nigeria has shocked many after she admitted of luring her only biological son to bear kids with her.
Mrs Veronica Lorshe, from Howe, Ugee Council Ward, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State admitted that she executed her devious plan to save her second marriage.
After losing her first husband in a tragic accident, the 47-year-old woman married Sebastian Iorshe, 44, whom after 8 years of marriage, they were still unable to get a baby.
“I am not a loose woman. I am just a woman who loves her husband very much and didn’t want to lose him.
“I did what I did to save my marriage, though I feel guilty about it. It was not easy but I slept with my first son from my first husband so that I could give my husband a child. But rather than sustaining my marriage, the plan has scattered it and I have lost it,’’ she revealed to local media.
“I started by buying good things for him, sleeping together on the same bed, playing with his manhood and gradually one thing led to another. There was a time I asked him if he had tested sex before and he said no. I compelled him to take an oath not to disclose it to anybody.
“I said I would teach him sex. I ensured that I did that during my ovulation period. I never disclosed the reason for this but deep in my mind, I wanted to test my fertility,’’ she continued.
A month later, she discovered that she was actually pregnant and decided to share the news with her husband, Sebastian.
When contacted by local media, Sebastian denied responsibility of the pregnancy quoting a medical report that revealed he had low sperm count and therefore could not father a child.
“I don’t want to believe the story she is narrating to you that her son is responsible for it, though I have not suspected her or seen any sign that an outsider was dating her.
“But the truth is that I’m not responsible for the pregnancy and will not allow her into my house. It is a shame for me to be associated with a mess like this,’’ he said.

The claustrophobic village setting is taken to extremes in this story. There is one room, which is both a kitchen and the mother’s room, in a cramped croft-cottage, where mother and son live together.
John is a hard-working crofter, pushed to the limit by tough physical work combined with caring for his bedridden mother. He is young, gentle and “handsome” but lacks a social life. There is a childishness about him which makes him forgiving, eager to please, keen for praise and easily hurt and defenceless against unfair criticism:
As he devotes himself to domestic and caring chores, his mother criticises his personality, lack of ‘proper’ job, and lack of ambition. He seems unable to change his life without her permission, which she refuses to give.
His mother is bitter and vindictive - possibly her helplessness and/or fear of being abandoned has led to her efforts to undermine John. She knows that with no confidence he will never leave; she also realises he wants to please her and uses this mercilessly. She accuses him of having his father’s family’s hereditary defects . She knows just how to hurt him, using her subtle arrows that work away at his sensitivity or by screaming when he tries to ignore her.
Though not first person narrative, Crichton Smith uses detailed descriptions of John’s actions and thoughts to create empathy and understanding of his situation- we see and hear from John’s viewpoint- and grow angry and frustrated on his behalf. We hear what his mother says and sympathise with his reactions. Offensive rhetorical questions are her speciality:
Yet she also asks about the farm work, and she is the only person he can talk to about this.
He would leave the croft and work elsewhere but, because of his mother’s constant attacks, has no belief in his own ability. Sometimes he lashes out verbally, and angrily with the reflex of the wounded but his words lose their import, their impact and their usefulness.
Violence almost breaks out when he approaches his mother in a turmoil of hate but, faced with her vulnerability when sleeping, he turns away, perhaps accepting his misery. His rage subsides. Instead, he gazes out at the world. Her vulnerability is stressed in the final moment- John cannot attack her as she lies:
Both John and his mother are trapped, she by illness, he by her manipulation and control. His loyalty and self-sacrifice have been ruthlessly exploited. Her harsh criticism destroys his self-esteem and spirit. The house has become their prison.

A single mother has admitted to having sex with a young teen who went to the same school as her child.
A single mother has admitted to having sex with a young teenage boy numerous times, with some their sexual encounters witnessed by the boy’s friends, a court has been told.
The 28 year old woman – whose identity remains suppressed – was sentenced in the Supreme Court of Tasmania for her offending that occurred between June and September last year.
The mother of one pleaded guilty to one count of persistent sexual abuse of a young person.
It was revealed in court that the predator became friends with the 13-year-old’s mother as they both had children in the same class at school.
Through that friendship, she socialised at the boy’s home and was seen as an “aunt figure”.
After the young teen added the woman on Snapchat in May 2021, the pair began to message each other when he confided in her about having troubles at school, the court was told
The woman agreed to take a photograph with him in order to “get some girls off his back”.
It led to the pair kissing, cuddling and committing unlawful sexual acts; some were witnessed by the young teen’s friend or the woman’s then six-year-old child.
The court was told the victim’s mother became suspicious about her son sneaking out of the home and later confronted the woman, telling her not to contact any of her children.
Despite that, the woman created an alias Snapchat account and continued to contact the teenager, the court was told.
Justice Tamara Jago said the woman’s crime breached the trust of the victim and his family.
“You had been befriended by the complainant’s family and you took advantage of that friendship to pursue the relationship with the complainant,” she said.
“Further, several of the sexual acts were witnessed by other young persons who were also at a formative and vulnerable age.
“You exposed them at an important stage of their sexual and emotional development to inappropriate sexual behaviour.”
The court was told the woman’s child was placed in the care of his paternal grandmother after the charge was laid and his father was seeking to gain full-time care.
Justice Jago said the woman’s depression, lack of confidence and social anxiety contributed to her committing the crime but only to a limited extent.
“The evidence suggests you were well aware of the wrongfulness of your conduct,” she said.
“Despite knowing it was the wrong thing to do, you continued the relationship with the complainant.
“Indeed, even after being confronted by the complainant’s mother, you continued the relationship.”
It was also said during the woman’s sentencing hearing that the relationship was “mutual”, despite the 14-year age difference, but it led to the young teen suffering ongoing psychological consequences and experienced episodes of self-harm.
“His victim impact statement reveals regret for the relationship,” Justice Jago said.
“He has been forced to change schools, lost friendships and experienced feelings of guilt because of the impact the relationship has had upon his wider family.”
Justice Jago acknowledged the woman had since resumed taking anti-depression medication, regularly attended psychological treatment and expressed remorse for her actions.
But the judge did not believe the woman posed no risk of reoffending and placed her name on the sex offenders’ register for three years. She sentenced her to two years imprisonment but suspended one year of the term on the condition she not commit any crime during the period.
