ABAKALIKI – THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ebonyi State, yesterday, arrested a serial rapist and homosexual, Chibuike Maduka, who allegedly raped four children of different parents at Ndibe in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect who blamed his strange sexual escapades on his mother, Mrs. Idam Augustina Josephine, confessed to have had sexual intercourse with his mother on several occasions and that he doesn’t know what usually compel him to have sex with children in the area.
Parading the suspect at the Command headquarters in Abakaliki, the state Commandant of NSCDC, Mrs. Ego Echendu, said the suspect was arrested after a tip-off by an indigene of the area, adding that the suspect had in a confessional statement disclosed that he had sexual intercourse with his mother.
He said: ”We got a tip-off and sent some of our men to follow up the information concerning an adolescent male who has been in the business of raping children.
“We continued to monitor the suspect and fortunately at about 3 p.m yesterday, our divisional office at Afikpo North Local Government Area was able to locate him and his mother who, we reliably gathered, was also a key player in the son’s sexual escapades.
”The suspect confessed to have been having sexual intercourse with the biological mother and we asked to know when it started and he said last year and also claimed that the mother usually encouraged him to sleep with children of tender ages.
”Because this case involves women and children of these age bracket, we want to transfer this case to the Ministry of Women Affairs in the state for them to take it from there.
“He sleeps with his own biological mother who is in our custody now; and again he also told us that he is a homosexual, he sleeps with other male friends.
“From my analysis, I think he has some sought of brain disorder.”
Vanguard gathered that the suspect, who hailed from Amangu village in Nkpohoro, began raping young children since 2008 and a Senior Secondary School, SSS, 1 student of Oziza Secondary School, Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.

According to the suspect, “I’m here because of my mother. She used me for ritual. I don’t know what I’m doing. If I see a little child I will rape her; this act started in 2008; it is not my fault but that of my mother.
“I have raped my mother and four children. My father is late. I don’t know myself again. I had homosexual activities with one Emmanuel three times at Amangu in Afikpo North Local Government Area.”
Reacting, the mother of the suspect, Mrs. Idam Augustina Josephine, 45, denied having any sexual involvement with his son, insisting that he doesn’t know what was happening to his son.
She said: “I am 45 years and the mother of Chibuike Maduka. How can I teach my child to rape little children? I’m here because my son raped some children; he is telling a lie, he never had any sexual relationship with me.”

Preston Crown Court rape trial told middle-aged woman initially thought she might have been dreaming before waking to realise 'enormity of situation'
A sleeping woman woke in the night to discover her 14-year-old son was raping her, a court heard.
She initially thought she might be dreaming, but shouted and screamed on realising the "enormity of the situation", it is alleged.
Preston Crown Court also heard that the youngster, who has ADHD and is on medication, had been having behavioural problems and some years ago had been in the habit of climbing into bed with his mother.
The boy - from the Blackpool area, now aged 15, and who cannot be named for legal reasons - denies a charge of rape last year.
The court heard the woman had been out for a drink the night before the alleged attack and that, although she did not consume a lot of alcohol, it went to her head because she might have been drinking quickly.
Francis McEntee, prosecuting, told the court: "The allegation in this case is that the defendant raped his mother while she was asleep. The factual basis of this case is that he was in his mother's bed.
"The issue is not any assertion of consent, or belief of consent. It is the prosecution's assertion there was penetration and the defendant's denial of that allegation".
The prosecution said the woman had been asleep before waking and realising the "enormity of the situation, that her son was in the process of having sex with her".
The woman shouted and screamed and, soon after, was frantic, the court was told. Another family member asked her "Are you sure? Are you sure?" She responded by saying "I didn't dream it. I didn't dream it".
The court also heard that as a child, the boy used to get into his mother's bed, but that had stopped some years ago.
Mr McEntee added: "The defendant's account is that his bed was uncomfortable, there was damage to the bottom sheet, so he had gone in and lain in bed with his mother."
He also told the jury "you will hear his acknowledgement that his mother was naked, bar the brief underwear and you will hear his admission that she lay on her side and he was lying with his arm around her.
"The prosecution would invite you to say he was hoping to seek to try and provide an innocent explanation for his presence in the bed. Whether driven by drink or some other issue, perhaps because he had had drink, he climbed into bed with his mother".
In her video police interview played in court, the woman described herself as "trembling from the inside".
The youngster chose to leave the courtroom while the interview was played. Judge Pamela Badley told the jury he had not wanted to be present at that stage and she had given him permission not to be there.
Speaking of what happened, the woman told police: "I just know when I opened my eyes he was there. I don't even know what I said. He scuttled out of the room and didn't say anything.
"I just sat there holding my covers, screaming and thinking 'what the hell's just gone on?' The woman said she had been meant to be staying at a friend's that night. When she had realised the "enormity" of the situation, she thought she had screamed. She felt 'mortified' by what had taken place.
"All sorts was going through my head. Is he just sleepwalking? Does he know what he is doing? Is he aware? Now I am actually thinking what state is he in? Does he know what he has done?"
The middle-aged woman went on to tell police that her son had had issues for a long time and the last 18 months had been an "absolute nightmare" that had been getting worse.
She also said in her interview: "He's really aggressive towards me, throws things and hits me with things like slippers and cushions. Only two days ago I got cut. This is me trying out ground him and instil some punishment for the way he has been."
At the end of the interview, she added: "I am concerned for my son, more concerned about what would happen to him."
