Big O (pronounced "big oh") is a mathematical notation widely used in computer science to describe the efficiency of algorithms, either in terms of computational time or of memory space. The main purpose of this and other so-called asymptotic notations is to describe the behavior of mathematical functions, by comparing their "orders of growth".
