Why did we need this???? Very depressing and the low budget was evident with the drab one-room sets. Of course, the acting was superior because those actors always deliver.

Leah: Very well scripted and acted except the story's crux was interesting but majorly flawed. I mean seriously flawed. The point was three versions of herself talking across time, call them 1, 2 and 3 respective of time. It's difficult to deal with time paradoxes - so the writer just ignored them completely. Leah2 tries to contact Leah1 but her transmission was usurped by 3 pretending to be 1. Then they actually get 1. Problem: Leah1 is naturally oblivious to all events until contacted and - importantly - Leah2 is oblivious to what happens with 1. She would have known everything that happened because **it was in her own past**. I know this how? Because Leah3 knew about her past with 1 & 2. Also, by changing things all three disappear? Why? Only either Leah 3 or Leah2 and 3 would be artifacts of a 'no longer extant' time line, depending on when it was altered. This episode falls on its face. Tom: Now this was an excellent short. A remarkably well written and acted emotional exchange between a man who is dying and the (apparent) clone he's gotten to replace himself after. Anthony Mackie turns in an emotionally excellent performance. No politics at all, just a great story about half an hour in the last days of a man's life. Peg: Helen Mirren is a incredible actress and I'll watch anything she's in. An older woman volunteers for a one way trip (we don't find out where to or why) and comes to change her mind. The script, unfortunately, winds up coming across as a whining lament that she never did anything in life. Extremely well done and acted, just not a story line that resonates. A problem with this piece is the repetition of names, secret handshakes, farts and ice cream from Tom with jarring contradictions to the attempted junctions (this trickles down the episodes). Another problem (for me anyway) was the continual movement of the background stars as she passes the moon. They should have been static. Sasha: Another excellent performance, this time by Uzo Aduba. Obviously inspired by the Covid lockdowns, it's a study in the attachments to "safety" people can develop. Only problem is that no one talks like the script. It comes across rather blatantly as something written, edited and re-edited to convey a message, not as someone speaking ad hoc. Jenny: I didn't sign up as a therapist and I want my half hour fee. Constance Wu did a good job with the highly scripted angst-ridden monologue. The twist at the end didn't really save it and the ending reveal didn't make me care. "Who would want her memories?", "You'd be surprised." Well, I didn't and don't. So far, my least favorite. Nera: Evil baby movie. That's about it. Trivial hints he's artificial in some manner but no real explanation. Very poor circumstance writing. Old trope of bad phone connection static washing out *only* the crucial words of a warning message. Child miraculously knows how to speak/walk/etc without learning and grows with no nutrition and I mean grows - going from newborn to almost adult in not even a whole evening. Then, of course, the trope of her finally coming to accept and protect him. Nichole Beharie was fine but there was really nothing for her to work with. This one matches the last for favorite. Stuart: Morgan Freeman is iconic for both his voice and the characters he plays and he did that here. He's great at soliloquies and delivers a couple of long winded ones. Unfortunately, they *sound* like soliloquies, not a man expressing his thoughts. That was the problem with all of the episodes except Tom. My thoughts on the Stuart story line? **I'm supposed to feel empathy for this monster?!** Just because Freeman's voice is melodic? A self- admitted ruiner of hundreds of people's memories of their loved ones? No. *** Only the first two episodes sounded like people. If that was fixed, I'd have given five stars.

These performances are deeply reminiscent of one-act plays: Beautifully acted, cerebral and complex, and emotionally wrenching. Deeply human and often transcendent, I still vividly recall how moving these solo vignettes were, one year after viewing. Don't understand all the 1-star reviews - perhaps this type of depth is simply no longer understandable in today's ADD-culture? Would love to see more of this series.

This is such a wonderful series. I donโ€™t know why some people did not like it. Watch it and absorb the messages in each show. If you are critiquing the sets and the CGI, you are not paying attention to the messages.

Episode 1 (Leah): Ann Hathaway is fine. She's very good, even with bad dialogue. Story is ridiculous. The character is all kinds of rotten. And what is with all the light bulbs? Episode 2 (Tom): Anthony Mackie seems to be trying too hard, particularly with the facial expressions actors use but sincere people don't. The idea is interesting but the elements don't make sense. Why would a customer have to pay $30k in order to coach his replacement? Why would the meeting be restricted to a few minutes? Dumb. Episode 3 (Peg): Helen Mirren is outstanding as Peg. The computer was appropriately supportive and encouraging, like Hal's decent cousin. Peg's reminiscing wasn't realistic - no one remembers so clearly - but Mirren sold it. It is disconcerting that we don't get to meet a self-actualized character that isn't a computer. Episode 4 (Sasha): The most interesting so far. Uzo Aduba was very good playing the scared, neurotic Sasha. The writing was very good other than a few logic flaws. Episode 5 (Jenny): What a vile piece of trash. I don't know who is worse, the writer or Constance Wu, the actress who mouthed this garbage. I had to stop watching. Episode 6 (Nera): I'm sure Nicole Beharie was fine, but the story was unsettling and unenjoyable. I ended up fast-forwarding through most of it. Episode 7 (Stuart): Morgan Freeman was good with sometimes iffy dialogue. Dan Stevens was good in a good role. The story was a mix of good ideas and easy choices, but intriguing nevertheless.

A bit depressing at times but so is reality. Short enough to view in a reasonable time but long enough to let the actors really get into the character. It takes some acting chops to carry a scene. Thank you to all evolved.
