November 2016: I sat by the post box all morning waiting for my copy and it was SO worth the wait!! It took 2 hours and 35 minutes to finish it which is actually a record time for me. (AND ZOE SUGG LITERALLY JUST QUOTED MY TWEET AND SAID SHE'S PLEASED I ENJOYED THE BOOK AND I CRIED) This was just on par with the other two; basic vocabulary, plenty of cheese and cliches, just the right amount of action and plot to keep me turning the pages without rolling my eyes too much. What can I say? I'm a sucker for these books. *slight spoiler!* There were a few moments which I thought were going to live up to my predictions but of course, as I knew all along, Penny was never going to be just "PenPo" for long, was she? And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm actually happy about it. *end slight spoiler!* This book made me feel warm and gooey inside and it's not something I admit freely these days. So much like the other two, this book wasn't a difficult read but it was an extremely enjoyable one and tackled lots of issues that are relevant in society today. Including old people tutting at young people for being on their phones. That was THE BEST. Hashtag, Team Internet. All in all, a really comforting story with lots of light twists and turns that make for a very pleasing reading experience. And the 5 stars is purely because I fucking adore Zoe Sugg. The book itself would probably get a 4, solid 4. But I'll stick with the 5 because did I mention that Zoe just tweeted me???? Sorry, I'll shut up. But seriously, this was a great book. GO BUY THIS. IT'S AWESOME. June 2016: It's titled "Girl Online: Going Solo" COULD THIS FINALLY BE THE BADASS FEMINIST "I DON'T NEED A BOY TO BE HAPPY" INSTALMENT IN THE SERIES?! Probably not because it's YA. And it's Zoe. But STILL. I have hope. Is it November yet?? Pre-ordered my copy today!

i must admit that i didn't enjoy girl online going solo as much as i enjoyed girl online, but it was still enjoyable. i mean, during the first half of the book, penny was quite irritating but after i got past the first 150ish pages, i flew through the book and didn't want to put it down!! this series is a tad bit too juvenile and cliché for my usual taste in books but somethin' about penny's relationship with her family, friends, and noah just got me hooked from the first few pages of girl onlin

“One thing I've learnt recently is that blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.” It’s been a year since I’ve read the first two books in this series and even though I wasn’t too happy with the first book, I decided to still read ‚Girl Online: Going Solo‘. “One thing I've learnt recently is that blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.” It’s been a year since I’ve read the first two books in this series and even though I wasn’t too happy with the first book, I decided to still read ‚Girl Online: Going Solo‘. I liked the second book better than the first one and hoped that I’d maybe also like this book better than the second one. After finishing it though, I can say that this unfortunately wasn’t the case; but I still liked it and would put it on the same level as ‘Girl Online: On Tour’. GOGS is a very quick and fun read. It’s a cute story and overall the entire Girl Online series is just a bunch of sweet books that are perfect for teenage girls. But even though I’m not a teenager anymore, I still enjoyed them so you shouldn’t shy away from these books only because you’ve already entered your twenties. So overall, this was a great read but there were still a couple of things that bothered me. Unfortunately, I still felt like the main character Penny, was sometimes still acting quite childish for her age and at some points I felt like I was reading about a thirteen-year-old and not about a girl that’s almost seventeen. In my review of the second book, I also complained about the fact that she is a very clumsy character and a lot of the moments in which she was being her ‘clumsy self’ just felt very forced and unrealistic, as if Zoe Sugg was just trying her hardest to make Penny more relatable. In my opinion, this has definitely improved in this book and even though there were still one or two scenes in which it bothered me, she was less clumsy and her clumsy moments were definitely more realistic. Another thing that bothered me was Sugg’s usage of ‘OK’ instead of just using ‘okay’. But I’ve already complained about that enough in my other reviews, especially in the one of the first book. I also still don’t know if it’s maybe just a common thing in the UK to write ‘OK’ instead of ‘okay’ because if that’s the case, I hope all of you that are from the UK can forgive me for being annoyed with it. What I loved about this book though, is how it was once again set mainly in Brighton and this time featured a lot of places I’ve been to before. Reading about them just brought back so many great memories and made me really happy. It’s one of the things I just love about reading books set in places I’ve visited before and it just made reading GOGS even more enjoyable. All in all, this was a good book and I’m glad I decided to read the entire series even though I didn’t really enjoy the first book. I decided to give ‘Girl Online: Going Solo’ 4 out of 5 stars and even though I enjoyed it, I still hope that this is the last part in this series because I think it’s a fitting conclusion to it.

Oh my gosh. What a wonderful ending to Girl Online. I kinda don't want it to be over. When Callum came into the picture I was a little worried, then I thought Zoë wouldn't do that to us. He was very sweet though. Of course Noah came and surprised her again. When she wouldn't talk to him I was heart broken but then again I understand why. And poor Elliott, glad things kinda worked out in the end for him. I wasn't expecting an ending like that but it was a beautiful ending. This book was also grea

it's not actually a 1 star read, but a very solid 1.5, just so you know. maybe even a 1.75 there's a distinct lack of going solo for a book literally titled going solo, and i guess that's all i want to say before i go back to reading decent literature again-- I've wasted an entire evening already as it is

Finished late last night. loved it I love how in those books, it is not all about a boy/boys/being in love, but also about family and friends, the ups and down that come with that, about what you want to do with your life in terms of a profession etc. Someone called it 'slice of life' books and that is the perfect term for these. It is a very quick read, easy writing and highly enjoyable. I cannot think of a reason for 4* in stead of 5 :P Maybe some parts were predictable, but somehow I did not

~ A review by a disinterested, non Zoella-crazy person. ~ There is so much of hype and hate surrounding this series, and frankly speaking, I don't understand either. I think that a lot of it stems from people's feelings towards Zoe Sugg herself, rather than their feelings towards these books. ~ A review by a disinterested, non Zoella-crazy person. ~ There is so much of hype and hate surrounding this series, and frankly speaking, I don't understand either. I think that a lot of it stems from people's feelings towards Zoe Sugg herself, rather than their feelings towards these books. I have to admit that what prompted me to pick up Girl Online in the first place was my curiosity and surprise that a YouTuber had written an actual work of fiction (I only learnt later about the ghostwriting). But Girl Online pleasantly surprised me, perhaps because I wasn't really expecting anything at all. Back then, I didn't think a sequel was required, but after reading Girl Online On Tour and Girl Online Going Solo , I can see why they were needed.
I think the main thing that helped make everything better was choosing to work on me before anything else. How can you truly be happy with someone else when you aren't in the best place you can be for you?
The first thing to remember before reading this series is to not expect anything other than a light, quick read. If cheesy highschool romances are not your thing, these books won't be either. I found the first half of Girl Online Going Solo to be a bit boring and draggy, but it picked up a few notches towards the end. I'm pretty sure that some of this has to do with the fact that I've always liked Noah, but still. 'Going Solo' was definitely the wrong name to give this book, because within the first few chapters, Penny meets a cute Scottish boy and has her heart beating faster. I'm not saying that you can't be single and have a million crushes, but Penny certainly doesn't seem to want to be single - she just is because of circumstances. Nothing wrong with that, but she is by no means going solo . Another slightly annoying issue I had is that Penny is quite slow when it comes to seeing things that are right in front of her. There are these poor attempts at suspense throughout the book which did nothing other than make me roll my eyes at Penny's, well, blindness. But, the book did have a few nice takeaways. I especially liked the message behind Penny's photography project at the end. Of the three books, this one seemed the most autobiographical to me. And though all the drama and obviousness made me roll my eyes a lot , what with the perfect bow tied around the happy ending, I still sort of liked the book.
Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.

I'm so happy that I actually really enjoyed this one (if you have seen my reviews for the first two, you'd know I have more negative feelings towards them). Zoe has really grown as a writer. 3.5 stars. A better review coming tomorrow.
