I'm somewhat baffled that the 'Whizzer Cone' concept hasn't carried over into more sound reproductions. From my experience with them and what I've studied in their regard, whizzers were a welcome attribute in some speaker sizes and designs. Call me funny that way-

Umm... well... let's see: Lowther's made drivers with whizzers for many decades and they show no sign of abating. Same deal with Fostex (although probably not for quite as long)...

Yes it is an old thread but I just found it!
I have one of the very first sets that were available way back in the 60's,Walnut Cabs.Lately looking at them I though I would mod them and did,wow much better than before.Walnut finish was shot so I painter them and made new front Speaker board to which I mounted the Whizzer/Woofer dead center and placed 2 ports,1 on each side of the center and fully insulated the interior of said Cabinet with proper speaker insulation and that seems to have done the trick,granted they are still Solo 4's and are limited as such but they do sound much nicer for what they are!I will post pics a little later on :thmbsp:

Anyone know the specs for those drivers? Maybe think outside of the box and try open baffle. Add tubes
and enjoy.
