Do you know that Snapchat is the most popular app among teens. Nowadays it is being popularized very fast. It was launched in July 2011 under the name Picaboo for iOS only and relaunched in September 2011 as Snapchat. There are 166 million daily users on snapchat.
The basic concept of Snapchat is to post images and videos which will get deleted automatically in a short span of time. Users can use different funny filters and add emojis to the photos and videos, and these features made it popular among teens.Due to its automatic deletion of conversation history, snaps and videos, most of the users use it to send private photos and sexting . However, there are certain instances where private snaps are leaked and made life a living hell of embarrassment for some regular users and celebrities .
Snapchat hack took place during the 2nd week of October in 2014 when over 2,00,000 private photos and videos were exposed online. It was due to a third-party app named SnapSaved where people used to save their snaps.
Even since then, popular celebrities have been a constant victim of snap leaks bringing total humiliation in public and private life.

Even though the hackers claim to publish her photos directly from her Snapchat account where she is seen in compromising position of pleasure herself, she denied the authenticity of the photos. Nevertheless, the pictures draw a lot of attentions and lead to more publicity for her.

She acknowledged the fact that the photos were authentic by tweeting "Thank You iCloud" . She called the incident absolutely unfortunate and exclaimed that it could affect her career as fans may be losing interest in her.
The actress has been a subject of constant controversies due to several reports of leaking private images all by herself. In an interview, she claimed all the photos of her floating around the internet before the Fappening thing happened were completely fake. But these photos were real, and all she could do was make fun of the photos instead of keeping herself depressed .

The so-called Fappening 2.0 is already underway to expose more naked photos of celebrities and bring shame to their lives. A third-party app is allegedly behind the leak which could affect as many as 200,000 users
Hackers have threatened to release Snapchat images that have been intercepted and stored online by a third-party app, according to media reports.
The reported leak has been dubbed “The Snappening,” a play on last month’s “The Fappening,” in which nude photos of stars were stolen from iCloud and surfaced online . Jennifer Lawrence , Rihanna , Rita Ora and Kim Kardashian were among the stars affected by the leak.
The images were taken on Snapchat and meant to last for just 10 seconds. But third-party apps have given users the ability to capture a screenshot of the image and store it. At lease one of these applications has been hacked, and its online library of a reported 13GB of images has been compromised.
The Snapchat leak could impact about 200,000 Snapchat users — and potentially minors — as half of Snapchat’s 4.6 million users were between the ages of 13 and 17, according to The Guardian .
According to Business Insider , members of an underground chat room called 4chan have downloaded the images and are creating a searchable database by Snapchat username.
Two possible third-party apps have been floated as the victims of the hacking: Snapsave and SnapSaved.com.
A Snapsave representative told Business Insider, “Our app had nothing to do with it and we’ve never logged username/passwords.” He also said Snapsave doesn’t store photos online.
SnapSaved.com did save photos on a web server, but it’s no longer in business. Its URL now redirects to a Danish company that sells TV accessories.
A spokeswoman for Snapchat said it wasn’t the source of the leak and that the company expressly tells users not to use third-party apps with its platform.
“We can confirm that Snapchat’s servers were never breached and were not the source of these leaks,” the rep told The Guardian. “Snapchatters were allegedly victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive snaps — a practice that we expressly prohibit in our terms of use precisely because they compromise our users’ security.”
“We vigilantly monitor the App Store and Google Play for illegal third-party apps and have succeeded in getting many of these removed,” she added.
Snapchat came under fire in December 2013 when it didn’t respond to a warning from Gibson Security that a vulnerability in its coding might allow hackers to get a hold of users’ personal information. Gibson Security went public with the information, and hackers were able to match phone numbers and usernames. They then released a database of the acquired information on Dec. 31, 2013.
