How can we ensure that professionals, from doctors and teachers to construction workers, maintain their competencies over decades? How can we accurately gauge a student's progress when grades aren't always a reliable indicator of success?

The core problem is the lack of standards and methods to measure proficiency across different professions. We need SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) tests to effectively assess and ensure that workers meet the demands of their roles over time. This deficiency impacts multiple sectors, affecting the overall quality and progress of our society.
