Because if that fat bastard would have continued writing the books, Dumb and Dumber could have just continued adapting them, instead of having to come up with shit on their own. I blame George for this mess just as much as D&D. He had more than enough time to write the next book, but instead he started dicking around with other stuff.
The majority of a Feast for Crows and a Dance with Dragons were cut from the show, and what wasn't cut was crammed into one season. They had two massive books to adapt and scrapped most of it. The way a Feast for Crows builds on Jamies redemption arc is incredible, and they scrapped it in favor of him going to rescue a princess with his wacky sidekick who likes to make dick jokes. Aegon was cut , (real) Euron was cut , The dorne plot was cut, Lady Stoneheart was cut, Robbs will was cut, The Stark loyalists were cut, etc.
They cut out so many plot threads that are going to be crucial in the end game that even if George had finished Winds before season 6 the show would have fallen apart anyway. It clearly got too complex for Dan and Dave and they wanted to turn it into a marvel movie with dick jokes instead, none of that is Georges fault.
Regardless, George is a 72 year old man with his own life, not your personal entertainment machine. I find it amazing that the irony of hating D&D for rushing the story while also hating GRRM for not rushing the story is lost on most of you
Yes he could have. He could have written those god damn books. Could have worked closely with them on making sure the characters were fleshed out proper. written script at least. He is just as responsible.
They cut out most of feast and dance anyway and crammed the rest into one season. Even if George had finished winds before season 6 the show still would've fallen apart because of everything D&D cut that's going to be important later on.
George isn't responsible for the show regardless. He is an old man that grew up poor and suddenly came into a lot of wealth late into his life. He's allowed to enjoy it and take his time, George RR Martin is not your bitch.
Absolutely don’t give a single shit about those IPs, talking strictly TES as my post clearly indicates. If anyone needs “dumbing down” it’s you.
I ask again, should fans of TES expect a 14-15 year release cycle between installments moving forward?
I ask again, should fans of TES expect a 14-15 year release cycle between installments moving forward?
If their 3-4 year cycle is consistent, and they continue making fallout and starfield games, then it will be around 9-12 years in-between TES games unless something changes
But the dude you're getting pissed off at doesn't make these decisions, so if you can't handle the wait, instead of seething at random internet people you can take part in Skyrims massive modding community, or find something else to do. BGS is a company incentivized by profit and there's not much we can do about it.
2025 is pretty optimistic imo. Fallout 4 came out almost exactly 4 years after Skyrim. If Starfield comes out November 2022, I'd assume TESVI comes out late 2026 to early 2027. All of that is assuming that Starfield isn't delayed at all.
I remember years ago around 2015 when people were saying it could be out around 2017, I thought they were being overly optimistic and it would more realistically be out around 2019/2020. Goddamn it's been a long time, hopefully it will be worth the wait
I enjoyed it for what it was but it’s very specific to the time of its release. It’s no longer relevant after the election unlike the first movie which is timeless
I always though that Victorian had autism. When he thinks about his childhood he recalls lashing out when he got frustrated that he couldn’t pick up on sarcasm or social queues, like when people mockingly complimented him and he’d lash out when he figured out they weren’t genuine.
I definitely think the story will end with a Great Council, and that meeting at the end of the show was a bastardization of one. Judging from that, it really does seem this is foreshadowing, good catch!
What I find really interesting about this passage is that Elliot convinces himself he knows everything that's worth knowing about a person by looking at their worst traits. In reality, we all know that people are a lot more than just their not-so-great parts, but as a victim of abuse he conditioned himself to only look at the bad parts. We find out later on that Elliot's assumptions of people are either only partially right, or completely wrong - you can't know everything there is to know about a person simply by hacking them or looking for the worst in them. That's not how it works. People are a lot more complicated than that.
When you get hurt by people you love and trust, you lose the ability to trust others. You don't know the difference between a person who wants to hurt you and who wants to be your friend. Edward breaking Elliot's trust by abusing him made Elliot believe that everyone out there is just going to hurt him eventually, so he decides to not bother with them and keeps them at a safe distance. There is some truth in this - everyone you meet has the potential to hurt you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone you meet will actually do it. That's what makes relationships so risky; you kinda have to wing it and trust the other person not to hurt you, but it can be really hard to do that when you've been betrayed by someone you trusted in the past.
Elliot prides himself in thinking he knows people by looking for the worst in them because it keeps him "safe". It keeps him away from others so he won't go through the risk of getting hurt again - but by doing so, he's hurting himself by perpetuating his own loneliness. He wants a way out of loneliness, but he unknowingly puts himself deeper into that loneliness because of his unwillingness to trust others. To open up to someone, to be vulnerable around them, to trust them with your thoughts and feelings - it's scary as shit, and there is a risk of getting hurt, but at the end of the day it's what you have to do if you want to form meaningful connections with people. It's like that quote: A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for. You kinda just have to say "fuck it" and take that leap.
To be connected to others means you have to take that risk - and thankfully Elliot learns this at the end of the series and realizes that sometimes you kinda have to get hurt in order to figure out who's really worth sticking around for. Relationships are rarely perfect - you will hurt each other and you will do fucked up things to each other, but it's the way you bounce back and make up for the hurt you caused that makes the difference between a good relationship and a bad one. It's about learning from your mistakes and committing to improving yourself so you don't hurt them again. Everybody has the potential to hurt another person, but the real challenge is finding who is worth hurting for. It's about finding people who aren't afraid to take responsibility for their mistakes and are willing to work towards getting better so that they won't repeat them - and it's also about being that person for others as well.
Learning to trust people again can be extremely difficult (Trust me, I've been struggling with this most of my life and I have a feeling I will for a very long time). Learning to be okay with opening up to others, and learning to be vulnerable around others can be hard as hell. But it's not impossible. You can heal from past wounds and learn to love and trust again. It'll take some time, but it will happen if you really want it to and are willing to work for it.
Reminds me of the always sunny joke where Charlie calls America a socialist dictatorship after realizing there's no free healthcare
