Now, this is the type of thread which is just bound to get loads of replies (based on today's GD threads!)
So, here's the dilemma...
I have a beach ball. It's a blow up one. I just pump it up with a balloon pump. It's plastic. I don't know why we bought it but we thought it might come in handy.
I have a bad back. If I lay on the beach ball backwards and roll myself around, do you think it will pop?
PS Moderators, please don't move this to advice, I'll only get well-intentioned replies which will ruin the thrust of this important discussion.

It's a funny old day on here today. And it's only bloody Tuesday.

Was it just me who read this thread as If I sit on beachbabe, will it pop?

No I did too, I wonder why.

A bad back eh? You have my sympathy. I moved out of home to get away from stories about bad backs
As to the beach ball, if my experience with inflatables is anything to go by, it will indeed pop (eventually) and may well cripple you in the process. I'd invest in a proper one like this
if I were you

The trouble with those rubber ones is that you don't have to blow them up. I quite like the idea of rolling around on hot air. On the other hand, I don't want to snap to the floor when it pops.
But I just KNEW you'd all have some advice for me!
I can see that I shall have to think very carefully about my options.

I think maybe it depends on where I buy the beach ball from. If I buy it from a 'high earners aimed' store it might be ok, but if I buy it (as I did) from Tesco, then probably not.
It's really wrong you know, this discrimination against beach balls. I'm sure they're all made in the same factory.

I guess you just have to weigh up which would be more painful; your bad back or a squashed ball.

Give it a try, and find out.
Seriously though, I doubt it. A sphere is a very strong structure.

That depends on how much you weigh to work out the forces involved.
Weight, this isn't a clever disguise of a topic that is really about your weight?

There's only one way to find out....
Good luck

I think it's my previous activities with the beach ball which have made me ever so slightly more spherical than I used to be!

I would advise a half pumped beach ball. Too much air and too much weight will be too embarrassing when it explodes.
Well seeing as new evidence has come to light that this is a used beach ball, I think the verdict must be that it will indeed pop under the strain.

A second hand ball? I gave my previous advice thinking the beach ball was brand new out the pack.
