I have been playing the sims for years now. And EA has added some great things from ghost, vampires, werewolves and even witches and wizards. The possibilities are almost endless in relationships and the life of your sim but there are some things I think could be desired more. One EA only gives you the choice of male or female when creating your sim. There is no in between and I think there should be. Why not allow players to make transgender or even cross dressing sims? The design is set on in stone and it shouldn't be if the sims is truly about free expression in the game. Why not let the males be able to have feminine hair or clothes or let the females have masculine hair and clothes? Instead of just having the choice of female or male, you can pick a third choice. I think it would be rather interesting and add another level to only game play but in how you design, cloth, and create your sim. They should consider it for both the sims 3 and sims 4.

Well, I'm not sure if you use mods or CC, but there are many types of CC that could possible help you with a certain type of look I think. Try: MySims4Blog . I hope that helps!

I have made some conversions for female clothes so that males can wear them, the link is here. I've tested it in my game and as long as the .package files are taken out of the folder and put into mods it should work fine. Glad to see somebody else agrees this game should have more rights for trans sims and we shouldn't have to make cc to get these features. dropbox.com/s/dx5sm2wg5gdscyr/trans%20cc.zip?dl=0

I think this is an awesome idea and there may be mods out there for it. Last year when I was still playing ts4, I tried to get a thread going to drum up interest... and there was some, but it kind of fizzled out. I really wanted to play a sim who was a drag performer at night and a private investigator during the day. I've kind of given up on ts4 to be the game that the ts1 through ts3 was for me.
If there's not a mod out there for ts4, maybe by the time ts5 comes around the transgender community will be hopefully even more ubiquitous and accepted and it'll be a no-brainer to have them in the ts5.

I'm against this, just because trans people aren't trans because they want to be trans, they're trans because somewhere down the line mind, body and soul did not go hand in hand. It's a very traumatic experience to not only be trans, but to have to go through the transition on top of that. If trans people could have it their way, they would most likely chose to be born biologically as the gender they identify themselves as.
^ I'm referring to the classical case of being transgender. I am aware that being trans comes in many different ways.

This would be awesome! I see gender as a continuum, not separate boxes, especially if there's only two of them. It's great that sims can already have same-sex relationships, but it is also important to acknowledge gender minorities.

You could probably find mods for it, but I doubt they would ever do that in a Sims game just because of the potential backlash that could come from it. A lot of parents might not let their children play the game any longer if EA were to add transgender sims into the mix. It might happen down the line, but I guarantee it will be several years before we see that concept.

Why not then make an item like they did with the "Plastic Surgery" booth. If story wise, you want to have your sim transition, or you want to recognize that your sim did transition pre-game, maybe have an item where you step inside, and you begin transitioning? It could be like aging from a teen to an adult, only transitioning between a male and female? Really generic, and the idea could definitely use some editing so we can keep true to the trans community.

And then as far as the make up and the hair, why not have all of the hairstyles unlockable? Like, game wise, maybe have a career track designated towards drag queen (or king) performer? And then when you achieved that, you would unlock specific outfits, hair styles, etc?

(Long winded responses, I'm passionate about this, haha)
And as a man, I use makeup almost every single day. I would love if male sims could be contoured and beaten for the gods. Lord knows my face looks fierce when I go out, so why can't my beautiful sim men?

Performance, Price, Portability - pick two.

I have a Sim based on my favorite Drag Queen, Ginger Minj. I have no problem using the CAS cheat to change her gender.
Edit: Now that the CAS cheat stays on until you choose to turn it off, I can just open the dresser to switch her back and forth.

I don't remember seeing it, unless it happened with the original game; I know I haven't seen it since I've been playing (2007). And, if there are mods to help play transgender sims, I hope they're posted here or in another thread.

I already have a couple transgender sims in my game. I don't need it to be an official feature.

I've wanted a Dr Frankenfurter for years.

I appreciate that people want EA/Maxis to include gender minorities, but if they did, they would have to do it like facebook with their fifty billion different terms and it wouldn't suit the game - in my opinion. > > Personally, transitioning was never traumatic for me and I am open and honest about my situation, cause I have become fierce and fearless in general due to the upbringing I've had do go through. I have no family (though I had to cut them out of my life long before I came out, they do not support my decision) and I'm perfectly fine. > > However, I didn't have myself in mind when I mentioned how it usually is a traumatic experience for transgender people. Many have to deal with a lot on top of transitioning. I think (although I'm speaking for myself) if I'm going to make an assumption, I'd say that maybe people use sims as an escapism and don't feel the need to have their gender issues included in the game. > > You have good intentions though and I want to give you all one big hug for being so all including - even Memina11's soul gets a hug. Also I feel a gender switching machine would be useless IMO because why not just choose that gender to begin with?

I agree that including the full reality and diversity of the transgender community would probably be a hugely ambitious undertaking, and yes, sadly, there would probably be a backlash. But simply making all hair, makeup and clothing available to Sims of either sex seems like something doable, and also something that isn't going "further" than the game's existing relationship options - is gender non-confirmity really less accepted and more controversial than homosexuality?

I think it's enough if you can do it with cc. If EA would include Transgenders officially they would have to include every other minority, too, like hermaphrodites or other sexualities. It would just be too much and the gaming experience would suffer. EA can acknowledge transgenders and other minorities as a company, without including them into TS. Also I agree that feeling you have the wrong gender is not like being gay. If you're gay you don't feel like there is something wrong with your body, it's a happy thing. As a transgender possibly feel like you are living in a body of the wrong gender. I'm not saying transgender is a bad thing, just that it can be a bad feeling for these people and it shouldn't be trivialized. (It's hard to express this via writing I just hope someone gets my meaning, it's really NOT an offense against trans) Also you can just create e.g. a male in sims and give him/her a female name vice versa.

Honestly, I would like it if ALL clothing/hair/makeup options were made available to both sexes.
Not gonna lie, I use (or used, as the case is) The Sims to figure out who I am. It helps. So it'd be nice to have these options.

Home Sims 4 Other Transgender Trait
Select a game Farming Simulator 19 Euro Truck Simulator 2 World of Tanks MudRunner Grand Theft Auto V American Truck Simulator SnowRunner Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Sims 4 Red Dead Redemption 2 Fallout 76 BeamNG.drive Farming Simulator 22 City Car Driving
Accessories (19) Careers (51) Clothing (319) Eye Colors (12) Floors (1) Hair (175) House / Lots (93) Interior (18) Makeup (39) Objects (74) Other (288) Pets (0) Recolors (9) Sets (13) Shoes (22) Sims (2) Skintones (7) Tattoo (14) Terrain Paint (4) Toddler (8) Traits (15) Walls (10)
This is a very simple trait which disallows/allows access to the breast slider for transgender Sims, while still retaining the female/male assigned sex. It is intended to more genuinely represent chest reconstruction and is available for Teens through Elder.
How the Trait Works ✔ Create a Sim and select the Transgender trait, found in the Lifestyle category. It is not recommended you physically customize the Sim at this time, as restricted access/access to the sliders requires the trait to be recognized in-game first. If you already have an existing Sim and are adding the trait to them, they will still need to follow the next steps ✔ Move in the Sim(s) and/or enter the game ✔ Direct the Sim to sleep ✔ When the Sim awakens, open the cheat window (CTRL + SHIFT + C), enable the cheats console (testingcheats true) enter the cheat which allows full editing to the Sims in CAS (cas.fulleditmode) ✔ Enter Create-A-Sim and customize the Sim
Sims who were assigned female now no longer have access to the breast slider, regardless of the masculine or feminine frame. Sims who were assigned male now do have access to the breast slider, regardless of the masculine or feminine frame.
Known Issues Sims who were assigned female will not be able to go topless; the basic bra/underwear still appears. They will appear topless in the shower or if the “Change into Nude” outfit change is chosen, although it does not perfectly mimic an assigned male Sim’s chest. Similarly, in CAS, when selecting tattoos, the basic bra/underwear still shows Sims who were assigned male will not be able to go topless. However, in CAS, when selecting tattoos, there is no bra/underwear although it does not perfectly mimic an assigned female Sim’s chest Because this is a CAS trait, it can appear on randomly generated townies, which can result in inconsistent gender expression as far as clothes, hair, facial hair, etc. I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to make this a reward trait (either purchasable or via aspiration) and I do not have the scripting knowledge to code something that would restrict the trait from being available to said randomly generated characters. I appreciate your understanding and can only hope someone with more coding knowledge than myself can create something that does what this trait does – but better – some day soon
Additional Credits: Zerbu for creating Mod Constructor v4
Updates 9/20/19: Removed a test condition that was preventing the trait from taking effect if the assigned gender was changed in CAS after entering the game 7/17/20: Confirmed Working With Most Recent Patch. Added French Translation; Thank You Thyellodis! 11/10/20: Updated for patch 1.68, which broke custom traits. HOWEVER, please note! As per Zerbu: “The issue is due to the UI not understanding 64-bit trait IDs, and the solution is to use 32-bit IDs instead. Unfortunately, this has the side effect of breaking compatibility with existing saved games and saved Sims in your library. If you already have Sims with custom traits, they will lose them and you’ll have to re-apply them. There’s nothing I can do to fix this.” In other words, because I made the original trait with Mod Constructor which was using 64-bit trait IDs, there may be issues with any saved games you had using my custom traits and the fix is to re-add the trait to the Sim(s) using it, now that the updated version is using 32-bit IDs.
