Hi, I'm currently having an issue with my game. My game has been perfectly fine for a very long time now, but for some reason, I'm getting this problem where if I play the game now, the game would freeze, but the animations and sounds would continue (plumb bob spinning, rain is still falling, etc.).

My game seems to be locking up quite a bit but the animations keep going. For example, the snoring "Z"s keep coming, one sim was cleaning the toilet and the water kept moving, smoke continues to billow from a bust laptop, the fountain in the yard keeps...fountaining.
First, what do you mean that the game crashes but the animations keep going? A game crash would mean the game stops, and exits, and isn't running any more, so there couldn't be animations continuing. Maybe something else is happening? Next, are you limiting the framerate through an external application, such as your video card control panel, or Riva Tuner? (you should be with a good system).

whenever i play the sims 3 i can play for a few minutes before the game freezes- kinda. for example, if a sim is sleeping the "z"s above their head will still move and animate, and the plumbob will continue spinning like normal. catch is i cant move my current camera angle from when it crashed and i cannot click on any other tab things that check stuff like skills, work, and needs (not sure ...
Recently a weird glitch happens with my game, after a bit of playing, the game freezes but some animations continue (water ripples, plum bobs, stuff like that) but time freezes and sims don't move.
Inside either Applications or Users > your username > Applications is a "The Sims 3.app" and a "The Sims 3 Packs" folder. Within that folder, there's a subfolder for each installed pack, labeled by type and release date; Pets is EP05.
And the game still completely freezes up after 3 minutes, will stay frozen for several minutes, and then will continue to freeze every few seconds after the initial one.

I've been noticing this too in my game and even more so the more I play. It will freeze for a few seconds every morning between 3-5 am. This is when the game spawners on lots and in the world do their thing. They'll spawn new flowers, bugs, gems, rocks, etc. It's also when Overwatch will do it's cleanup. Saving the game using Save As seems to help.

So I recently updated my graphics drivers, and I installed Nraas and SmoothPatch 2.1 from Lazy Duchess to my Sims 3 folder. My game worked before, but was laggy and not... erm...
My game will run for at least 5 minutes and then completely freeze, while animations continue to run. I have one core mod, and store bought cc. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both cc and expansions. The freezing began before I even installed the mod. I tuned down my graphics, and it didn't work either.
So the problem is that sometimes my game freezes so that i can't click anywhere and animations stops as well. Sound effects still works though (like rain for example).
Essentially, for periods of about maybe 4-6 in game hours, once every couple in game weeks, the game will just begin a spurt of freezes that last about 20 seconds, with not much time to react in between. 3X speed will trigger it almost immediately as it unfreezes. 1X speed will allow for a couple in game minutes to pass before the following freeze.

sims 3 freezes but animations move i have the sims 3 with the expansions; supernatural, pets, and ambitions. ive been playing for a while with no problems but out of no where my game freezes up every few minutes for a while but trees and wings and the plumbob still moves...its getting really annoying
If that doesn't really fix the freezing/animation still plays thing, I export both the family and their house and start a new Sims 3 folder and a new game with them.

-Patching base game to latest version, it was the only one that wasn't up to date. -Deleting all mods, downloads/custom content, and saved games. -Recreating the Sims 3 folder in Documents by renaming it and starting the game. -Date Execution Prevention -Installed Showtime with the hope that it would update with that patch and fix the problem.

Another issue I'm having, on a different lot, is that time continues, but the sims are, again, stuck in their animations and no progress is achieved on any of their tasks. Hello, I'm at my wits' end with this stuttering problem in Sims 3. Specifically, my game freezes every few seconds, specifically the sims and camera, while everything else like audio, trees, and water continues to move. These freezes occur every few seconds and can last for up to 30 seconds.
Mostly it happens around at 3am because the game system cleaning the town. Usually, you don't get this at the beginning of a new play, but if you keep playing the same save quite a long time, you start getting this freezing, but usually it's back to normal after 1 sim hr.

More often it has to do with how much memory my computer uses while experiencing intermittent freezes, no matter what world I play or if I load a saved game. I do have 2GB of RAM in my computer but it's more preferable to post my DxDiag here as I am on a 64-bit Windows 7 system.

Im having the same issue as the other person, almost 65% of the time my game gets stuck in a animation loop, my sim can be in an action & the time will freeze & my sim will continue stuck in that animation. it stops whenever i save the game or go to manage worlds but its still a consistent problem.

The clock periodically freezes in my game. My sims and all other actions and animations continue as normal, including day/night progression.

The gist of it is, my Sims are freezing every few seconds, but the rest of the game remains dynamic (e.g., the Plumbob keeps moving, snow/rain keeps falling etc). While the Sims are frozen, I can't pause/unpause the game or tilt the camera. Anyone know of any fixes for this, please? Thank you!
But some reason, especially when going out to the community lots and my sim would go home, it would start freezing every few seconds making the game basically unplayable. The fps is not dropping, the plumbobs, animation and everything are running and circling, but my sim and characters would freeze. It's annoying. Is there any fix to this?
Like the title says. The game freezes, the animations keep working but the clock stops. Also, I can´t click on anything nor can I reset my sims. I have updated my mods and even tried to play it vanilla but this keeps happening. Does this have something to do with the lastest update?
Just recently I started to play the Sims 3 and had no problems of crashing or freezing. Whenever the clock in game reaches 12:05 AM the game all the sims freeze but the environment continues to do whatever it's doing (For example the trees will still move). I'm not sure what I can do to fix this.

Where the fps doesn't drop, but the game is unresponsive while some animations and sounds still play. TLDR: The absolute GAME CHANGER was installing Nraas add-on ErrorTrap.
