Simple Auction Proof-of-Story 20 Billion Reichsbanknote

Reichsbnaknote in frame

This is a bill from October 1923. In that time it was notoriously hard hard to calculate actual purchasing power of any papermarks on hand. Lets look at table calculated by Bresciani-Turroni & Costantino.

Rates for goldmarks nominated in papermarks by various averaging methods

They provide 3(!) ways to estimate goldmark price in papermarks. In October, obviously purchasing power of the 20B bill should be equal to fraction of goldmark. Let us put it on another way. Look at the plot we have prepared for you:

Red star is for 20B nominal

This plot actually illustrates the impossibility of any economic calculation in Weimar republic in the end of 1923 especially if we assume that prices of commodities in gold marks should be fairly stable or, given that gold should have had tremendous purchasing power, they should became cheaper.

The condition of the bill is very good. It is actually brand new or how Germans speak "Kassenfrisch" which means something like "Cashier fresh". Here are enlarged views.
