Snapchat's chief talent officer Simmi Singh has become the latest in a series of executives to depart the company this year.
Singh's departure was first reported by the technology news site The Information , which said Snapchat fired Singh just seven months after she was hired. According to the story, published on Saturday, Singh was central to several key hirings, such as former
Mattel
executive Drew Vollero as vice president of finance and acting chief financial officer in August. Snapchat confirmed Singh's departure but wouldn't say whether she was fired.
Singh previously worked at executive search firm Egon Zehnder. Singh is one of a handful of executives to leave the company this year. Snapchat's former COO Emily White departed in March, former director of human resources Sara Sperling departed in February and former sales head Mike Randall, who was hired by White, departed in January.
All eyes are on the startup as it aims to turn its popular app into a robust business. Snapchat launched in-app purchases for this first time last week, allowing users to pay to re-watch ephemeral messages. The app has about 100 million daily active users, and about 65% of users create content on Snapchat every day. But despite its large user base, the company’s revenue is still in its infancy. Re/code reported in July that Snapchat is expecting about $50 million in revenue this year, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter.
Snapchat was founded by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy at Stanford in 2011. In May, Snapchat raised $538 million in new funding, reportedly valuing the company at about $16 billion.

(AP/Jae C. Hong) Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has stayed at the helm.
Snapchat has lost eight upper-level executives in the past year, with only one lasting past the eight month mark.
While turnover among leadership is not unusual at a startup, especially in a time where there is a fierce war for talent, it does raise a tiny red flag that the $16 billion startup is losing so much upper level management.
Here's a rundown of who has left in the last year:
Peter Magnusson has been musical chairs amongst tech companies. Magnusson left his role as engineering director at Google to join the Snapchat team in February 2014 . He only lasted six months as its VP of Engineering before he joined Oracle as senior vice president, working on its cloud services.
Mike Randall , Snapchat's revenue boss, resigned from his position in January 2015 after just seven months. Randall originally came over from Facebook where he was a global director of its Preferred Marketing Developer program. There's no word as to what Randall's been up to since January.
HR director Sara Sperling departed in February 2015 after lasting eight months. She also jumped ship from Facebook, but reportedly left the company for personal reasons one month after Randall. In May, Sperling joined delivery company DoorDash as its head of HR .
COO Emily White had the longest stint at the social network. White left her director role at Facebook in January 2014 to join Snapchat. She stayed for a year and three months before leaving in March 2015 . White's LinkedIn lists her as CEO and founder of a new project.
Simmi Singh , the chief talent officer, was reportedly fired from her post in September 2015. She spent seven months at the company, which she had joined after leaving her job as a partner at head hunting agency Egon Zehnder.
Shannon Petranoff was leading creative strategy for Snapchat before she decided to return to her old job at Paramount Pictures with a promotion. Hired in March 2015, Petranoff left the startup seven months later in September to become senior vice president of interactive marketing for the movie studio.
Marcus Wiley , a Fox veteran, was caught in October's layoffs at Snapchat after the company decided to shut down its original content efforts on Discover. That department was the one Wiley was hired to lead in May , making his tenure a short five months.
Jill Hazelbaker , Snapchat's VP of communications and public policy, is the latest executive that we know of to depart in October. Re/Code reported that the PR expert is joining Uber and reporting to her old boss at Google, Rachel Whetstone.

The first half ended last week, and the S&P 500 is now firmly stuck in a bear.
