Sihanoukville buying snow
Another national holiday means another trip to the islands. This time I chose somewhere that has been high on my list for several months. The island was beautiful but, like Koh Ta Kiev, is just in the early stages of development and soon will be a big, noisy, dusty construction site. For now there are several pristine and quiet beaches to enjoy as well as a network of paths scattered across the Hong Kong-sized island. There is also a good mix of drunken dudes advertising various Asian beers on their tank-tops and normal people. The island is big enough that if I decide to go back, I can stay somewhere else, use different transportation to get there!!! On the way back to Phnom Penh, I stopped by Kep for a couple of nights. I decided to wander off into the jungle instead. In Kep National Park there are some well-marked walking trails of various skill levels which means again, I can return and have a completely different experience. The life of a teacher…. There are a lot of Russians in Sihanoukville and the islands off the coast but strangely, this island is not named for the Ukrainian capital. The island, like many Cambodian islands, is about to undergo a transformation. Developers have been making plans for resorts and hotels which means that for the next decade the island will be a construction site and after that, a vacation spot for rich Chinese. Koh Ta Kiev in particular is being developed by a Chinese company who have already bulldozed metre-wide swaths of forest to make way for new roads. For now, the island is nice little spot for snorkeling, swimming, and drinking a coconut on the beach. My summer holiday has begun and instead of going home most like many of my colleagues, I have opted to save the money and stay in Cambodia. The transition between Albania and Indonesia was tough. The trip home was quick, sad, and stressful and when I arrived in Surabaya, I felt like garbage for the first few months. Not to mention, it was a bit difficult financially to go three months without a paycheck. My arrival in Cambodia a year later was better emotionally but not financially. The following photos are of the first of these trips, a 3 day romp to the lovely beach town of Sihanoukville. Thankfully, it rained the majority of the time so I had an excuse to sit in various eateries for hours and hours while catching up on some reading. I write this from the lazy riverside town of Kampot which I have visited twice previously so my next post will be filled with rainy photos of mountains and jungles. The school year is finished. Exams are marked and grades are turned in, report cards have been handed out, the classroom has been cleaned, dance parties have been had, and prawn-flavoured junk food has been eaten. All that is required of me is to wear my bright yellow shirt and stand on stage while eight of my students receive certificates for their superior academic performance and the other 13 watch enviously. For the remaining 2 hours and 50 minutes, I get to hang out with my students at the back of the theatre and halfheartedly try to keep the noise level down. This year has been my favourite so far in terms of my job. My advice for first-year teachers: It Gets Better. When the school year is coming to an end, the weather is getting warmer, the snow is melting, and everyone just seems to be in a better mood? Well, I never expected to have that same feeling in a country that has a constant temperature between 25 and 35 degrees, but strangely I do. My plans are simple: go to the beach, go to the mountains, host some couch surfers, read some books, and sleep past am. There are also used book stores which have a decent selection but the best-sellers tend to get scooped up pretty quickly. What I yearn for is theology or, more specifically, atheology, or at the very least, some Aldous Huxley. I predict that my next post will be more focused and contain much more photos of the beach and the sea. Dad arrived last Wednesday and we spent the first few days of his visit bumming around the city. On the weekend we took a tuk-tuk to Silk Island and found a wonderful little resort with amazing pizza and an infinity pool. A couple of islands off the coast of Otres 2, Sihanoukville. A couple of crabs, locked in a dance of death. Sleeping butterfly. I know it was sleeping because its eyes were closed. Admiring the handing work of the teeny tiny crabs. Safety in numbers when crossing the street in Phnom Penh. I had heard a lot about Sihanoukville and it was not high on my list of places to visit. Maybe this is the case during peak tourism season November-March or something like that but we had a very different experience. More delicious and cheap beach food. When we arrived in the town we took a tuk-tuk directly to Otres Beach which is about 10 minutes out of town. Surprisingly and not in a sarcastic way , this place was shut down. Since we slept on the bus we were able to get right down to business as soon as we arrived and immediately ordered beers and staked our claim at some loungers on the beach. We took breaks from lounging and drinking to eat some of the delicious beach food that came by on the heads of friendly Khmer women and we also took advantage of some swings hanging from the trees. Kids collecting bottles. The more they bail, the harder the waves come in. Piglets for sale in Phnom Penh. Skip to content Home About. This photo only cost me a dollar! Combining the average time spent at each location and traveling time in between, it should fill up about 10 hours of your day. Phsar Leu Market, also known as Upper Market, is a bustling and authentic marketplace located in the heart of Sihanoukville. While it does have some souvenir stalls for tourists, it primarily caters to locals with its diverse sections offering everything from fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables to clothing, jewelry, and household items. With close to vendors, the market offers a wide range of goods including bathing suits, children's clothing, gold jewelry and watches. Amazing authentic traditional khmer market in Sihanoukville. You can purchase your food there and then cook it for a small fee directly in the market. I can guarantee tou will be certain that your food is fresh. There was scallops, soft and hard shell crab, shellfish, fish, octopus and squid. This market offers more choice at a lower price than in Kampot. That is why I recommend to go to Sihanoukville rather than Kampot. With the commissioning of the new highway, it is almost as fast to go to these two cities from phnom penh. I also shared the phone number of the chef who offered several Khmer recipes and seasonings fresh green pepper sauce, fried garlic sauce , he also sold not too sweet fish sauce, rice and cutlery. PS : Came across some graphic content. A small new born of less than 6 month having a shower inside a basin whithin the market. Smelly and packed with people. Busy and lively small lanes with different kinds of goods. Barbers and beauty area as well. Well you can immerse yourself in the mayhem of Cambodia daily life. We managed about 50minutes wandering around here. Lots to see , hear but more often , smell! We found quite a few money exchange kiosks around local streets nearby and they were good rates If you want to get a feel of everyday life give this a visit. Be aware and be on your toes and you should be OK. Interesting place to visit if you want to know where the Cambodians buy there groceries. It has a good selection of fresh fish and seafood along with meat and vegetables if you want. The top part is more clothes and odds and ends. On a hygiene level, not for the faint of heart. A lot of goods here, seafood is very cheap. There are cooking services to make seafoods become a fantastic disks :. If you are western foreigner you will be ripped off probably.. Usually we like going to local markets and support family businesses.. Cleaned up nicely since I was last here a few years ago. Always the go to place to buy fresh live seafood. Next to this market at stalls that will cook your seafood for a small fee. Then it's off to the beaches for a great day! Nice and big local market. Fresh seafood and fruits here Don't be afraid. It was great with noodles , rice and coffee. Seafood also fresh. Seperate part of cheaper and more expensive! People come here to buy seafood, cook and take away to the beach. Price is cheap and acceptable. Many of homeless peoples in the main way of market, that make not good feeling. Very interesting and exciting market. If you are a tourist, make sure you are careful. If you want to buy very fresh seafood while visiting Sihanouville please come here. There are all kinds of fresh seafood and there is a place for cooking service for you, the only downside is you need a lot of experience to buy the good and high quality seafood since there is no identify either which one is good and bad for standard. The cooking place is pretty crowded so you need to have patience waiting in line. Recommend for adventure to enjoy explore new things and experience with have enough time. If you are tight on schedule, please go to the resort or beach directly for fast food service. Vibrant maze.. It gets four stars only because it's the only place in town where you can find a lot of odd items. But it smells, floors look to have never been cleaned. If I can buy something elsewhere, I'll always opt for that instead. But when you really need some odd thing, it's your best bet. Spoiler alert: I was the only foreigner there, making me feel like an explorer in an uncharted territory! My tour guide? A local Khmer lady with a knack for weaving through stalls like a pro. She introduced me to a smorgasbord of local foods, turning breakfast into an epic culinary adventure at a quaint food stall. Who knew rice could do that? The authenticity of the market? It's like they've never heard of 'touristy'. Fresh produce that looked like it just won 'Miss Farm Cambodia', trinkets that held more stories than a library, and the hustle and bustle? Music to my ears! So if you're ever in Sihanoukville and crave a taste of the real Cambodia, march straight to Pshar Leu. And hey, if you do bump into another tourist, maybe check your map again! It is really good experience to explore and choose our favorite and fresh seafood. After, we can ask them to cook few simple dishes such as fried with green paper, curry seafood, steam, and other. The cooking fee start from riels 3. The seafood depending on the size and options from riels for shrimp. Parking have back and front of the Market. But so busy for cooking side. We need waiting their. Place is very authentic offering local produce, housewares, fashion and basically everything you may require. Get ready for non western butcheries chopping frogs and turtles. Not for the weak hearted. Excellent food stalls. Must visit if you are in town. We regularly go here to buy our supplies. I somehow long time in Cambodia so I have regular shops to go to for my needs - dry goods, meat, fruits, seafoods clothes, appliances etc. Some shops are also quite expensive better check the area first so you can compare the price. I also make friend to some of the sellers - just ask nicely and they are willing to help. Just be respectful to them. Never ever again! Disrespectful against animals and nature! Outdoor Activities. Italian restaurant. Show 5 more. Guests can enjoy meals at any of the 4 in-house restaurants, as well as slots and gaming tables. This place is amazing. But the snacks, why so expensive!? The service was amazing but the location just put the tower on the coast why 2 separate buildings? I still loved this. The hotel and staff are excellent. Friendly, caring and welcoming. The fact that the rooms are on one side of the street and the restaurants, beach and pool on the other is no problem, the golf cart brings you accros. But the town on this side is not nice. For us perfect, we just wanted to chill, but if you want to see things there is not much around. All unfinished buildings. This is the 2nd time I have been here. It still works great. Last time I slept at its old building while this time I slept at its new building at the back of another side street. I love its interior design and especially it offered tools for customer to use in the room are well prepared. Great service and facilities! The staffs at both hotel and restaurant area are wonderful and very friendly. The room is big with a beautiful view with a nice selection for their breakfast. Best place to stay and super accessible to the seashores and beach! The Hotel was very clean, nice decorations, the bed so soft to make me deep sleep very long. The Restaurant next to the beach and swimming is huge very very nice design modern. Staff very friendly with experience to serve us. Really good stay. See you again. Good service, beautiful location, and overall pleasant experience for me. I book 2 rooms both had sea views. Toilets were clean, bed sheets were clean and they checked upon me to make sure I'm having a good time. I'll be going there again definitely. We have been travelling around Asia for the last 4 months and this was by far, the best all round hotel experience we have had. The staff are helpful and very friendly, the rooms are large and clean and the location is great. The hotel has awesome beach frontage dining, entertainment, and casino along with pool and much more. Breakfast was great selection! I will definitely stay here on next trip. Good and clean hotel near the ferries, of you need to stay a night to get to Koh Rong Sanloem Incan definitely recommend to stay there. Only downturn: you have to change the buildings and go to the other side of the street for breakfast and pool area. Check in experience was horrible, staff hospitality was definitely not there. Uninformed policy of upfront cash deposit, if you transfer electronically, they will return in cash. If you lost deposit paper, no return, even if you have the photo of it. The hotel itself is not located next to the beach, the casino is. Could pay the same price for much better options along Otres or Orcheuteal!!! Will not return to this hotel. This is our second time staying at Queenco hotel and the experience we had was as good as the first, which was before the pandemic took place. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a black and white modern theme, accompanied by beautiful art pieces on the walls. We also loved the cleanliness, spaciousness and coziness of the room. This wonderful experience is further enhanced by the superb sea view from our hotel room, which allowed us to view the gorgeous sunrise and sunset scenery from the comfort of our beds. The next X factor to rave about is the international breakfast buffet which includes a good spread of Khmer, Asian, American and European food. The egg Benedict is a must try as I felt the taste and quality is close to Michelin standard. Other breakfast items like the American breakfast with sunny side up eggs is worth trying too. This dining pleasure is intensified by the fact that we could have breakfast by the beach, which we enjoyed very much every morning. Lastly, we must also not forget to mention the impeccable service provided by Mr Sean, the Manager and his team. They were able to provide us with personalised service by going beyond to meet all our requests throughout our stay. Thank you for giving us a memorable experience and we will be back again soon! This is an amazing white sand beach front location. It's a lot better than the public area since you are not being bothered by vendors or random security guards. Sushi here is excellent some of the best that I have had. They also have a pretty deep swimming pool of you didn't want to venture into the gulf of Thailand. Cocktails were not that stiff here so you can pass on those. It was a great holiday, the service was amazing, the food was delicious. I never had some experience like this before, thanks on Mr. Charly from the reception too. The food taste normal but the service is so bad, I ask the waiter some questions and they just ignored my question and that is so rude. It also takes so long for them to serve me the food. Not recommend. It is nice.. It will be one of my new hang-out places whenever i need to unwind after work.. I would also try to come in during daytime so i can appreciate the beach and the view better.. THIS is an exceptional property. The staff, The beach front location, the beautiful pool with table and chaise full food and drink service. All done very professionally, with standards. Front Desk Supt. Ken Somros was the first to make an impression on me as a guest. I felt not only welcomed but that no request was too big or too small. Sean Saing, Hotel Manager is not sitting in an office. He's on the floor greeting guests, creating relationships with guests, and making sure everyone's happy. The quality of the food I found consistently very good, in some cases the best in presentation, and freshness. The breakfast is presented like fine dining with pride. The sunsets are out of a Hollywood movie. The private beach is intimate and scenic. Dine seaside, with your feet in the sand as the sunsets over the water. A perfect place for romance, or enjoying that special occasion. I never wanted to leave. Truly, Jean MacGregor Brown. Im from Argentina playing poker at Queenco since 20 days and Charly makes my stay in the luxury hotel and I coordinate my trips to Koh rong and around the town? He's always at the time to make my days easier. Come to Queenco and ask for Charly! The location itself is pleasant and the view is beautiful. The Independence Hotel is much better, learn the service from it. Had a great stay at Queenco. Service was amazing particularly from Mr Charly and Mr Marith who helped with transport , accomodating my family etc much appreciated.. Good pool, restaurant on the beach so nice and relaxing, gym also excellent and used by my son. We would stay again. Very friendly manager Mr. Charly support all things , good Hotel and nive restaurant view and swimming pool. Quite place around hotel , and free suttle car for short distance to center. Fantastic stay in this lovely hotel, in a prime location, 1min walk from the private beach, and the best beach stretch with white sand and lovely clear water. Can swim, as the sea is so calm. The staff are wonderful, and so helpful, and friendly. Staff are so friendly and such a homely atmosphere. The front office staff are very knowledgeable and always at hand to help and go beyond their duties. Free shuttle service to the city centre in a luxury vehicle, Amazing!! Great breakfast with local and foreign cuisine. Lovely pool and sunbeds, and massage on site, again, superb. Room service is prompt, and efficient, and no one is waiting for tips. The staff are very attentive, and so friendly, but not waiting for tips. Not a very trustworthy place especially at the bar where the live band is. If they think you are drunk you will for sure get a surprising bill. If you think you are going to drink a lot do not let them take the bottles away. Then you can easily count them when you ask for the bill. Casino resort by the bay. All in hotel Casino restaurant pool spa gym club , infinity pool a lot of motor sports option. Tasty food and drinks. Restaurants by the beach is beautiful, spa is a real Treat masseur is Thai and pro! Enjoyed spa. Also manager mr Charlie take care of all your needs. Hotel has 2 section activities and rooms both is connected by golf cart service. Need a place to stay? Where Search destinations. Rooms, guests. Rooms and guests. Otres Beach is a stunning stretch of white sand adorned with tamarisk and casuarina trees, making it a popular destination for first-time visitors to Sihanoukville. Despite the touristy shops and eateries, the beach has managed to maintain a cleaner and less crowded atmosphere compared to its neighbors. This three-kilometer crescent of white sand offers a more relaxed vibe, especially at the far end where it's less touristed. Very nice place for now and special price hotel Best after 5pm due to paralyzing heat. Since roads, wide sidewalks, and free public toilets n showers installed, it's been drawing in the local crowd n vendors. Looking up! Otres beach lose the charm and authenticity of its original because of the heavily of chinese investment in this area and overall sihanoukville. This beach used to be very nice and calm but not anymore. There are some hotels around this area. Not much here was my opinion, the large road and paved area next to the beach make the area look barren. Opposite large areas of derelict buildings or half built structures add nothing to it's charm. To be honest, avoid Sinoukville completely. The beach is stunning, but there is some litter and food waste along the pathway. Motorcyclists using the walkway should exercise caution. Nice place to catch the golden hour. It can be crowded at some spots but you can choose where you want to sit down. Pretty beach and good sand but unfortunately the Chinese are destroying the area with their high rise buildings making the Cambodian coastline a place for the lower income Chinese tourists to spend their holidays. The waters were clean and very warm, but the beach had a lot of garbage Although I must admit, one can catch a pretty impressive sunset from Otres beach, there is really nothing else interesting to do or to see here. It's my most favorite beach in Sihanoukville. It's nice and chill. Well, personally not very nice compared to before the massive construction better than a few months ago and years before. Otres is a long beach, a nice location close to many guesthouse and hotels around. I visited here on 24 - 25 Jan , it has changed a lot since my last visit back in There were no more kois, on the beach and it serves the public. You may bring your staff here if you preferred or you may rent from local vendors. Food is limited but there were a few options that you can order from local vendors at the beach. Presque hors du China-Town Translated by Google It would be a beautiful beach without all the plastic trash lying around everywhere Almost out of China-Town Lovely quiet beach. Boat trips are available to the islands. The odd jet ski for hire. Otres 2 doesn't have many restaurants but lots of street food. Sunset is nice. But the number of shacks on the beach kills it sometimes. Beach cannot remain clean due to their presence. No night life on the beach except Corner House on Orees 1. If you want a bit quite and relaxing, a good sunset view go in a bit far side of otres. The beach are clean with white sand and free of charge for everyone. There are food stall and foods seller walking but they are not selling main dish along the beach to sell grilled squids, octopus, papaya salad, fried meat ball and so on. It would be nice if you could bring ur own picnic mat, some foods and drinks. You could enjoy seeing sunset almost everyday beside raining day. National park. The falls are formed by the Prek Teuk Sap River as it flows over limestone cliffs, creating a stunning natural spectacle. Accessible by road, the journey to the waterfalls involves navigating a muddy and unpaved km approach with potholes, so caution is advised when driving. The attraction site itself has developed quite well. But the entrance to the site from the national road is still in bad condition, especially in rainy seasons. There are holes and also quite slippery. Sedan might be a bit difficult to access, but still accessible. It was meh until you see the steeper falls not the shallow pools most congregate at. Other than that, enjoy the underwhelming loud karaoke, cigarette smoke, rough access road, stray dogs, mosquitoes, and waist-high 'waterfalls. Nice nature but less water, better to go end of the year just after rainy season. Not cleaned, so a lot of trash and the new pp to SHV highway spoils the view now! It's free, but you technically need to pay Riel 0. I'd say it's worth it. I went there on 3rd February There was still some water. It's a chill place to relax in nature. There are some food stores there. Not too much plastic around. Prices are a little bit higher then usual but not absolutely overpriced. The road to the waterfall is quite scenic, easy to ride in the dry season. Oh My God! I'm really enjoy there it very fun. Beautiful view, amazing water fall, Love this place so much, nothing can describe my feeling toward it. I'm really happy to have many good memories here. It have many playsites of water and it so cold make me feel so relax. I will never forget this wonderful time of visiting here, love it so much. Easy to get to located on the Prek Tuk Sap River great scenery and a good place to swim and have a picnic if you so desire. Nice way to spend a bit of time out of Sihanoukville. We went on the river as well and visited a couple of fishing villages so all-inclusive thing with the falls it was a good day. I Recommended. The waterfall are really nice and fresh , if you wanted to go on a family trip or relax , enjoying your vacation I recommended this place. The good place to join picnics with family. Otherwise we can have small swim at the fresh and clean waterfall from the highest mountain in Sihanoukville. Highly recommend to relax with family during holiday. Local Spot! Alle super net. Translated by Google Local spot! All great. Probably the best place in the big city to escape. The road there is not asphalted, but you can easily get through on a scooter. You can drive over the bridge and follow the road very bad route you have to be experienced, then you come back out of the Jungle am Beache on the other side, you then come back to the city from the other side. Spectacular stranded tanker on dfm route. Adventure trip! Joli trajet pour s'y rendre depuis Sihanoukville : 40 minutes environ en scooter. Paillettes pour se restaurer. Translated by Google Nice journey to get there from Sihanoukville: around 40 minutes by scooter. End of February, little water but pleasant. Came on a weekday: no one and very quiet. Glitter for eating. Small market at the entrance allowing you to taste some local specialties. Nice Waterfall during rainy seasons. Not recommended for visit during dry seasons. Translated by Google We decided to visit this site because frankly Sihanoukville is to be avoided. It is located about 40 minutes from the city, there are 6km of quite bumpy track especially in Tuc Tuc but it is worth it, it is very pretty and peaceful apart from weekends, you can eat on site and relax in a hammock, the welcome from the villagers is not great, but the setting is definitely worth a look. Best natural waterfalls in Sihanoukville. First, they had this resrvoir nearby, which made the hourney here amazing fron the beautiful sceneries. Even though at that time, it's still unfinished. Then you arrive at the red sanded parking spot, walk a bit, cross the mini bridge then voila! The waterfalls and it's river! They also had these small huts to take rest or had lunch. All of them were locals btw, but don't worry, they won't bite : everyone just busy with their own thing. Enjoy the water from the falls, or walk a bit deeper to the smaller river. The water just cristal clear and shallow, perfect to take a dip. Refreshing after walking under the sun. Just be careful coz the river bed is a bit rocky and slippery. Rest your eyes in the hammock on such a noon. Young people sung and danced. They just jumped into the stream fully clothed. I like their freedom. This place offers an enchanting experience with abundant greenery and a breathtaking waterfall. The natural beauty is truly captivating. However, it's essential to be aware that the tranquility might be disturbed by loud noise from big speakers brought by some visitors. Despite that, if you can overlook the noise, the scenery is worth it. Do keep in mind that accessing the location from SHV can be challenging, especially during the rainy season, so plan your trip accordingly. It used to be cleaner years ago, a very peaceful place to have picnic with the family during weekends. Nature at its' best, as far as i can recall! Beautiful butterflies roam the grounds, not minding the people walking by. Those were the days that i was able to capture my best butterfly photos cause they didn't mind the click of my camera or if i get too close to take a shot. Now is a different scenario. No more butterflies on site. It has become more commercialized with a lot of kiosks and hawkers selling streetfoods to incoming local and foreign tourists. Young children going around selling flower crowns to girls and women. Hanging weaved chairs with decorative flowers were placed in different areas near the falls. You can sit and have your photo taken but with a fee for using the chair. Local photographers roam the area too. More wooden cottages with hammocks were built all around the place esp. If you get lucky and you order food from its' caretaker, the rent for the cottage is waived. It was all about earning a little bucks in this once beautiful place. I just hope that the management exert an effort to preserve the place by imposing strict sanitation guidelines for the people to follow. Litters can be seen everywhere. People dispose their trash anywhere. Putting up garbage bins in strategic place would help a lot. Kbal Chhay waterfalls is one of the popular attractions in SHV so keeping it presentable and clean for tourists would be ideal. Worth seeing if you have time and have already been to Wat Leu. Sihanoukville really doesn't have much else remarkable unless you love casinos. Better to spend your time in Koh Rong or Kampot if you're heading this direction. Waterfalls are nice. But place is way overcrowded and to focused on ripping off tourists. They have put checkpoint on the road that charges a buck per tourist Then bunch of ladies force selling junk. Prices are inflated on everything. Not coming back Ream National Park is a serene and peaceful nature reserve with a diverse range of landscapes including wetlands, stunning white sand beaches and lush hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy guided boat tours to soak in the scenic beauty around them. For those who prefer a more active exploration, biking through the park is an exhilarating experience. One of the highlights of Ream National Park is Lingam Peak which offers breathtaking views and makes for a great spot for picnics. Great experiences after we boarded a boat trip in Ream through mangrove channels and forest with a bit of swimming in Koh Som Poch Beach with lunch and then saw a few lovely dolphins near Koh Thmei Island. It was great! Make sure to come here before noon, it will be deserted and amazing but then around 11 the tourists buses came in. Take the western tourist line to go to the bridge to the Island. There's lots to explore here. I went to Wet injoy Waterpark. It is not often that you get a combination of exciting activities, delicious food and adrenaline pumping all in one place, and Wet n Joy Waterpark is certainly one of those locations. It is great place to. There're birds, wildlife, and fence in a walkway to protect nature. We explored this park by bike and it was just awesome. Lingam peak is defenetly worth to visit, bring some food with you, it is cool place to have picnic. Not worth the way too expensive Tuktuk trip we paid 25 dollars to get from Otres Beach to the park. When we arrived tours and boat trips appeared to be way more expensive than mentioned in the travel guide. The guide was nice and told us a lot about the Cambodian culture but it was definitely not worth 65 dollars Tuktuk and boat fee! Il ne faut pas y aller pour voir de la faune mais pour se reposer. Translated by Google Very pleasant and relaxing day departing from Sihanoukville. You should not go there to see wildlife but to relax. Chinese companies have now all important areas in Cambodia. So is allways an adventure to go where you want to go. Also Google maps is not to be trusted under all most any circumstance. So if you want to see something nice, must become 'creative'! Very nice and beautiful place with natural forest. Very good land scape and fresh air. It is the second largest island in the country and has undergone significant development in recent years. The island boasts stunning natural beauty with white sand beaches, forests, and coral reefs. Visitors can engage in various activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and sailboat charters. One of South East Asia's best kept secrets. A 45 minute trip by boat from the boom port city of sihanoukville, Koh Rong is a beautiful island with lush green landscapes and pristine beaches. The island is thankfully not commercialized.. Highly recommended! Such a beautiful Island! Loved the Island, the people and the Hotel 'Secret Garden'. The best place, best staff and the best food on the island!!! Thanks for everything!! Koh Rong is a paradise. Me and my family visited when it was rainy season but it was still a really good experience, out of 14 days it was raining for like 2 days for mins so it was no problem. Water was crystal clear. We had some problems with monkeys but you have to learn how to deal with them, it was alright in the end. I encourage everyone to explore the island. This island is just amazing! One of the best places I have been to in SE Asia. It's perfect if you are looking for a place that didn't got super touristy yet and combines beautiful beaches with the local island life and wild nature. A lot of people say it looks like Thai islands 15 years ago, there are no roads on the island and not all to many resorts. Great place to chill! Paradise island! I really enjoyed my time there and try eating with the locals near the pier. Relaxing with the nature. My first impression was feeling in love with the nature there. Everything freshly. The food was good with acceptable prices. Piece of paradise, water clear and powder sand. Advice to get a scooter so you can explore the island. Sadly there is some plastic around, and hope the island will not be ruined from upcoming resort. Koh Rong is one of the most beautiful islands around Cambodia. One of the best beach or in other words, one of the most beautiful beach in south east asia, ist the Long Beach 7,5km Long. The sand is like snow powder. And the water is crystal clear!!! The second beautiful beach is the 4K beach near the longset pier. The prices are really high!!! But on the other hand, you have the most beautiful beach in front of you. The south of the island, 4K Beach and also white beach, there are some few good food options for an average price available. But the entertainment facilities on the island are bad. I think it is excusable that one car is broken, but both cars are broken, obviously the business is deceiving consumers. The experience is very poor, don't fall into the trap of the merchant. Absolutely paradise Island and in low season some beaches completely empty. Rent a bike to go around.. Prevent with coconut oil, otherwise you will get stung like me and you will compromise your vacation. The bites can be extremely hitching!!! It feels odd to review an island created by Mother Nature, the white sand is incredible and the water is clear. But the human aspect deserves a review. The Royal Group is going to turn this island into a Chinese resort with casinos, golf courses and a new airport. Many people agree, the island is already expensive but this will make it a luxury destination. We spoke with a couple local people from the village and they are far from happy about the island take over. They are losing their land and are powerless to stop the developers. Nightly accommodations are extremely expensive for the quality and service provided. Sadly this bungalow was the same price as our favorite hotel on a beach, complete amenities in Vietnam, but to compare the two is laughable. Food is double to triple the price from the mainland and neighboring countries. Very nice snorkelling spots and the beaches are very pretty! Rent a moped to get around the island to see the other beaches!! Slice of Paradise. Clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Buuut - also depends where exactly you go. Totally worth it. But would advise to come with some 7-Eleven shopping before coming as no shops nearby like in the beaches in the south. Loved it. Koh Rong, an idyllic island off the coast of Cambodia, captivates visitors with its pristine beaches, azure waters, and lush tropical landscapes. Stepping onto its shores feels like entering a paradise untouched by time. The island offers a diverse range of activities, from lazing on the powdery white sands of Long Beach to exploring the vibrant marine life through snorkeling or diving in crystal-clear waters. The laid-back atmosphere of Koh Rong is complemented by the friendly locals and charming beachfront accommodations. Accommodations vary from rustic bungalows to upscale resorts, catering to different preferences and budgets. The island's nightlife, centered around beach parties and fire shows, adds a lively touch to the tranquil setting. For nature enthusiasts, trekking through the dense jungles reveals hidden waterfalls and panoramic viewpoints. However, the island strikes a balance between adventure and relaxation, making it suitable for both thrill-seekers and those seeking serenity. While the lack of extensive infrastructure contributes to its unspoiled charm, visitors should be prepared for basic amenities. Limited Wi-Fi and sporadic electricity may be encountered, but these elements only enhance the rustic experience of Koh Rong. In conclusion, Koh Rong stands as a haven for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural charm, and a laid-back atmosphere. I love this island. It has the perfect blend of fun and beauty. If you want peaceful paradise there is a beach for it. If you want all night party there is a beach for it Never seen more perfect sand and sea. Interesting mixture from 5 star resorts to a backpacker village, beautiful beaches and all that goes along with each. My experience on Koh Rong left me utterly dissatisfied, contradicting the dream that was sold to me of a paradise with white-sand beaches and crystal-blue waters. While those elements were present to some extent, the pervasive issue overshadowing the island is the alarming amount of rubbish strewn across its shores. Staying at Koh Touch only intensified this problem, with an overwhelming amount of litter around the numerous restaurants. Even resorts, where efforts were occasionally made to clear debris in the immediate vicinity, failed to address the broader concern. Long Srt Beach, extending a wide length of the island, was shockingly inundated with refuse. Resorts along the beach made token efforts to tidy the area directly in front of their deckchairs, but just a short stroll down the beach revealed heaps of rubbish washing up from other regions or carelessly discarded by locals. Even seemingly quieter beaches like Coconut Beach and Long Beach Sok San were not immune to this issue, albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Witnessing people sunbathing and taking pictures seemingly oblivious to the garbage surrounding them left me deeply disheartened. Despite the evident problem, there was a stark lack of visible efforts to address it. Instead of witnessing active initiatives to combat the issue, I observed half-naked sunbathers and individuals practicing yoga amidst encroachments of plastic. The island has been declared unsafe for swimming due to contamination, yet this did not deter people from indulging in the waters. The stark contrast between the island's natural beauty and the blatant environmental neglect is disconcerting and demands urgent attention. A nice small Island. To relax on. Find a private beach at a resort, or join in on the fun at Lonset or Koh Touch. With many people. Very quiet and clean island, White sand beaches and good vibes. Couldn't find an ATM so be aware and come with enough cash before. Even the most seasoned adventurers need a break to chow down some food. Close to Phsar Leu Market, these restaurants are about a 6-minute walk away. Craft store. With a deep social conscience, the bakery also assists with water sanitation and healthcare initiatives in Cambodia. Amazing cafe, great to work from Wifi speed is high for Cambodia and most important is truly a great cause. This is a non-profit that helps people with disabilities and is making a huge difference. Best chicken sandwich and coffee with support local community! Highly recommend when you are in sihanoukville. One of the best places for sweets and snacks in Shanoukville, everything is fresh, no GMF and organic, we got the cookie, the brownie and the mediterranean sandwich we loved it!!! Totally recommend. Amazing place, very calm like an oasis in the busy center. The food is delicious as well and you are doing something good by supporting them. The rice bread and plain yoghurt there are excellent. The pastry products were less amazing. The only chocolate chip cookie, I had there, tasted like it was on the shelf for a few days. It wasn't really fresh. The brownies were better, but not really good. The rest of the food was usually of good quality. The service is friendly and attentive. The time, until food was served, usually was a bit too slow. I was there several times. A nice and shady reprieve from the noise of the city. Breakfast is decent, coffee too. Did not try the pastry but they looked scrumptuous. The shop has some interesting things to buy as souvenirs; tourists may find the prices at the shop a little higher than expected but it goes to a good cause and there are a variety of knock knacks to choose from so you don't have to necessarily fork out so much to contribute. The brown rice bread is amazing. They give a chance for diffable to get same quality live. Very tranquil spot in the middle of a hectic city - good mission as well. Detox juice recommended! Permanently closed. Resort hotel. The food is top-notch with excellent homemade pizzas and pasta that will surely satisfy your cravings for Italian cuisine. They also offer a good selection of wines to complement your meal. The atmosphere exudes holiday vibes, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the sunset. Additionally, they have well-maintained bungalows on the beach for accommodation. Nice and clean beachfront, well-maintained. Great to hangout esp. But be sure to make an early booking if you would be needing a room cause the resort is popular esp. So booking early is highly recommended. The owners are accommodating and friendly including the staff. I always feel safe coming here, i don't need to worry about my stuff while swimming cause i find them trustworthy. But of course, it is always best to take care of your belongings. Good Italian cuisine are served here. I like their pizza a lot, thin and crispy! We ordered the pepperoni and ended up getting 2 due to their buy 1 get 1 half off special from pm and of course because of how delicious it was! We loved the large containers of herb and chili infused olive oil offered as well. There are a lot of options for housemade gelato as well. We chose the passion fruit and loved it!! Really nice chill place Really good pizzas and piadinas even for European pizza standards I would say , nice music and atmosphere, competent staff. Also options for vegetarians more difficult for vegans I guess. It is somewhat expensive. The pizza was however big and good quality. A very good place to take a rest from Asian food if needed ;. Went for lunch and had the Puttanesca gnocchi. Was very delicious and satisfying. The passion fruit Gelato was amazing. Everything was quick and orderly. I really, really enjoyed the soundtrack, which was anything but Italian or Khmer. Pricey food in comparison to other restaurants on the beach. However sometimes their food lives up to the price and exceeds it. Hit or miss concerning their food. You either have a good experience eating their food or you get something that tastes old and funky. If you order their pizza nine times out of ten it will be a 7 to 8 star pie on a scale of 1 to ten. Orange house makes better pizza by a mile. Alas, I ordered their spinach and ricotta ravioli, it tasted as if it had freezer burn. I ordered the Aldente tagliatelle with zucchini and shrimp cream sauce and then I died and went to heaven, it was that earth shattering good, but I was naturally scared to order it again because of their hit and miss factor. However I took a gamble and thus ordered it again and it just wasn't as good, their kitchen is inconsistent. It might have been a fluke but I noticed this tendency over the years. The business is set on a double wide beach front property at the very end of otres one bordering long beach. The property is well groomed, with a number of nice shanty bungalows. Beware, some rare breakins have occurred over the years according to staff. I had my expensive phone pinched there last year. Lock your stuff up with conscientiousness, because theft is normal in Cambodia. The staff is very faithful here I recognize they've been here long term, this speaks to the personal quality of the italian owners Mickey and Martina. I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend this place as worthy of late night pizza every time you have the munchies. Manga manga. However if you're not a night owl, before 9pm you can get a more scrumptious pizza at orange house in otres city. Spend a full day here and explore the curious menu. I gave this place 2 stars due to their inconsistent food, but when their food is consistent they really deserve at least 4 stars. Have I mentioned they sometimes have fabulous wine? Be sure to check out their drink menu. Yummy pizza! Large wine selection. Nothing like eating with the sound of waves behind you. Got pretty crowded around 7. Their pasta is out of this world, the pizza is phenomenal! The drinks are delicious! Everything is reasonably priced. The Corner Bar. The Corner Bar, a popular beachside establishment on Ochheuteal, is known for its vibrant atmosphere and generous drinks. With an array of affordable cocktail specials like the Sihanoukville Sling, this bar offers a wallet-friendly drinking experience. Patrons enjoy the convenience of great location while observing seasoned expatriates navigating their surroundings. The entertainment at Victory Hill is alive and well, just visit the Corner Bar and see why. Good quality food, they serve both local and western dishes. All food came with generous helpings of meat. In the evening there is entertainment downstairs and upstairs. Drinks are reasonably priced and staff are friendly. It was ok. Middle of the day, it was good for a break. Great place for a cold beer and average food but affordable. Nice place for dinner. Good food, expats and staff with local knowledge, worth a visit or a beer and game of pool. It came medium just like ordered - great, soft as well but not a single indicator that it has been fried. So no aroma from roasting, wich it would have made just perfect. Went on tues. They do have a good chicken cheese burger. Sorry to say the fries were not chrispy. And they have mustard. The woman and her daughter were very nice. And the location is great for watching all the really old expats fumble around. I asked what the biggest thing they had was and they said the lasagna. Ok no problem, but then i got a ml tub half full and a small side salad. I complained and they made me feel like the bad guy. Never again, I was very clear, bring me the biggest food you had. The food is OK, the drinks are a bit more spicy. Be aware that they will spike your drink with Fentanyl on instruction from the Tuktuk-mafia if you should happen to have unsettled business with those guys. Not an unusual phenomenen in Cambofdia. I found myself gasping for air for hours after a beer at this place. Best-of categories in Sihanoukville. See all. Browse categories. Place category Restaurants, museums, etc. Cheap eats.
