Sierra Measelle, the woman behind the racist tirade against a Filipino American in Oregon, is apologizing for the “ignorant, hateful comments” she made last week.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Measelle claimed that her emotions got the best of her and led to a reaction that “ goes completely against my beliefs and morals.”
Selina Cairel filmed Measelle’s vile comments, which she said has disrespected herself, her family and her “whole entire race” within seconds.
Speaking to KOIN TV , Measelle’s mother said that her daughter is “sorry” and “realizes she made a mistake.”
She added that Measelle is of Native American descent from a tribe in Alaska.
“I’d like to again offer my sincere apology to Ms. Cairel and I am sorry for the ignorant, hateful comments I made to her and her friend,” Measelle wrote in her apology. “I’m ashamed that I let my emotions get the best of me and I reacted in such a hurtful manner that goes completely against my beliefs and morals. I’m extremely disappointed in myself and my lack of empathy.”
The incident occurred on the evening of Sept. 11 in a parking lot in Portland.
Cairel, who had just returned from buying doughnuts, was shocked when Measelle started to make fun of her eyes in a mock Asian accent.
“ She’s Asian, she can’t see that’s why she can’t drive,” Cairel quoted Measelle as saying.
Measelle then flipped out her phone to record Cairel “for Instagram” and challenged her legal status.
“Before you say anything you might wanna make sure you’re actually legal,” Measelle said. “Imma call the cops to let them know.”
She went on to claim that Cairel and her family are “illegals crossing the border” and that her parents “probably had to work for f**king dirt just to get here.”
Cairel’s post has since received at least 2.5 million views and thousands of comments, with many slamming Measelle’s behavior. Some went as far as harassing her employers.
“That’s terrible. That’s something I really really didn’t want to happen, especially to her,” Cairel told KVAL 13 . “I apologize for people threatening your life and families and everything. I hope she’s okay.”
Measelle, who has 19,000 followers on Instagram , hopes that people will learn from her mistakes.
The Beaverton resident continued her apology:
“I plan to transform this negative situation into a positive learning opportunity and I hope that people who casually and carelessly use racist language will learn from my mistakes, as I have learned that these words and actions cause others much pain. I also want to say I’m sorry to all the people affected by my comments and especially my friends, family and place of employment for the harassment they’ve received over this.
“This incident has definitely allowed me to see how my behavior contributes to racism and how I can and need to do better going forward.”

A woman named Sierra Dawn Measelle wanted to go viral, and Selina Cairel made sure her wish came true.
Cairel recently had a racist and bizarre encounter with Measelle, a stripper with a criminal past, while in the parking lot of a doughnut shop in Portland, Oregon.
Cairel, who is an Asian-American woman, shared a brief video where Measelle can be seen sitting in her car.
The sex worker turned to her friend and said the following while using a fake accent: “She’s Asian, she can’t see, and that’s why she can’t drive.”
Measelle, who appeared drunk, went on an epic, ignorant, and xenophobic rant about the Asian woman.
She said: “Before you say anything you should make sure you’re actually legal. And then you can call the cops and let them know.”
Cairel asked: “About what?” Measelle gave the following nonsensical answer: “That you’re illegals crossing the border and your parents probably had to work for fuckin’ dirt just to get here.”
Please note that it is not possible to drive nor walk from Asia to the United States. On a Facebook page, Cairel said she was leaving the Voodoo Doughnut shop when the incident occurred.
Cairel also revealed the woman took her phone out and started filming her and said “this should go on Instagram,” and she also decided to record the exchange.
Cairel explained that she tried in vain to talk some sense into the woman.
She wrote: “I normally don’t share anything on here, but I’m distraught. I had a terrible encounter with a girl who was saying the nastiest most racist thing possible.”
She went on to say: “After I had wasted my breath trying to knock some sense into her I just let her speak. It all started when she had said in the most demeaning poor excuse of a supposed ‘Asian’ accent that she’s Asian, she ‘can’t see that’s why (she) can’t drive.’”
Cairel added: “She was actually the one to pull out her phone first saying, ‘This should go on Instagram’ and started recording me. I just got back to my car after getting some Voodoo donuts and just wanted to go home. I never let this pass, and I want to make sure this kind of behavior is seen and how many people of color encounter this all the time. I want to make sure she gets seen, and her racist, ignorant behavior are exposed.”
In a statement, Measelle’s mother confessed that her daughter is “sorry” and had “made a mistake.”
It is being claimed that she was forced to leave her home because of the backlash.
Over 2 million people have watched the racist clip, and many are defending Portland by saying that it is a pleasant place to live and not all the residents share Measelle’s views.
Several strippers have also come forward to say Measelle is giving them a bad reputation.
