Fibres that are water-resistant, windproof and breathable have taken over the sport industry. So it becomes even more important how you wash your outdoor clothing. The outdoor/impregnation cycle protects high-quality functional clothing during washing. Through a wash-in agent, the right temperature, and special drum movements, the cycle refreshes the water-repellent function of your textiles. When you wash and waterproof clothing with this cycle, full breathability is retained.
The modern microfibres, breathable and waterproof membranes and sensitive seams of your outdoor clothing require special care. The outdoor cycle protects functional clothing during washing. Sailing jackets, jogging tops and snowboard pants retain their breathability.
Functional clothing also needs special care when drying. Taped seams are particularly at risk from high temperatures. So our outdoor drying cycle dries at a consistently low temperature.

With your Siemens washing machine's sport cycle you can wash and waterproof your outdoor and functional clothing safely and easily. Just follow these four steps to protect your garments from wind and weather.
Outdoor activities demand a lot of material, like breathability, toughness, windproofing and waterproofing. To make sure your quality outdoor clothing serves you faithfully for a long time, it is important to waterproof it and renew the waterproofing as soon as water no longer beads off the surface.
So that outdoor clothing with GORE-TEX® protects like a second skin, between the top material (1) and interior lining (2) there is a membrane layer (3), which has more than 1.5 billion small pores/cm². These pores are approximately 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, yet 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This membrane and its welded seams make functional clothing absolutely waterproof from the outside, yet breathable from the inside.
Synthetic materials absorb less water and therefore less dirt into the weave of the fabric than natural fibres. This makes them very easy to care for. However you should avoid washing them at temperatures above 40°C and at a high spin setting, otherwise this could misshape the fabric. The ideal cycle for synthetics: the Siemens super15 programme – for those who want clean laundry fast.
Modern microfibres are essentially cared for in the same way as all synthetic materials. However you must avoid using fabric softener because this causes the fine gaps between the fibres to close up, meaning that the weave can no longer absorb any moisture.
Warm, soft and water-repellant – fleece is a real all-rounder even during the coldest season of the year. And it is also very easy to care for. You can wash your fleece garments easily in the washing machine at 30 to 40°C — in just 15 minutes using the Siemens super15 programme for lightly soiled items. A low spin setting is enough to help retain the extremely soft surface structure of the fleece material.
Unlike other functional textiles, it is recommended that you use a little fabric softener every fifth time you wash fleece garments. This restores the material's softness.
