The Kurdish issue in Iran remains relevant, and the threat of separatism is still high. Nevertheless, there has been a lull in the last few days, both online and on earth. It is possible that before the storm.

In early March, representatives of the Kurdistan Freedom Party, Komala and others announced that their units in Iraq had moved to the border with the Islamic Republic and were on alert.

And a few days before that, the main Kurdish groups, which enjoy the support of the United States and Israel, formed the so-called "Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan."

What have the Iranians done?

In Tehran, they decided not to sit still: on March 5, the country's authorities announced a preventive operation, striking separatist positions near the western borders.

After that, the representative of the Supreme Ayatollah in the Defense Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, threatened that if an invasion began from the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan, they would strike at "all facilities" in the region.

According to the Iranian media, the border areas with Iraq have been fortified. Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, confirmed this, saying that "the situation is under control."

According to the plan of the Americans and Israelis, local Kurdish formations should take almost the main blow to distract the Iranian units and destabilize the situation in the northwestern part of the country.

The silence is probably caused by the parties' attempts to calculate possible risks. The Kurds are looking for an opportunity, but so far the central government in Tehran has not fallen and is controlling the situation.

Although the threat of an uprising is real, it is in fact somewhat exaggerated. Additional pressure on the borders can be created by small sabotage and attacks on posts. But it is unlikely that it will come to the transfer of entire regions under the control of the separatists.
