She-Hulk's transformation is pretty unique. Here's what you need to know about it.
Marvel has a plethora of characters for fans to love and research. So it's really no surprise to hear that there are hidden details about any given character. This time around, we want to take some time talking about the Green Giantess herself, She-Hulk .
This conversation is especially relevant, given her impending Disney+ series. She-Hulk is both similar and different to her cousin, Bruce Banner. And thus there are several facts that fans need to know about the character. This goes doubly so for her Hulk version – which is unique even among the many Hulks of the series.
With all of that in mind, here are ten things you didn't know about She-Hulk’s transformation.
You all know that trope around the Hulk: when Banner turns into the Hulk, he basically (literally) becomes a completely different person. That isn't the case for She-Hulk. At least, it was not the case until very recently.
Jennifer was always still Jennifer, even when she was completely green. That makes her unique among the various versions of Hulk out in the world. In a way, it's her claim to fame.
While Jennifer is actually quite different from her cousin, Bruce Banner, there are some things she has in common with him. The biggest detail (other than the fact that they both Hulk out) is her strength. We all know that the angrier the Hulk gets, the stronger he becomes.
That is also true for She-Hulk. To our knowledge, there's no limit on hers or Bruce's ability to become angry or strong. And that's a terrifying thought. So maybe do your best to stay out of their way, or at least don't make them mad.
You probably have noticed that She-Hulk isn't as big as her cousin, the Hulk. Actually, she's one of the smaller Hulks out there, even when she's in her largest forms (see more on that down the list). That's because She-Hulk’s body is actually extremely efficient.
Her bones and muscles condense during her transformation, resulting in a very strong being that doesn't actually look half as strong as she is. This allows her to be underestimated in a fight – a fact that she has used to her advantage on more than one occasion.
There's something else that makes She-Hulk unique. The manner in which she transforms is vastly different from the Hulk. Where Banner has to get angry in order to shift into the Hulk, Jennifer can do so at will. It's connected with her ability to maintain her own personality. But it's also extremely useful, as she isn't reliant on her emotional state in order to fight. Or to change back, for that matter. We're betting Bruce wishes he had a bit more of a say in when he could shift back and forth from the Hulk.
This one will probably come as no surprise: but She-Hulk has a highly advanced and robust healing factor. It's not as strong as Deadpool or Wolverine's (there's no doubt that she could be killed if the circumstances were right – or wrong depending on how you look at it). But it's still significant. Not to mention useful.
Being a Hulk automatically gives her a decent resistance to injuries in the first place. And what injuries she does take she can heal from at a fairly rapid pace.
As with her cousin, She-Hulk is a very difficult to stop character. And part of that is because she can just keep on going. She has superhuman stamina, when in her Hulk form. And that means she's not going to get tired like a normal human, and she's not going to get knocked down and stay down. Not without a significant amount of damage, at any rate.
That means that, theoretically, She-Hulk could fight for hours if needed. You can imagine how useful this was during, say the War of the Realms . That was a war that pushed all Marvel heroes to the test, and the fighters who could keep going ended up making some of the biggest dents.
All versions of the Hulk, She-Hulk included are extremely strong, powerful, and dangerous. Yet you rarely seem them doing anything that requires fine motor control. Well, except for the She-Hulk. Because she can, in fact, maintain all fine motor control while in She-Hulk form.
For example, we've seen She-Hulk pilot a ship while in her Hulked out form. And we're betting that flying a ship isn't as easy as the comics make it look. So consider us impressed! You go She-Hulk!
One of She-Hulk’s biggest advantages is not her strength, as hard as that may be to believe. When Jennifer is in her green format, she's safe from a completely different type of attack. Telepaths cannot invade her mind.
Considering how many powerful telepaths roam the Marvel universe, this is actually both an impressive and extremely useful talent to have. And it's one that has saved her on more than one occasion.
She-Hulk is a character who has gone through several changes throughout her history. And one of those biggest changes affected her Hulk form directly. Following the events of Civil War II , in which Bruce Banner was killed and she was put into a coma, Jennifer Walters was not in a good place, mentally speaking.
That mental state was shown in her Hulk form. Whenever she transformed she'd end up in a gray version of the She-Hulk, instead of that lovely jade color we're all so used to seeing her in. This version of She-Hulk didn't just look different; she acted differently as well. She wasn't as intelligent, though she was also stronger and a bit bigger. So, in a way she was one step closer to becoming more like her deceased cousin.
For those that are wondering, these changes didn't end up sticking in the long run, as Jennifer did eventually work her issues out.
Recently, She-Hulk has faced yet another change in her Hulk form. She may be green again, but she's not quite the Jennifer/She-Hulk we're used to seeing. This version of She-Hulk has absorbed a whole lot of Gamma radiation. Far more than her usual dose.
What does that mean? Well, for starters she's once again bigger and stronger, much like her Grey She-Hulk version. She's also not quite as intelligent, as is to be expected with these changes. We've seen Jennifer's thoughts run alongside her actions, but they don't quite seem to connect to her mouth. This leaves us to believe that a She-Hulk personality has formed/become stronger.
