I distinctly remember degreeing in a cam on one of these for the first time in my little tiny garage in Philly, and it was off 4 degrees after having cut the head 0.040". I probably just took it as gospel, without knowing where the head deck had been before I started, or if the belt was bagged out, or whatever.

Have you confirmed your engine can handle .030 off the head and avoid possible valve to piston interference ? Has the cyl head ever been re surfaced before also. I had people want cyl heads or blocks to have a certain amount taken off but after checking the factory thickness ( when possible ) many already had inconsistent amounts off them.
The mechanic, Sundar of Palmyra, told me that if there is corrosion of the head that it might need shaving!!! Will this be wise or to get a head!!! If I do shave the head, what kind of response will I get from the engine? In terms of how the engine sounds. And this timing thing, what kind of problems would that have??

Has anyone Shaved their head and/or installed a larger base gasket? What were your results and reasons for doing so? Did you take before and after compression tests? Any rules of thumb as to how much is too much or why it would not be wise? Any reliability issues if compression remained at stock specs? Engine builders, Please comment on the theoretical aspects of this also.
I shaved my head once, but I don't look good when bold. Seriously, IDK how much you could shave from 3V heads... with that money, there might be better ways fot that extra N/A HP.
