California earthquakes and documented shark incidents on one map.

This is not early warning

SharkQuakifornia is situational awareness. It does not provide seconds of warning before shaking. For official alerts use Wireless Emergency Alerts and the free MyShake app.

Common questions

Alerts didn’t fire. Banners and tones run while the app is open. Allow notifications in iOS Settings → SharkQuakifornia. Test tones in the in-app Settings tab.

Map search. Type a California place (Pismo Beach, San Diego) and choose it — the camera flies there. It does not filter the USGS list.

Grey station squares. Offline. Tap an online (black) square for that station’s seismogram. Offline stations do not show a trace.

Shark triangles. Red = fatal incident, blue = non-fatal, from public CDFW / GSAF records. Clusters expand as you zoom. Sightings are not included.

Home pin. Defaults to Santa Paula, California. Use “Use my current location” or type coordinates in Settings.
