Something went wrong. Wait a moment and try again.
I cannot even watch it! Hollywood and the media have sunk American morality and ethos to new depths.
The media, Hollywood, glamorizes brainless sex, drug use, dishonesty, cheating, the gun culture, murdering, graphic violence, frontier ‘justice’, stealing, mayhem, aimlessness. They pander to our lowest instincts.
The media trashes big business, mocks the police, destroyed the family unit, elevates partying as some sort of a ‘goal’. The ‘National Lampoons Animal House’ has been a hit for several decades, even as its principles killed Belushi who died of a drug overdose!

While preaching against ‘capitalists ‘ the media and Hollywood glamorize the life style of drug lords and mafia types. Who can forget that other smash hit for decades, ‘The Godfather’.
The young people watch this sewage over and over until they memorize the lines mouthed by glamorous types who make the Weinstein mentality irresistible.
The result we see is the longing for an easy ride through life entitled by the government, and the bullying and immaturity of the entitled evidenced online.
There is really nothing sick or disturbing about Shameless its exactly the way poor people on the south side live. At the same time do you not see the love and loyalty of family!? One has to experience this life to understand it. Tthey all survive and do the best they can. To the rich and educated yes Shameless is sick and disturbing but to the real people who live their entire lives like this there is still happiness love and loyalty. `Shameless is their normal get over yourselves and learn something because the rich as also portrayed in Shameless are they really better off? If you think so y

The earlier seasons of Shameless with Jimmy/Steve and the Milkovich family were so interesting. The setting and characters were really unique. I feel like this new season has lost the vibe that Shameless used to have.
Said it before and I'll say it again, Micky for Trevor was the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals. Not only is Trevor boring as shit alone, Ian's getting dragged down too. Ford is pretty boring. Fiona (Without Ford), Lip, and Kevin are the saving graces to the show for me right now. V isn't really being given a good arc right now. Debbie is entertaining as much as she's imprinted being annoying as hell. Frank is just good right now, he isn't at peak Frank but regardless, enteraining. Hoping that Liam can swoop in with some juicy shit but i think thats 2-3 years away if the show goes on that long, doubt it though.
I still find it interesting. However, I will agree that it has lost that certain something it had in the earlier seasons. And the randomly dropped or abruptly stopped plot-lines kind of irk me. But I'll keep watching.
Really? Where were these comments for Seasons 5,6, or 7? Shameless was flawless Season 1-4, it really lost its way in 5 and 6 because they made Fiona dependent on a male relationship. Season 7 at least got back to Fiona fucking the system and being succesful on her own, Season 7 and 8 have been redeeming in my opinion. But they are still trying to trap and boil Fiona down to simplicity in the sake of "finding love" or completing herself. When her strength has had nothing to do with being in a relationship. The writers can't let her close her legs to give her a break.
I know right? Ever since Jimmy, Monica and the Jackson and Milkovich family got written off, the show kinda became less interesting. And the only thing that made season 7 great again was because of Monica's and Mickey's return. Now that they can't drag in Monica and Mickey, I don't know they'll do to bring out that spark again.
Agreed. I even stuck it out through season 7 and tried watching the season 8 opening episode online. Things get so convoluted and inconsistent with characters. Honestly, I don't think they could top that cocaine baby-OD plotline in season 4(? Correct me if I'm wrong about the timeline). That's about as shameless as it gets.
I felt the same way about season 4 of Breaking Bad (spoilers incoming) when Walt poisons a child. When a character "breaks bad" or is "shameless" or otherwise lives up to the namesake of a show, why tack on any unnecessary substance? The plot development and character arc has been fully realized.
Walter White becomes a true drug lord in that exact moment. Fiona becomes pretty goddamn insufferable after the cocaine incident. Does it really matter what happens after these landmark events in the overall plotline(s)? Why not keep it short and sweet, and also up to the viewers' imagination?
Heisenberg had a shelf life. He was going to get discovered, and Walter White was going to die. Stretching it out would've only been unnecessarily delaying the inevitable ending.
The great thing about Shamless is that it could theoretically keep going for the next 50 years, just following the life of the Gallagher kids. It's not a show with a set end like Breaking Bad or Prison Break, it's about life, and life keeps going. It does matter what happens after Liam OD's, because life didn't stop there and the show isn't just about showing how Shameless a person can be. Fiona's ability to pick herself up and start improving her situation after the Liam incident has been great to watch, as has Lip's struggles with alcohol and current recovery, Carl's life as a gangster turned soldier turned husband, and Ian's work as a paramedic and time as a fugitive with Mickey.
Season 8 has sucked but 7 was probably my favorite. Ian's and Debbie's stories suck and Frank is underutilized now but there's still a lot worth watching and I have faith they can turn it around.
Seasons 5-7 are still great more often than not
Season 8 is just kinda there. Outside of the episode where they got the meth from Monica there isn’t really any of the heart, drama, and great comedy that made Shameless what it once was.
Sort of inevitable once you get rid of so many characters and don’t bother trying to give the new characters any of the same amount of development or focus that you gave the characters you got rid of, and they end up being boring side characters with boring sub plots who you really couldn’t care less about.
I hope Shameless ends with Season 9. There’s not even really any character arcs left, the show was always (imo) about how this family in poverty and living amongst shitty circumstances is trying to make something of themselves and not repeat the mistakes of their parents. Most of the characters, if not all of them, are pretty much there. Wrap it up and end it before the show is remembered more for its shit seasons than it’s good ones.
A different vibe is not a bad thing. What would really be "boring" would be the same stories and the same secondary characters for 8 years.
See I disagrees. I thought least season kinda really sucked. It was the first season Fiona was directing. I think she has really come into her own.
This season, for me, some how has added a beautiful philosophical element to it- the episode with Fiona and Ian, when she comes to visit him at work and they talk in the Ambo. That was beautiful, best I have seen in a while; Capitalism vs. socialism- fucking rocked.
Of course a show is going to get stale, this show in particular is in its 8 season... like what... this isn’t a show about nothing (Seinfeld, friends, Big Bang) this is a show over time with a family.
The show, shows as much development has the characters. I think it’s amazing season 8 is almost as entertaining as the earlier seasons.
Shows how well developed the show is
Ian's arc is the worst part of the show right now.
That church scene was straight up r/cringeanarchy combined with r/Iamverysmart and r/athiesm .
Because the children have grown up now. Interesting children and boring adults.
or they can discuss it as they please. and you can not click the thread.
last episode had some bright spots. the first bright spots all season. but yeah, its very boring.
I think it’s fine. I like that they are integrating new characters. For me, it would get boring watching the same side characters every season. I like that all the main characters are all very complex. They are destined for a certain path with a destination and then when they get there, the writers do good job of changing it up and making the Character still relevant.
For Example: Lip in the early seasons was all about whether or not he could escape the hood and make something of himself or get pulled back in with the white trash and hood rats. That arc kind of culminated in S4. Then they changed it up and gave him a new journey on whether or not he will end up like his dad.
Ian wether or not he would go to the Army. That happened in S4 as well then they changed it up into him turning into his mom with bipolar.
Fiona early on was about when she would finally break after all the stuff she gets put through. That happened in season 4 now she’s a business woman.
You could tell when Carl was little he’d eventually end up in jail now he’s out and has a new arc.
Frank early on was all about doing dangerous things like doing drugs, alcohol and leading to his eventual death. That culminated in Season 4. His is the only one that didn’t change after that.
The storytelling ability is still there in other words, some seasons will be slower because that’s not what this shows about. It’s supposed to be the characters and your love for them that drives you into watching every new episode. The development in characters in this show is top notch. At this point they are trying to make good decisions and the show is more than likely ending soon I bet it only goes 2 more seasons. So it might end happily or it could get rough, we’ll have to see I guess.
Shameless was always a boring and stupid show with no point or story, I only watched the first episode before I was like, "Yeah this show sucks" Never touched it again after that, and a lot of other people with more than 2 braincells can attest to that fact, dumb show, no point, and just a waste of time, I wouldn't bother watching this stupid show, It's a money slide for Netflix . Only people with 1 braincell watch that .
I have to say there’s some moments during watching this whole show, that I had to take breaks because I felt like nothing interesting was happening. Or it was about to happen but I took my break. And honestly I feel like what’s the point or the plot. Even though each season that like a plot. But I feel like what is the end goal?
Definitely. I find myself tuning out of the show unless Lip, Debbie or Frank/Liam is on the screen. Fiona is her same 'ol self and it's just boring this time around, no thanks to Ford. I've hated her since Season 4. Carl's storyline is meh, but it just becomes repetitive. Ian is just godawful lol, I don't even know how to feel about this storyline.
What do you find compelling about Debbie's storyline? I think that's the first time I've heard anyone say they like her on this sub.

Can't help you, this season hasn't held my attention at all. Didn't even watch yesterday.
This is going to be an unpopular opinion but Debbie has grown on me since she has apparently abandoned replacing Fiona. That role didn't suit her but it made sense that she would at least try at first.
Not sure where the story is going but it doesn't seem to be as much fun and that isn't just this season. Also, Lip was better crazy in love with someone and striving to make something of himself.
Not being seasons 7-9 is an automatic perk
I've heard that did not even star it. Just read this is the last season.

For those of us that have endured 8 long seasons of Frank’s shenanigans, an endless sea of Gallagher children that just don’t seem to stop popping out, and one too many of Fiona’s “boyfriends,” here’s a list of all the characters that we know and may or may not love, ranked from best to worst.

**** ALERT: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD ****
“ I am whatever I need to be at the time I need to be it. ” – Frank, Season 3
Frank Freaking Gallagher. He is one of those characters that you completely despise at first, because you can’t understand why he HAS to scheme his way out of literally EVERYTHING , all the while reciting some long monologue about what a “hardworking American” he is.
As the seasons go on, you realize that being a total scumbag and screwing over anyone and everyone that he can (including his children) is actually part of his charm. Shoutout to you Daddy Frank. We love you, we hate you, and we love to hate you.
“ I just need someone to say, 'F*** it. This kid deserves a chance. '” – Lip, Season 5
Lip Gallagher could completely ruin my entire life (* cough cough *: Mandy Milkovich) and I would personally thank him. Looks aside, the only thing more attractive than Lip’s physical appearance is his brain.
The combination between his rugged, street-kid exterior, yet low-key GENIUS interior makes him truly irresistible. He’s constantly found to be the family’s much-needed voice of reason when Fiona is absent and seems to be perhaps the only Gallagher child who’s completely immune to the schemes of his conniving parents.
Yet, although one of the most attractive and intelligent, he is also one of THE MOST frustrating characters on the show, managing to somehow continually screw-up all the many, many chances he’s met with. Still, we always find ourselves rooting for Lip because, well, he’s Lip.
“ I already had my first woody in history class, talking about how Marie Antoinette's head got chopped off. ” – Carl, Season 2
Probably one of the most developed characters on the show, Carl’s presence on my screen never ceases to make me laugh.
Whether he’s potential serial-killer Carl who likes to microwave Barbies, corn-row Carl on the corner, or Cadet Corporal Carl, he is one of the most diverse and enjoyable characters on the show, and he hustles like absolutely no one else.
The only category Carl could perhaps improve in is his choice of lovers (a.k.a. please dump Kassidy). But it’s okay, we still love you.
“ Circle doesn’t start with an ‘S’? What the f*** !? ” – Kevin, Season 2
Do I even need to explain? Kevin is the most kind-hearted, loveable and truly genuine character on the show. His love for Veronica and the twins, and unwavering loyalty to his closest friends is truly admirable and his cluelessness about life will warm your heart.
Girls love him because he’s a giant teddy bear and guys envy him for his off-the-chain sex life with Veronica. Honestly, everyone deserves to have a Kev in their life (or at least a Bart from Kentucky).
“ Oh, don’t mind me. I accidentally took three of my pills instead of one. ” – Sheila, Season 1
Sheila is a national treasure. A true saint. When you first meet her, you’re just like “who’s this crazy lady with the dildo fetish that won’t leave her house?” But as the show goes on, you get to see how much she truly cares about the people in her life, and how she always goes out of her way to help absolutely anyone.
You start to sympathize with her, particularly with her agoraphobia and eventually find yourself completely invested in her pursuit to finally leave her house, cheering her on with every (literal) step she takes. I don’t know where you are right now Sheila, but I hope you are living your best life.
“ Too much is wrong with me. That’s the problem, isn’t it? Too much is wrong with me, and you can’t do anything about that. You can’t change it. You can’t fix me, ‘cause I’m not broken, I don’t need to be fixed, okay? I’m me! ” – Ian, Season 5
Another character that we constantly find ourselves sympathizing with. His journey is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, having to constantly overcome emotional and psychological obstacles that no other character deals with.
Despite his occasional mess-ups, you always find yourself rooting for Ian to succeed, whether it’s through his an
