Being a fan of Mirren and Gooding I would of course like this movie. It is not the best work for either of them, but it is still a very enjoyable film. It isn't strictly a drama or an action flick, sort of a cross between the two, with drama being slightly ahead. I am not good at synopsis, especially spoiler free synopsis, so I am not going to even try, plus there are reviews here that give an excellent synopsis of the movie. I am not sure of Mirren's age in this, I would guess near 60, possibly even older and yet she still projects an unbelievable amount of sex appeal. Even more so than the much younger and one would suppose much sexier Vanessa Ferlito. Gooding does an excellent job as the conflicted, emotionally stunted man who loves and depends on Mirren. The rest of the cast give excellent performances, and Joseph Gordon-Levett and Mo'nique are not only a hoot of a couple they also make you believe that they are passionately involved. I would recommend it to fans of the actors and to fans of crime and revenge movies.

Director Lee Daniels (the creative mind behind the more widely-known films Monsters' Ball and Precious) throws a lot at the viewer with this very emotional and highly engaging film. The plot focuses on a couple of professional assassins (played by Cuba Gooding Jr. and Helen Mirren) and the world of crime in which they operate. The duo accepts the task of killing a crime boss' wife, only to discover that the intended mark is pregnant. This revelation is only the first in a series of unexpected twists and discoveries leading to a graphically violent climax. Movie villian Stephen Dorff gives a brutal turn as the boss who hires the duo. This film is hard to describe because it's not just a crime story. The storytelling is fresh and engaging. There is as much sensuality as their is violence in the film. If you are a fan of offbeat artsy crime adventures like The Limey, Formula 51 or Pulp Fiction, this film will definitely find a place in your heart. It is well-worth seeing just for the eclectic cast alone which also includes Vanessa Ferlito, Macy Gray and Mo'Nique.

I can't believe how much I still love this movie. Saw it when it first came out then purchased it then lost the DVD then purchased on amazon again just now so I can watch it again for like the 20th time. The characters and story line are great. The acting is great. And the film overall was seriously intense. Mucho kudos to the writers and cast. Especially Cuba Gooding Jr! And I swear I would lose my mind if they came out with a part 2 (with Cuba Gooding still in it of course) LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Truly one of my favorite films.
