The Phat Cat is a real P-90 inside a humbucker and lives up to its name with a fat P-90 tone with lots of sustain and a great mix of brightness, smoothness and the spank of a single-coil. The Phat Cat is available in gold or nickel and in bridge and neck versions and you can even get hum-canceling in the in-between positions.
Check out these videos to see it used in a variety of guitars.

What guitar might you put a Phat Cat in?
The Phat Cat is NOT a p90 and it’s not inside a humbucker, that description is misleading.
True, it is not inside a humbucker. I think you could say that it is inside a humbucker footprint, or in a humbucker compatible case. As far as the electronics inside, presumably they are close to the P90 design; the idea being that people like me with humbucker slots can enjoy P90 soapbar sound. If you’ve had opportunity to try it next to a real P90, please let us know how close it is to the sound of a real one. I got the Phat Cat for the neck pickup. As for my opinion of the pickup, I think it is phenomenal. Clear, bright, smooth, and wailing tones can be had. There is not a lot of extraneous noise as compared to a humbucker. The output is much higher than my bridge pickup. I have it set much lower. I never thought I’d like a single coil so much. I may buy another for the bridge position.

A set of Phat Cats offers true P-90 growl and bite in any humbucker equipped guitar without modifications. Want the focused mid bite and unique attack of a P-90, but have an instrument routed for humbuckers? You need a Phat Cat Set. The bridge is wound to give you chords with lots of bright harmonics, and solos that have sharp single coil cut

These things changed everything... Great tones, good old blues/rock with some dirt on there! If that sounds familiar, what you like, etc. you won't be disappointed.

I have a semi-hollow Gibson Les Paul with a flat maple top and single F hole. Beautiful guitar and plays really well, but I never liked the sound from the factory humbuckers. I have many guitars, including a Gibson SG with P90s and was always playing it at band practices because it sounded so good. Better than all my humbucker guitars. I figured someone must make a P90 that fits a humbucker slot and found the Phat Cat set. I had a luthier install them and they sound great! Totally improved the sound of the guitar and now I play the Les Paul at practice. I liked them so much I just had another pair installed in my Epiphone Dot and again, the guitar sounds so much better! Totally recommend these if you want the P90 sound from a guitar made for humbuckers, and/ or if you want to improve the sound of a less expensive guitar like the Epiphone Dot.

Typically good SD quality pickups, but Amazon chooses to ship this in a plastic bag with no padding so the plastic "jewel case" was busted up. Pickups still work but pretty sloppy on Amazon to ship that way.

My Gibson SG Standard has come back to life! After playing in a harder rock outfit, I wanted my SG for more old school Pete Townshend stuff. Even after buying a remade Sound City Amp it just wasn't doing it for me. What was missing? The P90s of course! I couldn't part with my SG Standard (which IMHO are much better guitars than the SG Specials), so I opted to get the Phat Cats. Had my local luthier install them and WOW! CRAAAANNG! That was the sound I was looking for. Someday I'll have to plug this into a real 100w HIWATT just for fun, but even out of my 20 watt SC they sound great. Way to go Seymour Duncan!

These pickups turned a guitar I was going to sell, primarily because I couldn't find that P90 sound I get from my actual P90 guitars. These sound better than any of those guitars now! If you like that Social D sound, it is in reach with these. My rig is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Joyo Ultimate Drive. I installed these in a D'angelico SD. Feedback and hum is there, but we'll handed with the use of a noise gate. Seriously though, it's not needed. Have no fear, buy them.....do it... NOW!

Awesome pickups! Buy them!

I installed these in my 2015 Gibson Les Paul Studio and they are just amazing. It took a little soldering work and some Gibson Quick Connect adaptors, because my guitar has a circuit board, but it all worked out and I’m in love with the sound. They came with black frames and fit perfectly into the humbucker slots on the guitar.

A guitar I hardly touched is now my favorite.

If you want p-90 sound in your Les Paul these will do that. No routing needed changing from humbuckers to these. Just assemble the pickup frame and run the wires to the solder point and add the wood mounting screws, solder connections. Now, Play really loud, and really clean. Plus these pickups loves the tube screamer peddle. No more muddy tones from my factory pick ups. As a friend said, “Clean as a piano, or testicular if needed.”

They are worth the money and easy to install. Seymore his self has YouTube videos on how to do this.

Originally developed in the Custom Shop for Hamer Guitars, the Phat Cat is a true single-coil P-90 Soap bar that fits under a humbucker cover and drops into humbucker-equipped guitars. You get all of the authentic neck position bounce and sparkle that you'd expect from a vintage Gibson P90 Soap bar. Chords have lots of rich harmonics, and solos have that unique single coil springiness. It uses two Alnico 2 bar magnets for more sustain and softer attack. And, the metal covers provide more shielding and noise reduction than standard soap bar covers. The neck model is RW/RP, reverse wind reverse polarity, from the bridge pickup to provide noiseless operation when used together.

I installed this pickup in an Epiphone Zephyr Regent Re-Issue. Essentially it's like a Gibson ES175 but with only one pickup. I wanted the P90 vibe from this guitar, and this pickup provides it. I won't try to give a verbal description, but if you listen to all the old jazz guitar greats who played the P90 equipped ES175, you know the tone I was chasing. This pickup, with the right amp, really does the job. Highly recommended.

Superb Single-Coil Sound

I replaced the original humbuckers in my Ibanez S470 with Phatcats. The tone and flexibility of the guitar has improved greatly. These pickups seem to have a lot of the bottom end and output of a bucker with the articulation and spankiness of a single coil. Has greatly increased the versatililty and sound of my axe. If you can't decide if you wanna play your Strat or your LP, you can have the best of both worlds in one pickup.

Absolutely love these pickups rich full sounding pickups. So much better than the original humbuckers combined with all new bridge, tail piece, studs, and locking tuners, recrowned frets and polished this guitar is now what it always should have been. Sounds fantastic and plays even better

The Phat Cat was originally designed for Hamer Guitars and has now become a mainstay in Seymour Duncan's line-up. The Phat Cat allows you to get P-90 tone in a humbucker size with no retro-fitting or routing if you're replacing any standard sized humbucker!
