Where to begin!! Worst character development ever- you never even know what they look like/ what time of year it is/ what motivates them/ why they're awful- it just floats in a vacuous bubble of inconsistencies and boring events making it unrelateable and insufferable 99% of the time. Most glaring- I'm sure she mentions she doesn't have a wedding photo (not a single person at her wedding took a photo for some reason????) BUT THEN she flaunts a wedding photo to her lover??? Woman smart enough to be a barrister- is dumb enough to be taken advantage of by not one but two awful, disrespectful men at the same time?? It's difficult to believe, maybe because there's no build up to it, the bad stuff is just happening and it isn't even that bad. Just avoidable for most adult humans. The plot isn't spicy, or interesting, it trudges through themes of domestic abuse and then just abuse abuse, a tiresome murder trial, in the end you spend most of the book wishing something would happen or it would just end. It does not. I basically never write reviews but the low quality of this book has motivated me to warn others, don't do it to yourself!!!!

No spoilers: the "twist" at the end of the book was barely a twist. Anyone with a functioning brain could have figured out what was going on by the multiple heavy handed "clues" throughout the book. Spoiler warning: The main character is an absolute dumpster fire of a human being but she manages to "win" and get her way in a way that feels completely undeserved, and comes out of complete left field without ever having being mentioned previously in the book. If you enjoy a good thriller, stay away from this one.

The book started off with great potential. Reviews sounded wonderful and I couldn't wait to start reading it. However, too much emphasis on sex. I didn't like the main protagonist and gave up reading after 2 chapters.
