The best fighters in anime know that a good defense is necessary for a good offense. The armor they don complements their abilities perfectly.
Armor can come in all shapes and sizes. But that doesn't mean they're all useful. One cannot fight when their armor weighs them down or when it doesn't allow them the freedom to move. With many different styles and subcategories on what armor is supposed to look like and do, the possibilities are endless.
Ideally, armor doesn't have to be shiny or fancy to get the job done. The best type of armor will function around and amplify someone's skillsets. If they're sneaky, it should be silent. If they need to be quick, the armor shouldn't hold them down. The best armor is the most practical in battle.
Artoria Pendragon, known as Saber in Fate/Stay Night , has armor that allows her to fight at a moment's notice. With the ability to materialize it at any moment, she's never without it during the Holy Grail War .
Though fighting in a dress seems like it would cause issues, she maneuvers around while wearing it with ease. Saber's armor isn't the fanciest or shiniest, but Saber has trust in her armor to work with her instead of against her. It allows her to protect those she wants and take risks when needed.
Though it may not always look like it, Ezra's armor in Fairy Tail is one of the most practical armors out there. With each set comes distinctive powers. Depending on the fight and what type of strength or abilities she needs, she has a set for it.
Her armor ranges from heavy and bulky to light and, frankly, barely there to adjust to the battlefield she's in. Though she is a skilled fighter, using Requip allows her to adjust to fighting styles.
Tatsumi's armor in Akame ga Kill! is practical in its ability to adapt and evolve. The demon armor known as Incursio takes the portable form of a sword but becomes a full body armor suit when unleashed.

In My Hero Academia , not many heroes truly wear any form of armor. They have faith that their Quirks and skills will protect them. But Tenya Iida has an impressive set of armor to protect him and enhance his Quirk .
It doesn't limit his movement and helps with wind resistance. With cooling in the boots, he can use his power more. Iida may have a Quirk, but he also understands that practicality is pertinent, so his armor is perfect for his needs.
Armor for the Scout Regiment in Attack on Titan wouldn't do too much. If anything, it would slow them down. But, the newer version of the uniform is the perfect armor for the Scouts to wear.
The sleek design keeps their clothes skintight and out of reach for the titans. The only weight they have is the ultrahard steel. Keeping them balanced on both sides allows for equal weight distribution when flying through the skies.
Like many of the knights in The Seven Deadly Sins , Gilthunder has some interesting armor. In a practical sense, his armor does keep him secure, safe, and doesn't get in the way when he's fighting.
His strength, however, makes up for any areas it doesn't cover. Compared to his fellow Holy Knights , he's a little more covered. But it's just that, armor. There's no fancy power or hard metal making it unique.
In Bubblegum Crisis , the Knight Sabers have impressive Hard Suits they use for fighting the Boomers . The Knight Sabers all wear full-body armor suits. Though Priss, Nene, Linna, and Sylia all have different traits that change how they use the armor, they're all heavily equipped for what suits them best.
With hidden weapons, these suits enhance the fighting abilities of Priss and her fellow Knight Sabers. When it comes to practicality, the suits have almost everything they could need and don't impact their physical movement.
When it comes to practicality, Naotsugu's armor in Log Horizon is as simple as it can get. It's not the best armor out there, nor is it cutting edge. But it gets the job of protecting Naotsugu done.
Minus a helmet, the full-body suit of armor has everything he needs. Naotsugu uses it fully by taking advantage of the security. Naotsugu's bravery in fighting for his fellow comrades is what makes the armor shine.
In Legend of Korra , Lin Beifong's armor is incredible in style and use. The armor is suitable for her fighting style, providing her free range of movement. But the most important part of her armor is its functionality.
Because of the materials that make up the suit, she's able to use the armor to its fullest potential. Using her bending, Lin can physically manipulate the armor and different aspects of it to accomplish what she needs to.
For Kaede Honjou, or Maple, in BOFURI: I Don't Want To Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense , her armor is very helpful and practical. When starting a game with friends, she focuses on defense primarily out of the fear of getting hurt/taking damage.
This improvement in her armor eventually gets to a point where she receives little to no damage from attacks. Though this may slow her down, ultimately, her armor makes her pretty much invincible.
