I've had over 30 crashes this morning in the space of an hour. Always had them but not this often. Its at the point where opening a chest, pausing or bringing up the map causes a crash. I have to fast travel aswell because walking to certain towns (riverwood, dawnstar, morthal, whiterun, falkreath) always cause a crash. On the quest forsworn conspiracy I had to leave markarth and save after every stage of the quest because as I did one part and tried to carry on (i.e talk to someone, enter a building or whatever) the game would crash. I'm on nearly 3000 saves now, just so i don't have to replay hours of gameplay, but pausing often causes a crash. Caves & dungeons are fine but always getting crashes when entering/exiting forts & castles I love skyrim but I'm really starting to go off it with all the crashing. I've decided to give up on Skyrim altogether. Just walking around today and it has crashed more than 5 times, I only get a few seconds into the game. Also a drastic & sudden drop in performance means I just don't want to play anymore, it's getting tiresome reloading a save, just to have it crash a few seconds later

Yup. I am experiencing this random crash so far (probably not same as you), and I know it has NOTHING to do with mods I'm running. I know that dumpreports are giving me TESV.exe is trying to access woman's bathroom and get slapped, but I do not have solution to this. probably I'll try to run it with compatibility mode, but i wonder if it works with win 10.

@IIja, yes i iuse Loot (that list is from NexusModManager), tho I'm not really sure how. I do the sort plugins thing. Do I have to delete the old patches & would it be best to start a new game with the USLEEP patch. My save size is currently 23MB, increasing slightly with gameplay. The thing was at 22MB it was relatively fine. Low end pc but it ran pretty smoothly, now at 23MB it's suddenly stuttery & lagging, this happened very quickly when I travelled to a map location, it was instantly noticeable. Thanks for offering advice, to be honest I'm not sure I understand it all

If you ran LOOT as I described in Load order and resource priorities, then it should be sorted correctly. There were few things that hit me in the eye, but it isn't impossible that LOOT sorted them that way. You should be able to remove old patches and switch to USLEEP directly. Game will complain about missing ESP files in the first run, but that is all. USLEEP merges old patches and is the one still getting updated. SKSE memory tweak will help on few accounts. It will reallocate memory and may help you to avoid crashes. Also, if you use the full tweak, then it will also help to reduce save bloat over time, removing obsolete entries, when you encounter them. I have seen larger save files, but if you notice the growing size of your save file, then it is very likely that you do have a bunch of load entries there. That is a problem that pretty much would require rebuilding your load order and starting a new game. Skyrim bakes script data to save files and there is no way to make them 100% clean from them. Save script cleaning tools would remove active orphaned scripts, but removing potential trouble makers would still leave script data for Papyrus to search. So my advice is that you backup your save, move to USLEEP and activate SKSE memory tweak. See if the combination makes your game playble again. If the game does not recover, then it may be wisest to rebuild the load order and restart the game.

Solitude A City Of Trade,TRUE CITY TGES may be conflicting,i've actually uninstalled all my village overhauls they conflict with too many mods,have you made a bashed patch ? i run SSME even though it's outdated it cut my CTD's down,as i was overloading my card

23 mb save file suggests alot of scripts,did LOOT give any warnings ? have you used TESEdit if any require cleaning ? sextoys-calyps-2 requires Sexlab and could be one of the causes,some of those mods are script heavy,also i didn't see Fus Ro D'oh,you are running FNIS ? have you tried using a clean save ? SNOW CITY could be another one,i was running ETAC but it must have been clashing with my landscape mods as i'd crash going to Dawnstar and Falcreath,i've removed it now and it runs fine (rather sad going back to vanilla)

i've a few warnings about dirty plugins but I don't know how to clean them, stuff like this just goes right over my head. I don't use FNIS. I've cleaned my esm, is esp exactly the same method?

Be careful when cleaning mods. Not all mods should be cleaned, despite that LOOT says so. LOOT only detects dirty edits from mods, but it does not know if they are needed or not. Mod auhtors are mostly aware of the problem, so they usually clean their files. Edits left in files are usually required. However, they do not usally remember to comment the mod, so that LOOT would know if those edits are required.

thanks for the info EDIT: I started over, So far it has only crashed twice but the lag is so bad at times game is almost unplayable, especially combat. I had this problem a while ago that buying a new xbox controller seemed to fix, but surely that can't be the problem.
