Sex has plenty of benefits – from being fun to burning calories – and as with many things, it seems men and women prioritise slightly different advantages.
A survey from affairs website, IllicitEncounter.com, reveals women enjoy sex most because it makes them feel happy, as 72% agreed.
For men, the top outcome was that even when sex is bad, it’s still good, as 82% agreed it’s the most fun thing there is to do that’s free.
Discovering a new sexual partner ranked highly among both genders – but keep in mind those using an affairs website would be inclined to say so.
Women ranked feeling closer to their partner as the second top benefit of sex, but that doesn’t come up for men at all.
Jessica Leoni, sex and relationships expert, said: ‘The findings appear to show that good sex meets a physical need for men and an emotional one for women.
‘More men get frustrated if they aren’t doing it regularly and they place greater value on having sex with new people than women.
‘Women use sex more to bond with partner and escape life’s stresses.
‘What is clear is that good regular sex is vital for both sex’s overall wellbeing.
‘If you are with someone and the sex is not right then it might be time to look for someone new – that is the stark truth revealed in these responses.’

The survey also found that 57% of men and 47% of women agree that regular sex is the top benefit of being in a relationship, and even higher numbers said they couldn’t be in a relationship with someone if the sex wasn’t ‘right’.
