I really don't mean to come off as a bitch in this... or maybe I do!
EVERY SINGLE DAY I log into either Flickr or Second Life to be treated to random DMs and IMs... Flickr mail or inworld messages its all the same... Most of the time its pretty tame comments... The occasional "I love your photos" or "I love your work" is actually MUCH appreciated... I am NOT directing my comments towards that... What I am directing my thoughts to are the ones that have been getting more and more frequent. The least annoying are the ones of people asking to do "collaboration" photos. I get it people do these all the time... I do them too but I only do them with a very short list of people I know well on my friend's list. So to clear the air my answer is NO. I'm a bit overwhelmed by these requests....
I have noticed one thing about some of these requests... they tend to be from people doing VERY sexual photos far more extreme than anything I do... There is a reason I don't go further in my explicit photos... I am married... I have an agreement that I will only go so far in my photos... I know the line and I do not cross that line. I also know who in SL I can trust not to pressure me into doing photos that cross that line. I tend to wonder if some of these collaboration requests are veiled attempts to go beyond the art of photos and are indeed an attempt at making a pass... but I will leave that as a speculation since I have never entertained one of these requests and won't ever.
The WORST kind of DMs and Inworld messages I receive by far are the outright condescending misogynistic filth of outright sexual advances. I am not your "sweetie" or "hunny" and if I liked your photo with your schlong hanging out check your ego at the door it was probably turbo liked with a bunch of other photos i was liking that particular day. I have posted about these types of comments in the past and yet they still continue.
Just the other day while doing an actual Photo shoot in my bathtub I even had someone literally sit down in the bathtub with me change up my pose to a sex pose and when I stood up and began letting him have it he told me to "sit back down." So not only did he selfishly claim my space he even ruined what would have been a really great photo by messing up my edited pose. I'm honestly tired of this... If you are using Flickr and Second Life as a way of pushing yourself on other people then you are the digital version of Harvey Weinstein (Google that POS if you don't get the comparison)
I'm glad you all like my flickr... I'm super glad you appreciate my photos and some of you even brave liking some of my more explicit photos... But photography is an expression of ART for me... This is not Tinder... I'm NOT looking to hook up... And if I like a bunch of your photos its mainly because I tend to like A LOT of photos and its my way of saying THANK YOU for working so hard on your ART.
I honestly love my followers... I love doing photography... I want to and will continue to create the kinds of photos I WANT to make... and if you enjoy them great, I'm glad something I do for me gives other people joy too. But if you are roaming around Flickr or Second Life just looking for the next way you can force yourself on someone truly STOP IT
