As the summer party season kicks off, Wellington police are reminding young people about the importance of consent to prevent sexual harm.
The Don't Guess the Yes campaign has been running since 2018, targeted at young men and focused on consent when partying and alcohol are involved.
It is also being rolled out in Auckland next week.
Unwanted advances are part and parcel of central Wellington nightlife, said Kara Glasgow Keene from the Massey University Students' Association.
"I can speak from personal experience; I've gone out to town multiple times and it's like, you go out on to the dancefloor and get your arse grabbed, it's just such a common occurrence," Glasgow Keene said.
There was a lot of work to do to keep people safe while they partied, which was why the association joined forces with police, the hospitality industry and others to bring back the Don't Guess the Yes campaign.
"It's just such a shame and it really ruins your night and I just think it's really important to be having these conversations about sexual harm and consent, especially around alcohol."
Don't Guess the Yes encourages people to be certain they had consent for any sexual activity.
It also educates hospitality workers about what to do when they see bad behaviour unfolding while they work.
Bar owner Matt McLaughlin said staff could help stop sexual harm by calling it out and helping those in trouble.
" Don't Guess the Yes is vital, it's vital to our industry," he said.
"We want to make our premises safe, we want to make the city safe, we've got a part to play.
"Often we get looked at as a big part of the problem with alcohol consumption and sexual consent.
"We want to be part of the solution."
The conversation about consent also encouraged survivors of sexual harm to report it, said Detective Sergeant Jacqui Rodger who heads up the campaign for Wellington police.
While she could not give concrete numbers about the campaign's success in recent years, Rodger said they don't need to be big, to make a difference.
"If one person from this campaign came forward and said 'hey, I've been harmed, I need help', to me, that's a success."
Police said the campaign has done so well in the capital that it would also launch in Auckland next week.
Following that, Rodger said the ultimate goal was to roll out Don't Guess the Yes to bars, clubs and events across Aotearoa.

The wait for The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 is finally over with the new series dropping two episodes every Thursday on HBO Max.
For the show's second outing, the majority of the main cast has returned, including Pauline Chalamet as Kimberly, Amrit Kaur as Bela, Reneé Rapp as Leighton, Alyah Chanelle Scott as Whitney, Christopher Meyer as Canaan, Midori Francis as Alicia and Mekki Leeper as Eric.
Up-and-coming American actor and Calvin Klein model Mitchell Slaggert has joined the cast as Jackson, a transfer student, and athlete, with a partying background.
Kimberly, Bela, Leighton and Whitney will continue to live their best and at times, chaotic, lives during their freshman year at Essex College. Once again, fans can expect to see a whole load of drama, laughs, romance, sex, heartbreak, scandal and more.
Sadly, Gavin Leatherwood is noticeably absent from the new series, much to fans' disappointment. Newsweek has everything you need to know about why.
Nico Murray has officially left Essex College, and sadly Gavin Leatherwood isn't reprising the role. He was one of the much-loved heartthrobs from Season 1.
His absence may come as a pretty big shock to fans, but Leatherwood did announce the news about his departure earlier this year.
Speaking to US Weekly at the Mercedes-Benz Oscar 2022 Viewing Party in March, Leatherwood explained he had left the series to pursue other opportunities.
He said: "There is a season 2, but I'm not going to go back."
Leatherwood added he was "happy to do the first season," but he was now "branching off and going in a different direction."
He reflected: "It was such an incredible experience. I think Mindy is brilliant and the cast, everyone's lovely.
"But with so many amazing opportunities out there, we want to keep spreading our wings and leading ourselves to other projects so that's the move."
Leatherwood continued: "I think life is short and I think one of the best things about this craft and this industry is that you get to keep stretching into your uncomfortable zone.
"That's when we grow and learn and become stronger artists. So that's kind of what I am looking to do is just to continue to get uncomfortable and learn and grow and hone my craft."
Leatherwood starred in nine of the 10 episodes in the first season of The Sex Lives of College Girls as Kimberly's (Pauline Chalmet) tutor and love interest.
The two embarked on a secret relationship due to Nico's status as her teacher and the fact, he was her roommate's brother.
However, in the finale of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 1, a huge twist revealed Nico actually had a serious, long-term girlfriend, leaving Kimberly devastated.
Since announcing he was leaving the series in March, Leatherwood has released the single "Be My Lover" and a debut EP.
At the moment, it's not known what acting roles Leatherwood is keen to pursue next, but in the meantime, you can watch him in Season 1 of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 1, which is streaming on HBO Max now, and as Nicholas Scratch in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix .

Her body’s so sick — no believes she’s on track to becoming a doctor .
A fever-inducing med student named Jasmin has social media saying “Ahh” in shock, with her flawless face and hot physique leaving many people stunned that she’s pursuing a medical degree.
“If I got $1 every time they tell me I don’t look like a med student ,” Jasmin, from Iran, penned in the closed captions of her viral TikTok about folks questioning her career path.
In the clip, which has garnered more than 176,000 views, the smoking-hot brunette, who’s studying to become an OB/GYN, is seen lip-syncing to Chris Brown and Lil Wayne’s 2014 hit “Loyal.” She empathized the lyrics “Just got rich,” intimating that she’d have a small fortune after collecting single dollars from her doubters.
Beneath both her TikTok and Instagram posts, shady cyber cynics have left cruel comments suggesting that all doctors should looks “ old and miserable ,” and that she’s too “cute” to fill the role.
But the criticisms haven’t deterred Jasmin, who’s currently in her final year of medical school, from striving after her white coat and stethoscope.
“Guess I am not allowed to take care of myself ,” she sarcastically penned as the caption of the post, tacking on the hashtag #Stereotypes for added effect.
However, amid the wave of flak, the dazzling doctor-to-be did received an outpouring of support from other medical professionals who also are forced to endure snide remarks from haters.
“Story of my life,” one future physician commented. “[People] automatically assume I’m a nurse.”
Another annoyed audience member asked: “What do med students exactly look like? Like are we a different breed or something? Comments like these irritate me.”
And an equally ticked-off viewer wrote, “When will people realize the whole beauty vs brains thing is a myth. [You] can be pretty AND smart ,” to which Jasmin agreed, replying, “For real.”

Lee County investigators said multiple minor children have been victims of sexual abuse committed by a teacher.
SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Sanford middle-school teacher charged with sex crimes involving several students appeared before a judge Friday in a Lee County courtroom.
Andrew Braxton Allen, 32, of Siler City, was arrested Thursday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office after an investigation that began weeks earlier.
The sheriff's office began investigating on Nov. 2 after receiving a report regarding an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student at San-Lee Middle School.
Investigators said they discovered that Allen allegedly had "numerous inappropriate relationships" with several students throughout his tenure at San-Lee Middle School. Allen worked at the school from 2012 until this year.
In a statement, Lee County Schools said Allen was "immediately suspended with pay pending a thorough investigation," on Nov. 2 when the allegations surfaced.
Two days later, Allen was suspended without pay pending Board action, and he resigned from his position on Nov. 6, the school district said.
The sheriff's office said it identified "multiple minor children" that were victims of sexual abuse.
"The Board wants to emphasize that student safety is our highest priority," LCS said in the statement. "All employees are screened before being hired, a process that includes criminal background checks and reference checks. School administrators monitor teachers and respond to any concerns that are raised.
"We understand that there will be many questions and that our community will need time and support in order to process and respond to this terrible situation," LCS added. "We are providing additional support to the San-Lee Middle School community, including additional counselors and other staff to support students."
On Nov. 14, a grand jury indicted Allen on charges of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult, indecent liberties with a child, and sexual activity with a student.
Allen initially received a $250,000 secured bond but on Friday, the judge raised the bond to $2 million.
He was transferred from the Lee County Jail to Central Prison in Raleigh until his next appearance, which is expected to take place in January.
"Recognizing the sensitive nature of this situation, we defer to parents about how and what to communicate to your children regarding what has occurred," LCS said. "Most of all, thank you for supporting the many Lee County Schools employees who are deeply committed to our children's education and their well-being."
The sheriff's office also asked that any parents who had students taught by Allen who have concerns about any possible inappropriate conduct contact authorities for follow-up.
The case remains under investigation.
