The festive season is upon us and you can guarantee that there will be the need to buy something fancy dress for an event – either for yourself or the kids. But what we don’t really expect is to see something X-rated in amongst the Queen Elsa and Moana costumes.
Sydney, Australia mom-of-two Katrina was shopping for her daughter’s end-of-year concert costume at a popular party store in the suburb of Alexandria when she stumbled on a package that forced her to do a double-take.
“I was on the hunt for some white gloves for my daughter’s Christmas concert and then saw something that I couldn’t help but laugh at,” she told Kidspot.
The item that stopped the mom in her tracks was a rather hilarious X-rated genie costume complete with a lamp around the groin area with instructions saying “rub me.”
The ‘Genie in the Lamp’ costume was on sale at the store for a bargain price of $29.50 and while initially hilarious, the mom was shocked to see that the costume, clearly intended for adults, was sitting in amongst common children’s dress-up items.
“When I first saw it, I did a double take and giggled before taking a photo of it and sending it to my friends. But then I thought how bad it was that while I was there looking for kids’ items that it was there,” the stunned mom shared.
Luckily for Katrina, her children or any other child with other customers were not present, so the item went unnoticed by little, innocent eyes.
“I was glad that the kids weren’t with me because my 9-year-old is definitely old enough to notice that there is something a little rude about the image. Not for the ‘rub me’ comment but just the fact that the spout is in the area that it’s in,” she said.
Still, the mom was able to see the funny side of things and revealed that while it was definitely not something she would show the kids, she isn’t exactly ruling out buying it for her next adult-only dress-up party.
“I didn’t buy it but I did tell my husband that this will be his next costume,” she laughed.
Earlier in September, just as Christmas decorations started to roll out in stores, another shopper was strolling around Big W when she stumbled upon a box of festive lights that appeared to be a little risqué.
“So um…. tell me I’m not the only one that thinks these are really REALLY festive… I mean a bit HARD to miss yeah???” she shared in the Christmas Moms Australia Facebook group.
The shopper was referring to a box of Mirabella Genio Festoon Lights , which are being sold in store and online for $45.
“Whether you use this set indoors or outdoors, they will brighten up your space,” the retailer’s website describes the decorations, which can be controlled from your phone using an app.
The shopper wasn’t the only one who noticed the X-rated shape of the lights. And if you haven’t figured it out already, they’re laughing because they appear to be in the shape of a penis!
“Another way you could say lighting up your life,” one shopper commented online.
“My kids saw these yesterday at Big W and they were cracking up at the penis lights lol,” another added.

Parker Miller has worked on several “big” cases for Montgomery’s Beasley Allen law firm: Opioid addiction. The BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
But serving as principal of a lawsuit on behalf of an Alabama mother whose son was filmed during a sexual assault, in the case against the parent company of Pornhub, is in a different category.
“I’m not sure if I’ve worked on a case this important,” Miller said.
The lawsuit, filed last month in U.S. District Court for Alabama’s Middle District, seeks damages from MindGeek and various other companies.
MindGeek owns Pornhub, a site where users share and purchase streaming pornographic videos.
The suit seeks damages and contends that the site’s actions violated federal and state laws dealing with child trafficking and exploitation.
It was filed on behalf of a Greenville woman whose children were at the heart of a case that, in May, sent a Greenville man to federal prison for 40 years after his conviction for sexual exploitation of a child, advertising child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.
According to federal prosecutors, Rocky Shay Franklin, 36, enticed two minors in the summer of 2018 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for videos. Later that year, in May and October, he uploaded multiple videos to Pornhub from Greenville and Montgomery.
According to the 78-page lawsuit, Franklin lived with the mother filing suit, and her children, for four months in 2018. During that time, he raped at least two children, including a 12-year-old boy whom he “overpowered,” drugged and filmed.
The videos generated 188,000 video views with more than 1,100 subscribers on Pornhub, the suit states. One video generated more than 50,000 views, while another was sold for $15. More than 20 were listed, with titles suggesting they involved a minor.
Miller, who works out of Beasley Allen’s Atlanta office, said the abuse has been “ruinous” for the children involved.
“It’s not a good situation,” he said.
“What’s so bad about this is, once you put videos like this on the Internet, they’re going to be there forever. They offered the videos for view and download. There’s no telling how many of these videos are circulating all over the world, and they’re crime scenes.
“Imagine how difficult it would be to know that your sexual abuse is being publicized across the world, and it’s going to be there forever,” Miller said. “And wherever you go, you have to deal with the possibility that it could resurface and ruin you again. It’s like a permanent injury, in a lot of ways.”
Miller said the case is only the most recent one against Pornhub, which has been the subject of several court challenges involving videos of underage victims, such as a 2021 suit involving an Alabama teen . What makes it different is the information generated as a result of Franklin’s criminal investigation.
According to the suit, the videos were available on the site until December of 2019, after authorities made three inquiries about removing them. Franklin was arrested in May of 2020.
In a statement, MindGeek was quoted by Daily Wire as saying, “We sympathize with all victims of abuse...We have zero tolerance for illegal material.”
“What’s really sad is that (Pornhub) were clearly on notice that they had problems for months, if not years, before this happened,” he said. “The whole purpose of the website is to drive traffic. It doesn’t appear that they had taken any meaningful action to curtail it, so it created this demand and market for it.”
According to the lawsuit, the videos Franklin created were made in an atmosphere before the site removed videos where the age, identification or consent of people was not clear. Back in 2020, both MasterCard and Visa cut their payment services to Pornhub, shortly before the site removed all videos by unverified users.
But the business model for the site is, like other Internet sites, predicated on driving traffic through search terms, tags and certain phrases to generate views.
Miller said the explicit nature of the videos - and the fact that they showed a minor being assaulted - was obvious from the titles, with terms like “stepnephew,” “taking teen virginity,” “another teen virgin,” “my sweet little nephew,” “teenager.” A system looking for such terms should have been in place to purge them from the site, he said, as well as age verification.
“This lawsuit is not about the distribution of legal pornography between consenting adults,” he said. “It’s about the distribution of what is obviously child sexual abuse material. There is no way this information should have ever been put forward. Instead, it was continuously posted over a period of several months.
Miller said the lawsuit could serve a larger purpose in sending a message that there are “severe consequences if you in any way participate in a venture like this.”
“This is not something society should just sweep under the rug, or say it’s so dark that we don’t want to deal with it,” he said. “It’s something that has to be dealt with.”

A chimpanzee named Mahale was reunited with her newborn at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas.
A momma chimpanzee and her newborn baby had a tearful reunion at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, after being separated for nearly two days following complications from delivery.
The chimpanzee , named Mahale, underwent an emergency C-section Nov. 15, and her baby, Kucheza — "play" in Swahili — was placed in the zoo's veterinary hospital by animal care staff. Mom and baby were kept apart for nearly two days before they were reunited.
Footage recorded by the Sedgwick County Zoo shows the moment mom was able to hold her baby for the first time.
In the video, which was posted to the zoo's Facebook page , Mahale is seen entering an enclosure where zookeepers had placed Kucheza, who was swaddled in blankets.

At first, Mahale doesn't appear to recognize what's in the blankets. She appears to peer for a closer look when a tiny hand stretches out toward her.
Immediately, Mahale snatches her baby into a tight embrace.
Zoo staff can be heard in the background starting to cry as they admire mom's love for her baby .
"It's one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen. She knows it’s her baby laying there. The baby is being very still. She’s looking at it like, ‘What’s going on?’ And once he moves, you see the relief and the love and just, oh my gosh, it’s just amazing. As a mom myself, it’s just, oh my gosh," the zoo's communications director, Jennica King, told FOX TV Stations.

The zoo explained on Facebook that Kucheza was born via C-section because of a complication during birth. The baby chimp had trouble getting oxygen and was hospitalized for treatment before making a quick recovery.
Once zoo doctors gave the green light, Kucheza was returned to the chimpanzee enclosure where Mahale could view him through a mesh screen. They were reunited once zookeepers felt it was safe to do so, according to KTVU-TV .
Mahale and Kucheza are now "doing great," according to the zoo's recent Facebook posts.
