Having a comfortable couch and other sitting spaces are a necessity in every home, now more than ever. With that said, there’s no seat that can compete with the Lovesac. If you aren’t exactly sure what that is, we’ve got you covered.
We’ll be sharing our personal Lovesac reviews as well as what other customers think about their Sacs and Sactionals. If you’re debating whether or not to splurge on their bean bags or their high-end couches, then keep reading.
To start, Lovesac is a very popular brand that created a legendary giant beanbag sack that is arguably the most comfortable option out there.
However, instead of beans, they’re actually made with Durafoam which allows you to sink oh-so comfortably into the chair. Some of their bean bags are even large enough for up to 4 people to lay on at once. Pretty cool, right?
This idea all started from Shawn Nelson who built his own eight-piece Lovesac in his parent’s basement back in the 90s. This later became a collaboration with his friend Dave Underwood, which brought the two to create a business from it. From there, it’s history.
Plush bean bags aren’t all that Lovesac offers.
Instead of a poofy bean bag, their other best-selling product is the Lovesac Sactional – a modular couch that’s been upgraded for maximum comfort. The coolest thing is that there are so many different potential versions of this couch.
From a single seat to up to a 10 seat with 12 sides, you have the option to make a couch as big or small as you’d like. Plus, you can continue building on to it if you decide you want a larger couch later down the line or just can’t afford to buy all the pieces you want right now.
Another cool feature is that the Sactional also features storage in every seat (perfect for stashing your box of chocolates that you just know your spouse is going to eat).
Similar to the Lovesac, the Sactional comes with removable and washable covers that you can throw into the washing machine whenever they get dirty.
Now that you know what Lovesac offers, let’s dive into our reviews of this brand.
After eyeballing Lovesac for months, my partner and I finally decided we wanted to buy a bean bag to add extra coziness to our house. We had sat in them a few times and couldn’t get over how comfortable they were.
We opted for the MovieSac since we wanted one that fit two people and didn’t take up a massive amount of space. We stumbled across a good deal on Facebook Marketplace and saved a good amount of money.
If you’re struggling to stomach the high cost of a Lovesac, we highly recommend looking for one locally to save some money. The covers can easily be washed, so you don’t have to worry about sanitary issues if you’re a germaphobe like us.
Overall, we’re happy we added a Lovesac to our home and definitely feel like we got our money’s worth. This thing is years and years old and it still feels incredible! I can’t even count how many naps I’ve taken on it. The washable cover is a lifesaver since we have pets.
However, I do wish we bought the Costco version because it comes with a matching ottoman. This would have given extra comfort, plus made the setup look better in our home.
While the price tag might be a bit high, we definitely think the Sacs from Lovesac are worth it. The comfort is incomparable to other brands we’ve tried, plus their return policy is pretty great in case you decide it’s not a good fit for you (you can return within 60 days for a full refund).
They also last forever – we’ve had ours for longer than a year and the person who owned it before us had it for a couple of years as well. It still looks and feels new!
As far as the Sactionals go, we haven’t actually owned one, but we have sat in them and they did feel super comfortable. We wouldn’t say they felt more comfortable than other couches, but we do think the extra features add to the overall value (like washable covers, storage space, etc.)
For deeper insight on their couches, we’ve compiled some of the top reviews on their Sacs and Sactionals below:
Here are some quotes featuring the most common feedback we saw from real people:
“I absolutely love my CitySac and squattoman. It’s so comfortable. I take a nap in it every day.” – adrlev on Reddit
“We have a PillowSac and a CitySac . Both are pretty great and both cradle you differently. The PillowSac, when set up with the corners up, sits you up higher than the other sacs. It’s great as a game chair. To me, it’s easier to get out of. I’ve also laid it flat and zonked out on it. They made a rocker for it in the past so if you can get your hands on one of those, I hear it’s a great addition to the PillowSac experience. It’s super comfortable all around.” – MrsLydKnuckles on Reddit
“The truth of the matter is the sofa is no more comfortable than any other sofa you’ve ever sat on. The overwhelming amount of boxes that arrived, the hours on hours we spent unpacking and assembling our sofa, the trial and error of connecting the pieces – all of this adds up to way too much hype and an overblown, overrated product. Who pays 9 grand for a sofa?” – Upstairs-Persimmon92 on Reddit
“It’s indestructible. We have a dog, two cats, and a preschooler and this couch gets beat up. When I give it a wash and fluff the pillows it looks brand new. I got coffee out of my sky-grey covers just last week with a single machine wash. If something does get destroyed somehow, I can just replace that single piece instead of the whole couch.” – poopiverse on Reddit
“I just bought a Sactional and am very impressed. Very high quality and comfortable (deep seat setup) . . . I’ve had a great customer service experience. The sky-grey corded velvet looks great.” – Zestyclose-Debt-5845 on Reddit
“The backrest isn’t angled so it’s set at a 90-degree angle, making it nearly impossible to lounge on. You can feel the backrest through the pillows. The pillows are stiff and just not comfortable. I’m a 6′ male and sat on it for well over a month. I also had a 5’2 female friend sleep on it for a week. She agreed that I should return it.” – zoery380 on Reddit
“I would only get the Sactional if you can afford the Lovesoft back pillow . Keeps its shape and is super comfortable. I have an 8 seat 7 side setup and love it.” – sugargameray on Reddit
Overall, Lovesac reviews seemed to agree that the Lovesoft back pillow is an important feature to add on if you want to ensure your Sactional is as comfortable as can be. That said, many people said the couch is the best thing ever or simply not worth it, so it seems to be a hit or miss.
When it comes to pricing, the Lovesac and the Sactional vary.
For their smallest GamerSack you can expect to pay around $600 (this includes the insert and the cover). However, the description states that it seats 1 child, so this might not be a good fit for adults. Their CitySack full set seats one adult and costs $750–$875 depending on current sales and discounts.
The prices also depend on which cover you pick. The luxury fur-like covers are $100–$200 extra, whereas the Velvet or Chenille covers are more affordable. They also have custom covers, but we wouldn’t recommend these if you’re new to Lovesac because they can’t be returned.
For larger sacks, depending on how many people you want to fit on it, you may pay up to $1,700 for up to 4 people . However, they are often running sales on these, so this usually takes off $300 – $400 on average.
Note : Lovesac is available at Costco for a better deal (sizes small-large) plus it includes a matching ottoman that you’d normally have to pay extra for, so I’d definitely recommend buying it here if you can. The only downsides are that there are fewer color selections and shipping typically takes a bit longer.
Again, if you want it to fit more people, it’s going to cost you more.
For a one-seat Sactional with one side, the price is around $1,100 without a discount. But, you probably want more seats and sides to create a couch that looks full and fits multiple people. You can view various configurations and pricing of each.
For the largest option with 10 seats and 12 side pieces, it’s going to be around $11,600. With a typical discount, this would be around $8,100 instead.
Overall, the price will depend on how many pieces and sides you want on your sofa , so check out all the options . They also offer their new StealthTech immersive sound system that costs an extra $6,000 or more to add to your Sactional, so that will add a significant amount to your total if you decide to get it (this can also be added on later if desired).
And, if you’d rather not pay in one lump sum, they do offer financing options .
Note : There are a couple of Sactional configurations available at Costco for a better deal than their website, including a large sectional and a smaller sectional .
For their return policy, Lovesac gives you the option to return your furniture if you aren’t totally satisfied within 60 days of the arrival date .
However, floor models, clearance items, and custom merchandise are final sale and are not eligible for refunds or returns.
Their shipping is also 100% free for all orders in the US, which is a huge plus.
Lovesac also has some pretty good perks as far as warranties go. For each different product, there’s a different guarantee. For example:
With that said, Lovesac does not offer warranties for certain issues. These include pet damage, color fade, burn damage, mold, body fluids, or failure to wash properly. So, make sure you take good care of your Lovesac product to avoid any issues with the company.
Overall, Lovesac products are a great investment for your home if you have the money to spend. They truly are so comfortable – we absolutely love our Sac. If you’re still trying to decide, you might as well give it a shot since they offer a generous 60-day return policy if it doesn’t work out for your home.
We’ve seen great reviews on their Sacs while the Sactionals tend to be less liked overall , likely due to the high price point. Many people don’t feel the sofas are worth the money. There are definitely some perks to their sofa like washable covers and being able to change around the layout, but if you’re able to spend $2,000+ on a sofa, you can find a comfortable sofa almost anywhere.
