Candace Cameron Bure's comments about not featuring same-sex couples in her films have met criticism.
Bure, who is now working as Great American Family's chief creative officer, recently spoke about wanting to put religion back into Christmas movies. The actress' departure from Hallmark comes as the network attempts to add more diversity to its lineup.
"The Holiday Sitter," Hallmark's first original film to focus on a same-sex couple, is set to be released next month.
When asked by the Wall Street Journal if her new channel will feature any LGBTQ storylines, Bure said no.
"I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core," she said.

However, the chief executive of Great American Media and orginal creator of the Hallmark Channel noted that there isn't a set plan.
"It’s certainly the year 2022, so we’re aware of the trends," Bill Abbott told the outlet. "There’s no whiteboard that says, ‘Yes, this’ or ‘No, we’ll never go here.'"
Bure's statement was called out by Hilarie Burton and Jojo Siwa.
Burton reacted to the comments on Twitter, slamming Bure as "disgusting."
"Now they're just openly admitting their bigotry. I called this s--- out years ago when Abbott was at Hallmark," she wrote. "Glad they dumped him. Being LGBTQ isn't a ‘trend.’ That guy and his network are disgusting. You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples."
"Bigot," Burton added. "I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank."

Jojo Siwa called out Candace Cameron Bure on Instagram.

Siwa shared her thoughts on Instagram.
"Honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press," she wrote.
"This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."
Jodie Sweetin, Bure's "Full House" co-star, was seen in Siwa's comment section, showing her support. "You know I love you," she wrote, adding two red heart emojis.
This isn't the first time Siwa has had issues with Bure . The former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant chose Bure as the "rudest" celebrity she had ever met while participating in a TikTok trend.
The two spoke about it and seemingly put the past behind them.

Bure departed the Hallmark Channel in April. She had worked with the popular network for over a decade, previously starring in 10 holiday movies and 30 films overall for Hallmark's Crown Media.
"My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them," she told the WSJ. "I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment."
In a previous statement, Bure shared how her personal beliefs align with Great American Family.
"I'm very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch," she stated.
While Bure did not touch on her departure from the Hallmark Channel, she did say, "It basically is a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership."

TAMPA, Fla. - A new sex education curriculum is getting some pushback from Hillsborough County parents. A petition with thousands of signatures opposing the curriculum prompted a school district special hearing.
The new curriculum that was approved back in September drew in dozens of parents and activists for the special hearing. More than 40 speakers spent hours Thursday voicing their objections.
"The curriculum is morally reprehensible and unnecessarily graphic," said one speaker at the hearing.
There have been concerns about instruction on everything from contraception to gender identity.
The district said the curriculum meets state standards, and the sex education lessons cover 7th, 8th and 9th grades. They said the curriculum does emphasize abstinence to prevent pregnancy and disease, and it was reviewed by community members and attorneys.
Parents and community members on both sides of a debate about sex education in Hillsborough County Schools will have the chance to be heard during a meeting Thursday.
The hearing was in front of an impartial hearing-master who will make recommendations based on what was heard at the meeting. Once a recommendation is given to the school board, they could vote to alter the lesson plans or keep them the way they are.
Parents do have an opt-out option within the district, but another concern some parents had was that the form is too vague about reasons they might want to kep their kids out of the classes.
The district's attorney also spoke at the hearing, pushing back against many accusations made by parents.
"So 91% of the students who took the test, felt it was age appropriate for them? That’s correct," attorney Jeff Gibson said.
The recommendations are expected to be ready in about two to three weeks. Once the material is given to the school board, they should take a vote at the next available hearing, likely in mid-December before Winter Break.

You’ve decided to co-sleep with your baby, but you don’t want to miss out on sexy time. Learn creative tips from veteran co-sleeping parents on how to keep the spark alive.
What’s the biggest question that the general public has about co-sleeping? Next to safety, it’s… you guessed it… S-E-X. If your kids are in the bed with you, what exactly is going on with your sex life? Does your sex life take an immediate nose dive? Does it stop completely? Do you have sex in the same room with the kids? Ewww!
OK people, don’t get your panties in a bunch. The truth is, co-sleeping does affect your sex life. But only because it requires that you get a little more creative in the bedroom. And I’d bet Fifty Shades of Grey that more creativity in the bedroom is something every couple would enjoy.
In my personal experience with having a family bed , co-sleeping has been nothing but positive for our sex life. Sure, the bedroom is often off limits, but since when is the bedroom the only place you can have fun? In fact, by keeping the bedroom virgin territory, it requires that we have to use a little extra imagination, which has been a real benefit after having kids. Without that extra push, it could be so easy to let things dwindle into monotony. But take the bedroom away and you’ve got a whole house to explore for romantic potential.
Whether you co-sleep or not, the transition to parenthood itself is often the biggest change to a couple’s sex life. Before kids, figuring out when and where to have some adult-only time was a no-brainer. Now, fun time is often no more than 22 minutes long and afterwards we have to throw props to Dora the Explorer or Bob the Builder for being so dang entertaining.
The greatest challenge in keeping the spice alive in your marriage is not where you sleep together, but how to build and maintain intimacy when the idea of a three-hour nap seriously rivals, well… you know. Being over-tired and overwhelmed are often way more serious issues in a couple’s post-baby sex life than where to make the romance happen.
Want to add some sizzle back into sexy time? Say goodbye to spontaneity and say hello to your day planner. Don’t wait for the right moment to strike. Sneaking in sex with a baby around can be as complicated as college math. Do yourself a favor and schedule some adult-only time into your week. Whether you need to hire a babysitter, beef up your supply of Dora videos or just take more advantage of naptime nookie, prioritizing your sex life is always a plus.
Jenna and Steven, co-sleeping parents, share their secrets: “After the baby is asleep, we send flirty texts to each other to get the romance going. Even if we only have time for a quickie, we cherish the time we have to be alone together and our intimate relationship is not the least bit challenged. If anything, it’s hotter and more exciting than ever.”
