Meet Otis Milburn -- an inexperienced, socially awkward high school student who lives with his mother, a sex therapist. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject. When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status. He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students' weird and wonderful problems. Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realises he may need some therapy of his own.

Bawdy, heartfelt, and surprisingly wise, Sex Education is a raucous romp through a group of teenagers whose sexual misadventures are so thoughtfully rendered, adults could learn a thing or two from them.

Sex Education: Season 1 Featurette - Who's Who
Feeling pressured by the rumor that everyone in his class is having sex except him, awkward teenager Otis (Asa Butterfield) struggles with masturbating. It doesn't help that his mother, sex therapist Dr. Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), constantly meddles with his personal life. Things come to a weird turn when Adam (Connor Swindells), his school's resident bully, learns about Jean and asks Otis for help regarding his sex life with girlfriend Aimee (Aimee Lou Woods). The situation becomes even weirder when the school's resident bad girl Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Otis' gay best friend Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) persuade Otis to open a "sex therapy clinic" in school, with Maeve and Otis splitting the profits.

One of the sweetest and wisest teen sex comedies going.
Between the simply stunning shots of English forests and hills and the charming cast, the world of Sex Education is one you genuinely want to live in.

Here is a series that pulls off a curious trick: It's a woke raunch comedy, replete with graphic and humiliating sexual experiences, yet bent on using them in a very sincere way.
As Sex Education becomes more confident and aware of what it is and what it wants, it starts to feel great. It feels healthy and funny and sexy and complicated and sad. And perhaps most importantly, it feels like a story well-told.
The weirdest thing I think is that it's a school which is incredibly American - they've angled the show so it can be popular beyond the UK. I was expecting a cheerleading team to emerge at any moment.
A teen show that's surprisingly mature about sex.

Forgive the pun, but [Sex Education] starts with a bang, but then flops.

Watching Sex Education is a joy precisely because it mines boners for all their worth.
From the preposterous plot synopsis offered by Netflix, you may go into Sex Education expecting a hilariously irreverent teen sex comedy but you will surely walk away with something far more insightful -- and painfully beautiful.
Education grasps the universality of the confusion, discomfort, desire, thrill, and heartbreak sex visits upon us all. And they throw in some cracking first-class jokes for good measure, too.
Come for the impressively information-based and progressive take on actual sex education, stay for a lovable group of instantly classic characters...
Sex Education will have you chuckling, blubbering and wincing in equal measure.
Sex Education is surprisingly bold and different, unafraid to tackle numerous themes of young adulthood through emotionally rich characters and feel-good comedy. As someone who is not a fan of teen shows, Sex Education caught me off guard with its unexpected maturity and depth. The most impactful scenes are those which deal with real problems in authentic ways, moving the audience in the process. There is so much left to explore in this puberty-riddled universe, and I cannot wait to watch Season 2.
The diversity and openness is an absolute joy to watch.
season 1 isnt too bad, starts with interesting characters, from times its funny... though it has a nasty smell attached. hope they dont go overboard with agendas and continue with good characters and story.
This show is so much different from other shows. Completed both seasons in single day. Writing, casting and storylines; all are good. Show has every emotion whether it it is comedy, drama, love etc. One thing I liked about this show was that it involved alot of characters who had their individual storylines. Overall, would recommend it to everyone.
The series seems well written and the concept is interesting; The filming is good etc. However I just can't buy that these 22+ year olds are 16. Assa Butterfiled who is a fine young actor is 22 as of 2019, but his character is 16. He looks a bit on the young side, but he doesn't look like he belongs in high school. Connor Swindells who plays the tough guy, is 23, but he looks more like 25+ and would be more suited in a war movie about US Marines. Some people may be able to look past this, but I couldn't and after 4 episodes, I packed it in.
I absolutely love this show! From the amazing acting, hilarious jokes, beautiful direction, and just handling these topics the way they do, I cannot state how much I enjoy it!
A must see! A funny, heartfelt, emotional sex drama that is done in the best way possible!
I really like the complexity of the characters. Each of them has interesting story arcs that you can actually have another series with them as the central character.
