You've probably heard of Sex Education by now — the adorably funny, coming-of-age Netflix masterpiece that focuses on teens growing up and exploring their sexuality.

Laurie Nunn — the genius behind Sex Education — spent her teen years watching films like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles . Alongside director Ben Taylor, they decided to give the show a retro feel to not only pay homage to classic teen tropes, but to also give them a fresh perspective by combining it with contemporary storylines.
You've probably noticed that although Sex Education is set in the UK, there's a lot references to American high school culture, like letterman jackets, the absence of uniforms and students playing American football.
Jamie Campbell — the show's executive producer — also mentioned that a lot of British shows, like Grange Hill for example, tend to look a bit miserable and show the worst times of our lives. On the other hand, Sex Education was made to look "aspirational" and reflect an environment where teens would be having memorable and positive experiences.
If you're not up to date with your John Hughes movies, The Breakfast Club focuses on five high schoolers from different social groups completing detention together. And in Sex Education , Maeve, Aimee, Ola, Lily, Viv and Olivia — who are from different school cliques — are forced to spend detention together, which then leads to them bonding, despite their differences, and the emotional bus scene .
And just in case you've forgotten their character counterparts, Gillian plays Jean Milburn, Asa plays her son, Otis, and Hannah plays Jackson's mum, Sofia Marchetti.
Bonus fact: Emma didn't even have proper headshots to send to the producers for her audition! She used some from her Instagram instead.
According to the cast, they watched lions, cats, bonobos and even slugs doing the dirty. 👀
In an interview with IndieWire , Emma said that choreographing the intimacy scenes helped make them more practical, fun and safe. So while filming, it would often play out like, "We’re gonna kiss for three beats, and then you’re gonna put me against the wall, and you can touch me here, and then we’re gonna make out more and then you’ll lift me after four."
Gillian ended up re-reading the script and found it hilarious, which is a God send because she plays Jean so damn well.
He had to perform this in an office with Ben and producer Jon Jennings.
And according to Ncuti, it's one of his favourite outfits he's ever worn for the series.
They were all dressed by Tom Hopkins, the crowd costume supervisor.
As you can see, the one Adam makes is done in exactly the same format as the one used for Will Byer's poster in Stranger Things .
But that role eventually went to Tanya Reynolds.
In an interview with BT, Asa said, "I was twerking, I took my top off. It was very heightened, but also very cathartic."
Ncuti has a playlist, which contains a song for each of Eric’s scenes, as well as one for his entire storyline to help set the mood. On the other hand, Aimee’s character is very present in all her conversations, so when acting she makes sure to put her entire attention into listening and understanding the other person. For Mimi Keene (Ruby Matthews), it’s about the costume, makeup and long nails.
Although for those lush exterior and balcony shots where Jean and Otis are having breakfast, a chalet located in Wye Valley, Herefordshire was used. And if you're interested, you'll soon be able to rent it !
Which made things slightly more awkward, of course.
Just to give your mind a refresh, this was part of the opening montage of Season 2 where Otis has the urge to masturbate EVERYWHERE. As he's waiting in the car for Jean to return from an errand, he goes at it and gets caught — but not before he finishes the deed. To get the shot, numerous adjustments of a prosthetic penis were used, as well as a well-timed and angled blast of coconut shampoo on the driver's side window.
While the show is fun and games a lot of the time, the producers thought there was a responsibility to give accurate advice, especially when the lead character does so.
If you don't remember, Season 2 finished with the sort of cliffhanger that makes you want to pull out your hair. Otis goes to visit Maeve after leaving a voicemail explaining his feelings for her. But as luck would have it, he just misses her, and instead trusts Isaac to tell Maeve to check her phone. Being the "dirty pig" he is, Isaac listens to Maeve's voicemail and DELETES Otis' message, and we're left with no happy reunion scene. The series then ends with both of them walking off in different directions.
Now, the difference with the alternative version would be that it would still have the same slow-mo tracking shot of the leads, but Ben directed Asa and Emma to look as if they had just seen each other, which would hint at something more hopeful between the two of them for the next season.
The cast had to be tested 2-3 times a week and had to be two meters apart at all times. Despite this, the intimate feeling of the show's scenes were preserved.
According to Asa, the moustache was first sketched out and then sent to someone who tied individual hairs onto the lace piece. It was then attached to his face.

The Neenah School Board in Wisconsin voted this week to approve a highly controversial sex educat i on curriculum that begins introducing gender ideology, sexually transmitted diseases, homosexual parents and other topics – in Kindergarten. The sex education indoctrination gets progressively more extreme with each year of elementary school.
And Wisconsin isn’t the only state something very similar is happening in!
You can check out the worst images that are being shown to 5-6 year olds in a link below. If they make you angry, it makes me angry to need to make parents aware of it. I’m a past homeschool mom and will not just go back to ‘doing my own thing’, forgetting there are others out there fighting the war for their kids’ hearts and minds and souls. I am still proactive when it comes to what is happening to our children. This just shouldn’t be happening in school!
Why do they show cartoonish images of naked adults alongside naked babies and children? Why do 5 and 6 year-olds need to know this?
Known as the “Human Growth and Development” curriculum, the materials include images of naked adults and children and babies that critics have described as soft porn. The controversial sex education program also seeks to blur or eliminate gender distinctions while normalizing homosexuality, transgenderism, confusion, and more.
Starting this fall, Wisconsin Kindergartners learn about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. They will also learn about “gender,” as well as homosexual relationships and “families,” which they will be taught are equal to heterosexual relationships and families.
When learning about commonalities regardless of “whom we love” and how “love is the same,” the children will see a drawing of two men sharing flowers with each other.
As part of the sex education scheme, teachers are supposed to explain to the young children that boys can wear dresses or play with dolls, so really there are no differences between boys and girls. When doing the “Assessment and Evaluation” of the Kindergartners after drilling them on gender ideology, one of the criteria used is: “Do they seem comfortable stretching gender stereotypes?”
It was not clear whether the students would be punished or re-educated for not being comfortable stretching male and female, the two biological genders.
After that, the kids will learn the names of male and female private parts with bizarre images that sparked fierce criticism from parents.

By first grade, the teachers begin full-blown indoctrination into the latest versions of gender ideology. “Define gender identity as a person’s deeply held sense of psychological knowledge of their own gender,” the materials say, adding that children should be told to talk to certain adults about their “gender identity and sexual orientation.”
Then they will do a “welcoming schools” lesson so they can learn how to become an “ally” of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) movement. “At school, it is important for educators to create gender-expansive environments where children can be whole by expressing every part of their personality,” the first grade materials say.
In the “Assessment and Evaluation” section, it reads: “Ongoing teacher observation on whether or not students feel comfortable making choices outside gender expectations,” and “On going [sic] teacher observation of ally behavior when children participate all [sic] kinds of traditional and non traditional work and play.”
The children are also expected to watch Bill Nye the radical leftist pseudo-“Science Guy.” When learning about reproduction in first grade, first they learn about animals, then about humans.
Before the children even turn 12, they will be encouraged to explore whether they are homosexuals. The standards tell teachers to “Define sexual orientation as a person’s experience of being romantically, physically, and emotionally attracted to men, women, both, or neither.”
The sex education curriculum for most grades was approved 5 to 3.

The American College of Pediatricians says that indoctrinating children into believing they can change genders is “child abuse. ” Parents must protect their children from this dangerous indoctrination and abuse. And if this sort of perversion is being pushed in rural Wisconsin, it could be everywhere — including your local schools.

California is about to implement new abortion- and homosexuality-promoting sex education lessons, and so far one school district has told parents they have no choice but to expose their children to them.
California enacted the California Healthy Youth Act in 2015, but only now are its controversial provisions starting to take effect in classrooms. Under the auspices of health, the law says it will equip students to develop “healthy attitudes” on “gender [and] sexual orientation,” among other things. It also says it will inform students about the “effectiveness and safety of all FDA-approved contraceptive methods,” and facilitate “objective discussion” about “parenting, adoption, and abortion.”
Kira Davis, a resident of Orange County, warns that among the teaching materials approved for use under this law are a study guide for the transgender children’s book I Am Jazz , as well as a “ sexual health toolkit .”
The sexual health toolkit link has been disabled , but use this link , scroll down and you will see topics such as Safer Sex Toy Use, Safer Sex and Lubrication, anal toys, Wetter Makes It Better, etc.
This “toolkit,” (my source says, but I cannot verify) funded in part by the George Soros-connected Tides Center , offers kids tips on using sex toys and anal lubricant. It defines “anal intercourse,” “phone sex,” and more as “common sexual behaviors.” It teaches that “abstinence” and “virginity” can mean engaging in a variety of sexual activities, but stopping short of intercourse.
“What if you don’t have time or money to buy sex toys?” the guide asks on page C-51. “Cucumbers, carrots, and bananas (with the peel) make great dildos. Just remember to use a condom!”
It teaches that one of the “cons” of abstaining from all sexual activity is that it “requires motivation, self-control and communication from both partners.”
