Every young person will one day have life-changing decisions to make about their sexual and reproductive health. Yet research shows that the majority of adolescents lack the knowledge required to make those decisions responsibly, leaving them vulnerable to coercion, sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy.
Comprehensive sexuality education enables young people to protect their health, well-being and dignity. And because these programmes are based on human rights principles, they advance gender equality and the rights and empowerment of young people.
UNFPA works with governments to implement comprehensive sexuality education, both in schools and through community-based training and outreach. UNFPA also promotes policies for, and investment in, sexuality education programmes that meet internationally agreed standards.

Comprehensive sexuality education is a rights-based and gender-focused approach to sexuality education, whether in school or out of school. It is taught over several years, providing age-appropriate information consistent with the evolving capacities of young people.
Comprehensive sexuality education includes scientifically accurate information about human development, anatomy and reproductive health, as well as information about contraception, childbirth and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.
But it also goes beyond information, helping young people to explore and nurture positive values regarding their sexual and reproductive health. This education includes discussions about family life, relationships, culture and gender roles, and also addresses human rights, gender equality, and threats such as discrimination and sexual abuse.
Taken together, these programmes help young people develop self-esteem and life skills that encourage critical thinking, clear communication, responsible decision-making and respectful behaviour.
According to Comprehensive Sexuality Education: Advancing Human Rights, Gender Equality and Improved Sexual and Reproductive Health, comprehensive sexuality education must do the following:
• Foster respect for human rights and diversity
• Encourage critical thinking skills and young people’s participation in decision-making
• Nurture attitudes that promote gender equality and inclusion
• Adapt to suit the age, culture and needs of young people
• Communicate a positive, life-cycle approach to sexuality
• Contain scientifically accurate information
• Offer a safe and healthy learning environment
• Include participatory teaching methods to help strengthen communication skills and decision-making abilities
• Address gender inequality, vulnerabilities, exclusion and human rights violations, including gender-based violence and sexual abuse
This education may go by other names, such as “life skills,” “family life,” or “HIV” education. Sometimes it is called “holistic sexuality education.” These names may imply differences in emphasis. For example, life skills education may include a focus on caring for sick family members, coping with loss or other similar issues.
The sexual and reproductive choices of young people can have a cascading effect on their human rights. Adolescent pregnancy, for example, can lead girls to drop out of school, which deprives them of their right to education. Poor understanding of gender equality can lead to discrimination.
Comprehensive sexuality education empowers young people to know and demand their rights. The importance of sexuality education has been recognized by numerous international agreements.
The rights to education and health are also embedded in many international agreements, including the Programme of Action of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
1. Comprehensive sexuality education does not lead to earlier sexual activity or riskier sexual behaviour.
2. In fact, these programmes reduce risky behaviours: About two thirds of evaluations show reductions in targeted risky behaviours. About 60 per cent of programmes had a positive effect on at least one behavioural or biological outcome, such as increased condom use or reduced unplanned pregnancies.
3. Studies of abstinence-only programmes are either inconclusive or show abstinence-only education to be ineffective.
4. Delivering high-quality comprehensive sexuality education requires training and support.
5. Addressing gender and power issues also leads to better health outcomes.
6. To be most effective, curricula must be tailored to the specific context and needs of young people
7. Engaging parents and communities as part of this education is critical.
UNFPA works with governments and partners to develop and implement comprehensive sexuality education programmes that meet international technical standards. UNFPA also advocates for policies on, and investments in, comprehensive sexuality education, both in and out of schools.
Out-of-school programmes include community-based training and education, often aimed at the young people most in need of information – such as married adolescent girls, homeless youth, migrants and refugees, youth in remote rural areas, and those living in conflict zones. In many countries without in-school sexuality education, UNFPA supports the Y-PEER programme, a peer-to-peer youth network that uses a combination of experiential learning methods, ‘edutainment’, social media and new technologies to convey health information to young people.
There has been great progress in making comprehensive sexuality education available around the world.
In 2013 in Eastern and Southern Africa, for instance, health and education ministers from 20 countries committed to increase access and quality to these programmes. Their target is to offer comprehensive sexuality curricula in 90 per cent of schools by 2020.
And the Safeguard Young People programme in Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe is also providing comprehensive sexuality education both in schools and in community settings. Safeguard Young People also offers youth-friendly health services, youth empowerment activities, skills building and other support. In the past two years, Safeguard Young People has reached over 4.39 million young people.
We have the inherent right to choose what we do with our body, to ensure its protection and care, to pursue its expression. The quality of our lives depends on it. In fact, our lives themselves depend on it.
International Technical and Programmatic Guidance on Out-of-School Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
An evidence-informed approach for non-formal, out-of-school CSE programmes that aims to reach young people from left-behind populations.
Every year, millions of girls are subjected to practices that harm them physically and emotionally, with the full knowledge and consent of their families, friends and communities.
Costing the Three Transformative Results
Costing the Three Transformative Results focuses on new research to estimate the costs associated the global effort led by UNFPA to: (a) end preventable maternal deaths, (b) end the unmet need for family planning, and (c) end gender-based violence and all harmful practices, including child marriage and female genital mutilation.

This brochure is an advocacy and communication product to promote the purpose and context for which its source publication International Technical and Programmatic Guidance on Out-of-School Comprehensive Sexuality Education is to be used. It aims to explain what the guidance is, who it is for and what the user can expect to find included in the tool.
This handout offers key messages to the ENGAGE multimedia presentation on policy changes and investments needed to realize the sexual and reproductive rights of persons with disabilities.

  Застенчивый невротик Отис так травмирован жизнью с бойкой мамой-сексологом, что сам о сексе даже думать не хочет. Но хотя свои проблемы решить он не может, зато, благодаря развитым эмпатии и интеллекту, у него замечательно получается раздавать советы одноклассникам. Чем воспользовалась бойкая оторва Мэйв и организовала в школе платные консультации для всех желающих.



  Никак не могла заставить себя написать про сериал, дождалась в итоге что все его уже посмотрели и отписались. :) Но хотя бы пару слов сказать, очень уж интересный продукт у Нетфликса вышел. Вроде бы школьники и секс тема настолько избитая что сколько можно? Но, то ли тема вечная, то ли у каждого поколения свои вопросы и сериал в этом плане оказывается очень своевременной молодёжной комедией. Которая очень злободневно и с юмором пытается нарисовать подростковое мировосприятие во всём разнообразии психотипов и сексуальных проблем. Забавно что собственно секс тут показан максимально нелепо и это здорово придаёт сериалу жизненности, при том что реальность в нём частенько упрощается до фантастичности. Взять хотя бы это новомодное вневременье, в котором не понятно где и когда происходит действие: вроде бы английская глубинка, но школа явно американская. Или вроде бы всё это сегодня и смартфоны, но одежда и саунд прямиком из 80-ых.



  При всей фривольности темы, вопросы тут поднимают довольно серьёзные: родители и установление личных границ, доверие, подростковые беременности, школьный буллинг и попытки найти себя. Всё это завёрнуто в небольшие вертикальные истории второстепенных героев и подано лёгко и с такой невероятной искренностью что в сериал влюбляешься моментально. И в героев - в первую очередь конечно благодаря актёрам. Кто бы мог подумать например что у Джиллиан Андерсон такой комедийный потенциал и каждое её появление в кадре просто бесценно! Или прекрасная задира Мэйв (Эмма Маккей), чьё сходство с Марго Робби отметили буквально все, но в реальности между прочим она совершенно на неё не похожа. Эйса Баттерфилд, чей образ вечного и прекрасного в своей нелепости подростка с огромными наивными глазами, просто идеально контрастирует с ролью бывалого секс-эксперта. Да и весь второй план есть за что похвалить, очень цепкие и неизбитые образы.



  Ну и для киноманов, это натурально гид по классике молодёжных комедий. Тут чувствуется атмосфера Хьюза и вспоминают Клуб завтрак, высмеивают романтические повадки Ферриса Бьюллера, но повторят музыкальную сцену из "10 причин моей ненависти". На школьном балу будет неуловимо витать дух Кэрри, а сама идея давать консультации в туалетных кабинках выглядит как большой привет Ельчину в "Чарли Бартлетте". Расследование с фоткой вагины явно отсылка к Американскому вандалу, а местная версия Джуно тоже встанет перед нелёгким выбором.
  Чудесный сериал, который не только вобрал в себя все классические жанровые тропы, но и сумел их переосмыслить в современном ключе. Здоровый цинизм это не так уж плохо, а честность и доверие невероятно важны.

хотя уже много лет как перестала быть целевой возрастной категорией подобных фильмов, мне понравился, жду второй сезон. Джиллиан Андерсон удивила.
