Melissa McCarthy wants to have a “better” sex talk with her daughters since her first attempt happened over dog poop.
“I did [it] incredibly awkwardly,” the actress admitted on Tuesday’s episode of the “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast .
The day before her 15-year-old daughter Vivian’s school covered sex in health class, McCarthy decided not to let “someone else initiate that conversation with my child.”
The Oscar nominee, who also shares daughter Georgette, 12, with husband Ben Falcone , joked that she decided picking up dog poop in the backyard was a “really wonderful time” to chat.
“Vivi just goes, ‘Oh dear God, is this happening?'” McCarthy recalled. “And I was like, ‘There are different parts of bodies … uh.’ … I was just like, ‘Let me be awkward and get through it.'”
The “Bridesmaids” star, 52, went on to share her aims to be “open” with Vivian and Georgette so that they feel comfortable coming to her with “anything.”
That being said, she noted, “There is still a midwestern former Catholic person [inside of me] that’s like, ‘Talk about sex and a lightning bolt comes down.'”
The Emmy winner, however, has had smoother talks with both of her children about dating.
McCarthy and Falcone, 49, have encouraged the little ones to choose people who are “incredibly kind and respectful and only lift [them] up” in the future.
“That person has to be incredibly happy when you succeed and incredibly supportive when you fail,” the Golden Globe nominee explained. “And if those are ever switched, that’s the biggest red flag on earth. And nothing should make you feel uncomfortable.”
She and her “Enough Said” co-star wed in October 2005. McCarthy gave birth to Vivian and Georgette in 2007 and 2010, respectively.
Last month, McCarthy gushed over her husband via Instagram in honor of his 49th birthday.
“Hands off, he’s mine!!” the “Tammy” star told her followers in August. “Happy 49th Birthday to the most wonderful weirdo I know. I love you.”

A woman has been charged after her dog left a three-year-old girl with life-changing injuries when it attacked her as she walked home from a sweetshop.
The little girl was with her grandparents on Botley Drive in Havant, Hampshire, just after 6.30pm on August 8 when Lisa Marie Garner's Dobermann bit her.
She suffered a 'significant wound' to her back and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
Garner, 45, was charged with owning a dangerously out of control dog and will appear in court next month.
The Dobermann has been destroyed by Hampshire Constabulary.

One resident living near where the attack took place said they heard a girl 'screaming before a neighbour came out and grabbed the dog and kicked it'.
The person, who did not wish to be named, said: 'It was horrible and a real shock for something like that to happen. It could have been worse.
'The grandparents are so upset and are blaming themselves. But it's not their fault.'
The little girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was said to be in good spirits at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth after an operation.
'She's still got a smile on her face,' they added.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman today said: 'Officers investigating a serious injury dog bite incident, where a child was left with life changing but not life threatening injuries have charged a 45 year-old woman.
'At around 6.35pm on Monday August 8, we received a report that a three-year-old girl had been bitten by a dog on Botley Drive, Havant.
'The girl was taken to the Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment. She is now recovering at home
'The dog involved, a Dobermann, has since been destroyed by police.
'As part of our enquiries Lisa Marie Garner of Botley Drive in Havant has been charged with being the owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.
'She has been bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court.'
