This movie is censored to meet with (I guess) American taste. The French version is about 30 minutes longer. Not a bad movie but I was surprised at the rating because it was no big deal as far as the over the top sex scenes. Then I saw the French version (in German) on the internet. Okay, I understand the "x" rating now. But this version is not what was initially released in Europe. Some might like it better, I was a little shocked myself about how sexually graphic the movie was but then again read the title of the movie. Plus it is French and I have yet to see a French movie that held anything back. Typical European movie. Just a day in the life of... I did think it was a little over the top but then I started to think about what must go on in my own house and I was like, okay it probably isn't that far off the mark. So God forbid the movie made me think, so I gave it four stars but just wanted to let people know to pick the version, American verse European that appeals to your comfort level. This version is not the full movie and is very censored.

For a film that is about sexuality, and it was very refreshing, it was a bit prudish in the editing. Would not have been an issue were it an American film with our hangups about nudity and masturbation. I liked the film a lot but would not have bought it had I realized this was not the French edit. At least they did not dub it.

I saw photos and some clips from this movie, so I bought it with the expectation that it contained explicit sex scenes. When I viewed it, the scenes had been edited for an R rating. Please do not buy this version if you are interested in a sexy movie with a good plot and explicit sex. I love the fact that this is becoming more mainstream. I will either return this or trade it at my local used book/video store.

could be better. movie should have been uncensored. as an adult we should be used to uncensored videos, tv shows, and movies. also could have had the older brother have sex with guy especially if he is bi. I feel like the big brother who is suppose to be bisexual barely had any intimate feelings with a guy.

The idea of sexual feelings/acting out being brought out of the closet and discussed openly in a family is a good one. It's so sexual in parts that it definitely borders on porn, however, - a little over the top, rather than fulling reflecting on the subject matter.

This is a highly censored version. Someone decided what scenes I should watch even though I am 38 years old. I have heard we have freedom of expression; that probably does not include freedom of watching a full version of a movie.

I've not seen it. One of the kids must have taken it out of the box. Come to think of it, I'd better check my records to see if it arrived? I saw this movie in France. This version is heavily censored! I don't understand why this is the case. I thought that IFC has a policy of releasing or showing movies as they were intended. We certainly have problems in the US with nudity and sex in the movies. However, it is ok to have violence and other bloody stuff. As a recall, the sex in this movie was artistically done and important part of the story. I checked Netflix and they show the same version of this DVD. I can understand that because they have control of every they show. In this case, we are buying a DVD for our private collection. It should be the original version. We destroyed the DVD in frustration. The one-star is for the highly edited version of this DVD and not the movie itself. Stay away from it...

It's how it is
The title just about sums up what the film is about. Everyone is getting some except Romain, the family virgin, and this is driving him crazy, but then the obliging Coralie comes along. The sex is handled in a very matter-of-fact way as only the French seem to do: it happens - get over it. The German Blu-ray is the uncut version so is very graphic in its content. The UK (DVD) version has all the graphic stuff cut out so is basically soft content. The use of extreme close-up jarred a bit, especially when focused on designer stubble and acne spots. The German Blu-ray has German and French dialogue while the UK version has French dialogue with English subtitles. The run time of the German Blu-ray is 85 minutes and the UK DVD run time is 76 minutes.

It's what life can be like.
It's a brilliant movie,well worth the watch,won't be disappointed. I haven't seen a film of its kind in sometime. I really don't see why they haven't based this film on true events. It's about a French family,not talking about sex/sexual encounters to their children,until it's to late. (E.g. Their 15 year old son gets caught masturbating in class at school.) That's what forces each family member to share their sexual experiences .

It is amazing what goes on behind closed doors- one starts to wonder about ones neighbours. Am I missing something - this film makes you wonder !
