Sex and the City should have left it alone when the show ended they all are irritating in this movie. Samantha whom I LOVED in the show has lost all appeal, Miranda well to be fair she was always annoying but tolerable, Charlotte is the same but without the interesting love life, and Carrie, yikes, I'd have left her at the alter too.
I was the perfect age for the series when it was released & watched it religiously - the movie wrapped it all up wonderfully. SATC Sunday nights are fondly nostalgic for me, and now that I'm older, I can understand a hell of a lot more of what these ladies portrayed, then I did 20yrs ago. Like many fans, during this pandemic, I've returned to 245 East 73rd Street & revisited the lives of my favorite four. It's one of my "me-time" movies ❤
50 and fabulous!!! here's to the next 50! yes indeedy. i love love this series and of course now, this movie. keep em coming bradshaw. even if you are all in a rest home popping wheelies. you're the next golden girlies. maybe even bring dan levy from schitt's creek on board to be the throuple in stannys wedded bliss plus 1. spice it up spice girls. bring mr smith back for round 2. hell, bring the renking ball and chain miley c. she can wear that red carpet smash up again. have sam be up to her old and some new tricks. maybe even bring schitt's creeks mom and dad to play sams folks and maybe even a little alexis to play sams younger sister. ooooh the possibilities. carrie on!

Great movie - follows the same great story line as the HBO show, but they cleaned the language up a LOT. That's okay, times change, people change and if you do have little kids listening in on mommy and her friends conversations it is only appropriate that you clean your conversation up somewhat. The same wry humor is there and you can still feel the same close friendship between the "girls" that has developed over their 20 relationship.
As far as Mr. Big - I knew him and Carrie were always meant to be. I actually feel sorry for Samantha and how her relationship ends (watch the movie for that one). But Carrie and Big, yep - 2 peas in a pod....only thing I couldn't understand about him is he is such an Alpha male, so sure of himself that only a little needling can cause him to fold like a house of crepe paper cards. He is a man that knows what he wants and goes after it - so why does he run from Carrie all the time.
My last note is just a personal note that I've noticed as a trend over the last 10 years or more regarding dating and the social scene - - - using electronics as your only form of communication between each other. It freaking drives me crazy. Big didn't have Carrie's phone number because she threw her old, ancient phone into the Pacific - so he sent her emails......WTF???!!! If you really love some you don't send emails or text - you freaking go and find them and talk to them face to face. It is not that hard. I had a FWB relationship that lasted on and off for about a year and the guy never called, he only texted. It drove me nuts. In my book if you want to ask someone out you don't text them, you call! We are becoming a faceless society by texting and emailing each other when we are in the same freaking town. And this feeling isn't because I'm an old person. I'm only 48 and I love tech - - but tech has it's place and it's not appropriate to use it as the only form of communication when you are in a relationship.
I don't know why but I absolutely love this movie. I can't stand most of the characters from the SATC series but there is something about the over the top fashion, locations, and at the heart of it, friendships that don't always make sense. I always watch this movie around the holidays, even though Christmas isn't really present, several other Fall/Winter holidays are, so I guess that's why I enjoy watching it at that time of year. Even though there are some difficult topics and down moments, it turns around, maybe not just like real life does, because this reality comes with $800 heels, but none the less, strip all of that away and the things the girls go through are pretty relatable.
When SATC ended in 2004, I, like everyone else felt the insane need for a little more Carrie, a little more Samantha, a little more Charlotte and a little more Miranda. 2008, Michael Patrick King and the cast and crew of Sex and the City delivered a film that not only filled in the gap of four years away from our screens, they told us the story of what came next.
The film itself is LONG, surprisingly long, and with this extended edition we're talking about an extra 10-15 minutes of unseen footage. The additional footage makes perfect sense for hardcore fans, these additional scenes are not only at times funny but they extend an offering of extra "hope" and sometimes "explanation" of scenes that were previously concluded.
The TWO disc special edition is a perfect trade in for anyone who rushed out to purchase the film when it released in stores. On your second disc you will find an amazing conversation between show Creator Michael Patrick King and Executive producer / Star, Sarah Jessica Parker. Together they discuss everything from the process of character development - to fashion decisions with Pat Field. You will also find three additional scenes that did NOT make it into the extended cut of the film which are alternate takes on what you DID see make the final cut.
Overall I rated this product ***** stars because it is a collector's DREAM to carry this film as a personal memento of appreciation, fandom and hope. Without plot give away - I will simply say this .... Once you find love, and once you think you've settled your dreams, does the "dream" always amount to reality? and when challenges arise in our personal lives, are we truly willing to accept what has been handed to us through circumstance, choice and history?.
Great movie. That movie is only for adult women but it can be including men if women bring their date to see it. Their life can change when you get married. Marriage life works hard in the privacy of couples' apartment. It's a traditional. Marriage life is a big step for couples.
Miranda should not say ruined marriage to Big right after she talked to Steve outside the night before Carrie's big wedding. Miranda seemed very upset. Quoted "ruined marriage" by Miranda scared out Big. He ran away and was jilted. She's wrong. She didn't understand about love.
I have not seen Sex and the City show before. I thought the movie would be a fun light comedy, but I found it utterly awful and unwatchable. It's very difficult to love the characters of these spoiled shallow middle-aged women whose main focus is sex and fashion. Awful!
