“Sex and Candy” is Marcy Playground’s “breakthrough” hit from their 1997 self-titled debut studio album. The song was written in just one hour.
The song spent 15 weeks atop the US Modern Rock songs chart and hit number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, giving Marcy Playground their first and only major hit in the US.
It means so many different things, and so many different parts of it came from so many different places. Even though I wrote it in an hour. Yeah, where did I get the “sex and candy” part from? Well, I was dating a girl and she was going to Bryn Mawr College and it’s where my dad teaches. And I was probably 17 or something like that and she was like 18. I always liked the older girls. (laughs) But we were in her dorm room, and her roommate came in and she saw us there, and she was like, “Oh, it smells like sex and candy in here.” And I always remembered that. And that was back in the late ‘80s. And then when I was writing the song and I was coming up with all these weird disco-era references that I was making up, “platform double suede” and all that business, I was like, hey, let’s just throw in that phrase that’s been sticking in my head for the last 5 years or whatever. So I wrote that song in '92, '93, somewhere around there. And it didn’t really come out until '97. That song had been at least in my consciousness since the late '80s. At least with the concepts behind it. But it’s just about seeing some sexy girl and then falling in love, and then asking a dumb question to yourself… well, it’s not even asking a question. It’s just – I don’t know!! I don’t know. (laughing) I’m just gonna be straight up honest. I don’t know. I’m telling you, when I was very young I experimented with drugs, but when I was writing these songs, I wasn’t high. But it sounds like I was high."
I didn’t invent the video. That’s Jamie Caliri. That guy actually is great. He’s trippy, man. He’s Mario Calire’s brother – you know, Mario Calire from the Wallflowers. Jamie actually makes films. He did the Morphine video called “Early To Bed,” which is one of my favorite videos from the ‘90s. He’s cool, but he’s very weird. He’s got a really unique artsy sensibility that is very surreal."

(Blinks) umm what? The story was good, well written but I’m wondering what was the point. I’m all for the pain of angst but I can’t understand the authors thought process here unless she was trying to set up certain characters to become villains of their own club. All in all a good read, the ending just hurts.
Amazing book in a amazing series, however I didn't like the ending. I love Candy and T-bone and all the characters but the tragedy broke my heart.
What just happened? Not sure how I feel about this one …. Not at all what I was expecting …. To go from a happy high to this ending ….
This author really knows how to tell a story. I wasn’t surprised that Candy fell for TBone. She had a rough life and found someone she wanted to say I love you to but not everyone gets their HEA. This story gutted me. Why oh why did it end this way.
I don't know what to say. I have never given a RBMC book a three Star rating but this book was heartbreaking. I loved the begining. T-bone and Candy were so sweet. They were living in a little love balloon of happiness and lust. But t-bone had a job to to do for the club and he needed King's help to finish the job. After that, all hell broke loose. I don't want to give spoilers so let's just say what happened next is the reason for the 3-Stars. Read with caution. I'm not even sure if I would recommend reading it If you are a die hard RBMC reader. Don't start with this one of its your first book in the whole Series. This is a review from an ARC I received. It's my honest review.
I have to write 20 words for a review to post. The author does an amazing job pulling on your heart and rips your soul out. No words can convey my feelings, but I can’t fathom the outcome here, so I will wait to see what happens. Let’s hope for a dream sequence…
I'm torn on this review. Having two main characters have a certain outcome made me question why I even read the first two books if the author was going to do that. Just didn't make sense. This book also felt rushed. Not my favorite from this author. I'm rounding to a three because I am a fan of this author.
If I could give negative stars, I would. Without leaving spoilers, I would say the ending was the worst ending of any book I've ever read. Three days later I'm still nauseated and irritable. I read a lot. One to two titles per day, and I'm through nearly half of the RBMC saga, but will not read another of the Detroit Chapter. I wish I'd have stopped at book2, but it seemed there was light at the end of a dark tunnel. Nope. It got worse. Way worse. I never considered myselfbto be the type reader that needed a HEA, a HFN was okay. Ive read some seriously dark fiction with sad endings, but never have i been so emotionally affected as I have been with TBone and Candy's ending and simultaneously Silver and Laceys. If S Youngblood needed to create a villain or a antihero, she didn't need to use two main characters to do so and as far as I'm concerned I will never know where she leads Silver and TBone from here because there is no redeeming reason to have ended the book as she did. Save your peace of mind. Do not read. I will never, ever read another Shannon Youngblood novel.

I’m not the biggest nor the strongest, but I’ve got a lot to prove. I’m TBone, the newest patched member of the Royal Bastards MC, Detroit Chapter. Some people whisper that I’m only here because of my sister Cameron, but those assholes don’t know a God Damn thing. I’ve been ordered to find the bitch, Tiffy, who kidnapped our Prez’s old lady, and bring her back to the club to dispense our kind of justice. She’s sneaky, but I’m a fucking tracker and the rage inside of me won’t rest until she’s been torn apart for her crimes against us.
My anger is the only thing I have, but lately, when I see Candy, my rage morphs into something feral. She’s fierce, and although the fire inside of her has been doused, I know I can reignite her embers into a roaring flame if I can just get her into my bed.
With two dueling emotions running rampant inside of me, I now have to prove my worth to my brothers and to Candy. Luckily for me, lust and rage are a deadly combination.
